I read a collection of short stories titled ‘Dracula in London’. The authors were asked to write a short story based on the question "What ELSE was Dracula doing in London when he was not being chased by Van Helsing and company?” I loved reading all the different stories based on this prompt. Some of the ideas were truly unique.

My question is this, Has anyone ever used a prompt to write something?

If you have an idea for a prompt post it. Let’s see what different writers can do with it, whether its poetry, micro, flash fiction, or a short story. I know I’d enjoy reading them. Others might too.

What kind of poetry would you rather read: metered and rhyming or free-form ?

I have a few suggestions that you might be interested in-I know what you’re thinking, new guy wants changes. That’s not it at all. These are just a few things I think would be interesting.

Sub-categories on the submission page. I enjoy Flash Fiction, but don’t like Romance (please don’t anyone be offended, it just a personal choice) I know you can use tags but sub-categories might make it easier.

Authors note. Completely optional of course. I personally enjoy finding out how a person got their idea or inspiration for a story.

Weekly writing prompts. Maybe make it a category, or a contest. I would love to see how different writers make use of the same prompt, horror ,romance humor, ect. It would be really interesting.
There's another site I check out once a week just for the interesting prompts, it might be a way to get new members.

These are just some thing I'd enjoy seeing

Hey everyone. I’m new to this site. I joined a few weeks ago and have 2 stories posted. Writing is really hard for me. I have a lot of ideas but "grammar “kills me. I'll fret over a sentence or two, just to make sure it sounds right, then I'll lose the idea I was working on. I'm not trying to get rich doing this. I just love doing it. This seemed like the place where people could give me their opinion, positive or negative. I've never shown my work to anyone I know, they don’t even know I write...Don
