She became rude and sneered at everything she once held dear because one day someone had asked why does she care. She replied, because I am the only one who cares in a world that no longer gives a s***.

That is on my mind.

You are SO wrong...

If you keep shutting out those who would help you, care about you and want to befriend you for exactly who you are, then, yes, your cynical attitude is perfect. However, if you are going to travel through life with that chip on your shoulder you have no right to blame everyone else for how you are feeling.

In this life - as you will eventually learn - being the rebel is all well and good if you want to be lonely and isolated. The sad fact that ALL of have to accept is that we DO have to conform, whether we like it not. The art is finding the right compromise, and it takes practice and a lot of falling flat on your face before you do. At risk of sounding patronising, you are still very young and still have an awful lot to learn about life. I would ask that you don't give up life just yet and allow yourself to experience it and learn from it. and learn from your mistakes. That's the only way you will ever learn to become a part of it, just the same as everbody else has.

And, yes, I have written this to show you that I actually DO give a s***

Sorry but in the stiry you would she see she was tge one shut out by everyone else and it was the thing on my mind at the time being. So don't take it so seriously. Alright? Okay.

Rebs, you call that upon yourself, because what you write always feels so real. Sometimes you make it too hard for us, the poor readers, to see the thin line between fact and fiction.

Sorry, Paul, I disagree. Given her style, current series, plus personally referenced reflections posted here, it was clear to me that what was on Rebs mind was text and character, not personal stuff.

In no way can it be said she brought that reaction down upon herself. That is my personal opinion.

I will reluctantly disagree. One has only to visit Rebs' profile page to see that the post is completely in keeping with that page. I DID take the time to revisit it before making my considered and compassionate response. I do not like to discuss someone in the third person as if they are invisible, but I will say that I stand by the post. I would hope, Reb, if you're reading this, that you will accept my genuine good wishes towards you, as they alwys have been.

Nope, first if all, the judicial system has proven to be faulty. Innocent people have been and will be executed. There is no justification for that. And execution is premeditated nurder too. How can we condem one murder and justify the second.

It is my conviction that those who support capital punishment shpuld be prepared to execute it themselves, and with it, knowingly accept the risk, they might be killing an innocent human being. Would you do that?

I have given this a loot of thought over the eyars and my answer is an unequivocal YES.

If there incontrovertible PROOF that the killer was absolutley the person who committed the crime then that person deserves to be put to death. IF THERE IS THE REMOTEST DOUBT then, no, a full life sentence should be levied instead to allow the case to be later re-examined... I have always maintained that in cases where there is no doubt whatsoever of the guilt of the killer that that person should be executed.

The US appeals system that allows death-row inmates to prolong their lives by constantly delaying their execution ought to be swept away IF there is no doubt that the killer is guilty. It is a crazy system that condemns a killer to death than allows him/her to spend the next 10/12/15/20 years trying to overturn the decision! I am not a harsh person, but I strongly believe that where there is not a shodaow of a doubt about a person's guilt that that person should feel the full weight of the law upon them.

"Oh, what a beautiful morning", when I sing it myself. It's from the musical Oklahoma, and people tend to look at me, as if I'm nuts (they're probably right) when I sing it. I think most people have forgotten that music does not have to come from some electronic device, and that it is okay, to allow the music inside yourself to come out (even when you can't actually sing ).

I can only agree with you. I have always wished I could sing... although that never stopped me inflicting my vocal warblings on Karaoke nights at my local

My 'go to' song that sems to pop into my head at all times is 'Blue Moon', which also comes form a musical, although which one escapes me at the moment. I love the hit version by the Marcels from the early 1960's although the original slow version is also pleasant.

death sentence or 'whole life' sentence?
Yes... it might push morons off the road and leave them safe for sensible and considerate drivers.

Should premeditated murderers pay for their crime by execution?
Dear MaryRuth; she probably has the biggest heart of anyone I have ever met. A truly nice person who doesn't always get the respect she deserves...
COMPASSION: pity; inclining one to help or be merciful.

It's something we all could do with exhibiting more often. Heaven knows there is a need for it more than ever these days...
