Woo hoo! As I was typing that, Sara the Cookie Lady arrived. * grabs a couple pecan divines to have with my tea *

(True story: When my son was in one of his schools, forget which one now, they had hot lunches brought once a month or so by a woman who had a franchise for an outfit called Lunch Lady. Her name was Sue. So her web site title was "Sue the London Lunch Lady". The jokes wrote themselves, though no legal action ever occurred that I heard of.)
for Roland being back. Nice to see you!

Went shopping with the the Mrs. this morning. Now I am nursing a headache, which is unrelated save that being masked for an hour probably didn't help. I have an ambiguous relationship with the damn things. Sometimes I am just fine wearing one for literally hours, other times I start gasping for air after 15 or 20 minutes. These are disposable medical-style masks, not cloth.

Tea and quiet are what I am after, so I shall just brew a cuppa green and then slink off to one of the comfy chairs.
Stephen Harper, our PM prior to Trudeau, used to foster cats for the Ottawa Humane Society in the official residence, which I thought was cool even if I wouldn't vote for the guy on a cold day in hell.

Another day is winding down. Tea and cookies time!
Congratulations on your new governing team, Americans! A cake is in order, I think.

Vibes, Gill, for both your clavicle and your parents.

COVID situation here has improved, at least in my city. Province still needs work. Apparently all people in longterm care in my city should be done for first shot by end of this week. After that, though, we are apparently in trouble due to a major shortage at Pfizer (their plant in Europe is having work done or something). Based on the vaccination plan I have seen so far, I am looking at Spring at the earliest.

Not much else going on. Keep working on some writing in fits and starts (more fits than starts, truth be told).

Tea and couple dog bones. Or are those the dog treats? Oh God, what am I eating?!?!?
Yeah, I was happy to see Roland around, too, and told him as much.

Snowing, but just light flurries. Figured winter would be back eventually. At least it's not enough to bother shovelling (yet).

Enjoying some tea as I work from home. Actually, would anyone mind if I just take over a table and chair here for the day? I'm sure the Wifi is decent and if not, there's always my phone's hotspot.
I'm kind of afraid of boats in general (not a swimmer), but probably sailboat at this point (really, I prefer canoes).

Read the book or watch the movie?
Fairies (though gnomes can be fun, too)

Friendly, pretty fairies or the darker, mischievous kind?
Got my daily exercise in. Got some more work done on a long gestating story set in my fantasy world. Will likely be gestating a bit longer. I'm thinking this is headed for 6-7K words based on progress so far (currently at c. 2300). Watched some Youtube. Yep, it must be Saturday.

Think I'll now grab a couple birthday cookies, make a green tea, and crash out in one of those comfy chairs while I figure out where this story goes next (And, really, where it is going in general. Still not sure of the ending.)
Summer sun. I don't like the heat but it beats shovelling.

S-F or Fantasy?
Speaking of Floor...

I'm not that familiar with Lara Fabian's work (something I have long meant to rectify), but that song in Floor's hands ... magnifico!

Oh big cozy quilts Yay!

Is there any other kind?

Good morning. Coffee is on, kettle is boiling. Picked up a fresh selection of teas and restocked the mini-marshmallows.

Quiet weekend ahead here. Might do some writing and a bit of housework. Maybe read or watch something. Who knows.
Back to Nightwish. Marko joined in 2001, already an established figure in the European metal scene. He's in his fifties and started his first band with his brother back in the eighties. This song was co-written by Marko and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen (who writes the majority of the band's music) for a movie soundtrack. I love this live version with Nightwish's current lead singer Floor Jansen on harmonies.

And about a year ago, Marko put out a solo album (his first, IIRC). This is from that album.

"They told us that we are dust, but we are ashes of the stars." The guy's a heck of a lyricist, too.
As mentioned in another thread, Marko Hietala of Nightwish has quit the music industry. Anna posted his letter explaining the decision in that other thread. Marko is an amazing multitalented performer, playing bass and guitar, singing, and composing. "The Islander" is one of his own compositions for Nightwish.

Scott we need blankets for the unplanned naps..

Planned naps need blankets, too, don't they? I've put some in the cupboard behind the new chair you brought. And there's a couple big, cozy quilts on the couch for serious power napping.

Good evening. Another week over and done with. 2021 is two weeks in.

Too late for caffeine so I'm having a lemon-ginger herbal tea with my cookies.
Hmmm. I'm a bit tired of average days. Too many of those in 2020. So I'll take the good with the bad.

Live in the city or live in the country?

It's Friday, out-of-control TGIF celebrations are in order. ;)

Only virtual ones, at least where I am.

* settles into one of the new comfy chairs with a breakfast tea *
And I did go for a walk (don't tell my boss, though) and it was glorious. Sunny, not too cold. Did my regular summer route but avoided woods (the trails aren't maintained in winter).

* grabs a couple random animal cookies and settles by the fire with a lemon-ginger tea *
I would like to be contemplating life, but work gets priority right now. Just wrapping up my lunch hour. Nice day here. Debating if 4C is warm enough to go for a walk. My Canadian nature says "go for it".

Afternoon tea is on. Orange pekoe with a shot of lime juice.
So, I went out to get the mail tonight, took a couple steps on to the driveway and went "great big nope". It was like stepping on to a skating rink. There was freezing drizzle in the forecast and I guess we got some.

My neck of the woods is once again in a "state of emergency" and "stay at home" due to everybody's (not) favorite virus. There's the usual raft of exceptions to the latter. We shall see if this helps bring numbers down, though I suspect that it being two weeks passed since the holidays will accomplish that as much as anything we actually do now.

Good evening, all. * grabs an assortment of cookies while the kettle boils *
Been working on my other site a bit. Renewed their software and domain, tinkering with an update to part of the site. And also getting housework done.

Now it is time to rest a bit with some tea and ... ooooo, carrot cake cookies.z8phBJgllusqaRhM

Thinking about kiss mechanics for myself and Jane tonight.

You standing on a box?? Her kneeling?? Where there's a will, there's a way.

(Also, where there's a will there's a greedy heir but that's a whole other story)

Kettle is on for the hot water set. I am drinking strawberry-flavoured black tea myself.

Sunny out but cold. Very January, at least for this neck of the woods.

No real plans this weekend. Kind of winging it.
Keep those ginger snaps a coming. They go well with my evening tea.

Nice day here, today. Too bad it was a work day and I didn't really get out. Maybe if things stay nice into the weekend (though it is still a bit chilly).

Later today I will be seeing a dental surgeon to remove the stump of a tooth that broke off a couple of weeks ago.

Hope all goes well. I was so glad to get rid of my broken (capped, root canaled twice) tooth in August but it was a fairly easy extraction since one root had already been removed and another was falling apart. The gap I have now is preferable to basically having to avoid using one side of my mouth.

Now bring it in for 2021

Bfn 😂😃👋

Happy New Year, etairay! Nice to see you.

Lovely day here.

Vibes to my friends South of the 49th. That was a seriously screwed up situation yesterday. On the upside, the election results are (finally) voted on and certified by all who need to do so. I just hope security for the inauguration is better than what we saw yesterday.

I'm dancing around among three stories right now so not sure when I'll be posting one, but it should happen eventually.
