I was on the beach up on Lake Huron but no water activities happening. It's nice here but not warm enough for that. We were up at The Pinery, a provincial park not far from home that is famous for its sunsets, which are best seen from the beach. And the sun did not disappoint. Also got in some hiking.

Didn't get in earlier so missed doing coffee. I'll put on a pot anyhow since we have folks all over the planet. Teas are a Japanese Sencha (green) and lemon ginger herbal.

snarfs another Astros cookie

Another song from the Christopher Tin - Voces8 collaboration The Lost Birds.

Las Vegas, South Lake Tahoe CA, Reno,Kingman Az and finished off with the Grand Canyon

Sounds like a great vacation. I love that part of the US. Have been in the Southwest three times now.

I love the Grand Canyon, but Bryce is actually my favourite in that part of the world!

Amen, Bear. We did a tour of the parks in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona and I think we enjoyed most of them more than the Grand. It's big but some of the others have more interesting features (Bryce's hoodoos, the arches in Arches and Canyonlands). Red Rock Canyon West of Vegas is great for hiking, too.

Sigh, Now I want to go to the SW. OTOH, I am finally getting to New Orleans again. Was supposed to go for my third time 6 or 7 years ago but the conference got cancelled permanently. We are taking a cruise out of NOLA's port and then spending 4 days in the city after the cruise. Jazz and cajun/creole cooking, here I come!

I'll take an Astros cookie. Winners taste better. 😜

St. Elmo's Fire - John Parr (Co-written and produced by David Foster, who also produced Unbreak My Heart)

Well, the first celebrity appearance, aside from the supergroup's members, is the late John Candy.

Movie. I find it hard to keep with TV shows, though something with short seasons might be okay.

In a theater or at home?

yawns

Bit of a lazy Saturday happening. I may or may not be on the brink of a migraine. We shall see how things develop.

Coffee is Saint Drogo (a blend of a dark and two medium roasts from various Latin American nations) from Fire Roasted. Teas are Canadian Breakfast and Vinyl Cafe from Tea Haus. Kettle is full for other hot bevvies.

My writing is rather like my headache: I may or may not be on the brink of doing it. Later.

We're seeing a high school play (!!!) directed by a teacher friend in mind called The King in Yellow. This play is actually said to drive men insane - the source material is one of the first Cosmic Horror stories ever. Anyway, Google it if you're interested, it's really crazy stuff. Should be bonkers.

A high school play based on Chambers' The King in Yellow? I mean, it did get some more prominence after its role in a recent TV series (True Detective??) but still ... not exactly commonplace or the kind of thing you usually see in a high school production. Now, if you really want to see Chambers' ideas used to their fullest, read "River of Night's Dreaming" by the late Karl Edward Wagner. He out-Chambered Chambers.

Ahem. Sorry, I'm a bit tardy.

Coffee du jour is a medium roast Ethiopian from Fire-Roasted. Teas are Red Rose and Earl Grey. Kettle is ready for hot chocolate and other teas. I recommend the lemon-ginger herbal if it is too late for caffeine.

Sara's been scarce again so I picked these up. Can't promise they are GF, though. Sorry, Bear.

Yay! Videos are back! A celebratory tune from the concert I have been watching.

Hadn't realized this came out in 1965. A friend of mine was a big H. Rider Haggard fan but kind of meh on this film version.

Good morning. My London has apparently decided to emulate its namesake and get all foggy. Not too bad in my neighborhood but apparently there's near zero visibility in some areas.

So, come on in out of whatever physical, emotional, or spiritual fog you're in and have a cuppa your favourite hot beverages.

Las Chicas Don Rey occupies the coffee pot again. English Breakfast and Black Currant is in the teapots. Kettle is on standby for hot chocolate or other fine teas.

How are things in the rest of the SS world?

Oh, and the aforementioned new Ping story:

Switch on the light unless the power is off. And even then, I go for a flashlight or other battery-operated light before a candle.

Fiction or Non-Fiction?

Ping's got a story up - I hope he gets some reads.

He'd better. It's as good as you'd expect from him. And I got to be the first commenter. Yay?

Seriously? heads for front page

Many years ago, a young lady left my employer with a dream. She and her sister started a coffee roastery using beans imported from their native Nicaragua. And they are still in action, selling through grocery stores in the area.

So today's coffee is Don Rey's Private Reserve French Roast from Las Chicas del Cafe in St. Thomas, Ontario.

Teas are Irish Breakfast and Sunday Tea from The Tea Haus here in London.

And hot water is available for whatever other hot beverages you might enjoy, like hot chocolate.

Marshmallows, milk, cream, lemon, and other add-ons are all stocked up, as is the soda shelf in the fridge if anyone actually needs something cold.

Later, alligators.

I remember once, as a kid, we got PAMPHLETS from one household for Hallowe'en. Turns out they were Jehovah's Witnesses

We had someone handing out evangelical tracts. Might have been Chick tracts but it is so far in the past, I don't recall for sure.

Writing is very sporadic and I am kind skipping from project to project. Writer's ADHD I guess. Eventually something should engage me enough to settle me down.

Goodall studied chimps, not gorillas. 😊 (I am a Goodall fan. The late Dian Fossey was the gorilla lady.)

Also, is there an issue with Profile editing? I decided to change my About but Save is unresponsive on the editor for the About section.

Are there any other comp badges not working?

That's the only one that I have that's broken, and it was broken before the upgrade. It has been that way for a long time.

(I have not been able to see pics/clips for days now lol but I see what I post, so I soldier on ..was waiting for update to happen, to see if there is an improvement)

I am having issues too and opened a report. It would help if you report it, too so they know others are affected. You can mention that you were talking to me.

It's been a while since I saw anything new from Haley Reinhardt. Discovered her with Postmodern Jukebox a few years ago and fell in love with her singing.

(And can someone confirm if you see that. I'm having problems with embedded videos and only see my own. Wondering if others can see mine.)
