Good morning, Happy Sunday, and Happy Mother's Day!!!

So I was having fun yesterday. Spoken sarcastically. Transplanted a small bush/tree. Had to head for cover twice due to rain. Ugh.

Hmmm. Let's do Sunday Tea (black w. vanilla) and English Breakfast in the teapots.

For coffee, how about some Fire-Roasted Fireside.

There's hot water on for other teas and hot beverages.

Fridge is stocked up with iced tea, lemonade, sodas.

Have a nice one!!

Hmm. Never tried avocado on a burger. Used to not be fond of the stuff other than in guac but this intrigues me. So avocado, but just to try.

WYR be in the wedding party (bride, groom, attendant, parent, etc.) or just be a wedding guest?

Yeah, the 9th and the 6th are probably my favourite Beethoven symphonies. The famous 5th, too. Even lesser known ones like the 7th and 8th have their moments.

And since we are talking about Labyrinth, one of the benefits of having Bowie in your movie, besides having Bowie in your movie, is having a great singer-songwriter to contribute to the soundtrack. And Bowie did contribute to the soundtrack.

mail your poop into some testing facility and have your colon checked that way.

That's actually the norm here in Ontario unless there's personal or family history involved. Then they do colonoscopies but I forget how regularly. I just do the stool tests and they've always been negative so have never had a colonoscopy. Did do the whole cleanse thing for a barium enema before surgery back 1990ish, though.

Continuing with music that has a Nightwish connection, another new album today is the debut album from Finnish supergroup Crownshift. The NW connection is the group's bassist Jukka Koskinen, who has been Nightwish's bassist since 2021.

I ended up watchin' Labyrinth last night after many years and...oh my.

To be fair, at the time I first watched it (original theatrical release), I was probably more "eyes on" for Jennifer Connelly and enjoyed Bowie more for his wonderful performance as the Goblin King. Only later have I realized he was pretty dang hot in that getup, too.

In case you were wondering, I don't just rock out to metal these days even if it might seem that way. Another favourite of mine from a rather difference musical world is Malinda (full name Malinda Kathleen Reese). She's a singer, songwriter, musician, and even stage actress with an award under her belt from a musical she appeared in. Oh, and she directed a film of the songs from her last album. Yeah, another multi-talented powerhouse.

This is the second new song from her this year. No announcement yet about a new album, but I suspect it must be in the works.

"Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley and the Comets. My first exposures to it were as the theme for the first two seasons of the TV series Happy Days and the classic George Lucas film American Graffiti.

New album today from Anette Olzon, who fronted Nightwish from 2007 to 2012. Rapture is her third solo album. She has also recorded in a couple groups since leaving Nightwish and works as a nurse as well as being a professional singer.

Pulling out Kicking Horse Three Sisters, a blend with light, medium, and dark roasts, for the coffee pot.

Teas are Scottish Breakfast and Black Currant. Hot water is available for other teas.

Washed the pitchers and made fresh unsweet iced tea and lemonade. Soda is stocked up.

Later.

Not sure I have much facility with languages anymore. I tried learning Mandarin back when I started dating my wife but it kind of fizzled and that was in my twenties.

WYE live in a country where the first language was different from yours?

Probably painting. Family tradition. Grandad painted (he was a Protestant minister and it was his hobby, much like writing for me) and I have several of his paintings hung around the house.

Impressionism or Realism?

Anyone But You

(which apparently is a loose riff on the Beatrice and Benedick plot from Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, and is probably on my "to see someday" list just for that. Much Ado... is my favourite of Shakespeare's comedies)

Have you seen him as the Goblin King in Labyrinth? First time I have seen a hot goblin.

Sorry, but I had to edit that. Not sure how autocorrect changed "hot" to "bit".

Carly Simon with Nobody Does It Better.

Great choice. I've soured on the movie which is kind of sad to say since it was the first Bond that I saw in a theater on its original release. I tried watching it a few years ago and, yeah, has not aged well. That song remains fantastic, though. Marvin Hamlisch and Carole Bayer Sager would not have been my first choice to write a Bond theme, but they nailed it.

There's a few good songs scattered through Peter Jackson's Tolkien films, but this one from The Fellowship of the Ring remains my favourite.

I’m taking a short getaway this weekend before work kicks my booty next week.

Sounds like a good plan. At least you know your booty is getting kicked next week. The weeks I hate are the ones that look like they are going to be easy ones but then things come out of the woodwork and booty gets kicked anyhow.

Coffee time, coffee time, everybody loves coffee time (sing that to the old Spiderman theme)

Except tea drinkers, of course. ☕️😊

Good morning, world!! The sun is shining (where I am, your mileage may vary) and the grass is green (ditto).

So let's see here. Haven't had Deathwish for a while, so here's their Valhalla Java Odinforce Blend. It was created for rock guitarist Zakk Wylde, who has been in several bands over the years, currently in the revived Pantera.

For teas, how about some Cream of Earl Grey and Scottish Breakfast. Plus hot water if you want to brew your own.

Checkin' the fridge shows that we are good for the cold bevvies.

Later, alligators.
