This weekend has been very hot, sweaty and hot, humid and hot. Spent it with husband visiting a vast number of antique malls in PA. Not very good a/c in these old buildings and just walking and walking and every now and then saying "how about this?" To which his usual reply is "nah, we have too many of those". Nice motel though with thoroughly European feel. Only open a week and lacking a few things "that got delayed in the supply line". Lovely breakfast and more hours slogging through more antique malls.
Finally home and feet up for maybe a week.
Oh, and Verbs - welcome to my world. How does it feel being one above the Nationals? Sorry. Don't even get me started on why, why, why the trades were made to the Dodgers. Gnashing teeth every time I think about it.
Lots of interesting things here today and yesterday too. Can we chose between Tams and Henrietta's opening sentence? Giggle.

For example, I'm REAL sorry that Team Canada beat the American women's football (soccer) team to get into the final, avenging the horribly officiated loss of the 2012 Olympics!

Sara! Oh, boy! I haven't had great GF sugar cookies in donkey's years! Thank you, sweet lady!

Mmmmmm…

Oh, Sorry!

There is one thing I am beginning to suspect, that maybe Canadians are a wee bit non-sincere in their apologies. I have a mind picture of a group of them sitting around laughing their bums off at the gullible outsiders. Maybe I'm wrong, if so, please accept my very sincere, extremely sincere *sorry*
James, you are so right. What was that sign maker thinking. Must have been from Mars or Pluto. Here is one more appropriate for the wonderful people that live in the north:

Canada is off to the Gold Medal match in soccer. Awesome stuff. Heartbreaking for Team USA, but that's how sports go. That's why we play the game. Just like when Canada was on the receiving end of a bittersweet Team USA finish several years ago. As much as we prognosticate, the outcome is never predetermined. Unless it is. If the latter is the case, then we have no control of our destiny. Whatever we do, it was predetermined for us to do that. No free will. What's done is done because it was supposed to be done.

Yeah, it is not like they have never won at women's footie before, eh.

So, personal connection here. Many years ago, when my son was a wee one, he played Northwest Optimist kids soccer here in London, and I volunteered as a coach. Coaching kids that age is basically herding cats, so my minimal knowledge of footie didn't matter much (my brothers played minor soccer but I didn't). Apparently another player in that league around that time was named Jessie Fleming. She scored the winner yesterday. Not sure if we ever met, but it is possible. Wonderful to think that one of those kids scrambling around the field chasing the ball is now playing for Chelsea (Fleming plays pro in the UK since women's pro soccer is basically non-existent in North America) and winning Olympic medals.

For my dear friends from Canada:

The talents of our members really sparkled with this competition. The total number of entries was impressive and there wasn't one I wouldn't want to award a medal. Great job from great people.
Congratulations to all the winners.

I agree it is wonderful to have so much to read about in Inspirations. But running out of time to answer everyone, I want to make sure I wish Verity a Happy Birthday - a delightful new friend and magnificent writer...

Finally read up on what happened with the Nats-Padres game. Ugh. Surprised it hasn't made any of my usual news sources or Twitter follows. Only knew it happened because of Larry and Jeff talking about it.

Love how you help out with the church kids, Sara. Bet they get as much from your stories as from the lessons.

Well, as a native of the area, it didn't even make much news. Had 5 people shot and a 6-year old girl killed in a drive by by another car. That made the news. We have to have multiple bodies or a child killed or badly wounded to make the news.
Is this exciting or what! We will have lots of fun, especially if they assign us to work in the kitchen. Making cookies all day.

We went for a drive over and around the countryside just to get out of the house after I got home from the hospital. We stopped and walked a bit with Victor on the leash. We were out for about three hours or so.

I just got home and looked at the radiology reports for my Chest and Pelvic CT scans. Everything is virtually the same as 4 months ago. That is good. Past areas of cancer in the pelvic region are continuing to show as unremarkable. That means in essence they see no cancer there. Definitely not growing. The metastasized cancer that spread to my left hip bone is continuing to be stable. That means it is not growing so we simply watch it.

The whole report is really very good. Nothing to worry about. No new therapies were indicated.

I'll have some fresh coffee. Take care Inspirators.

This is exactly what we all wanted to hear. Taking a nice ride was good too.
