My wife is a Cajun Queen. This could be a childhood photo of her. It even looks a bit like her. Of course, the alligator would be real with her. 😂🤣❤

I loved this comment. I think your wife for sure is a Queen. And a Cajun Queen is the best. How wonderful. How did you meet?

A big 'How-de-doo' to all of you, he says sorta rhythmically.

Larry, one advantage of a later than usual coffee brew-up is having a fresher than usual pot full available at coffee break time. Mercy buckets. ;)

Now I'm not superstitious, he says knocking on his wooden head, but best I recall this covid mess got cranking last year around March 15th, the 'Ides of March', the traditional date when big Julie Caesar got terminated with extreme prejudice by Brutus and the boys. So I was thinking, in a manner of speaking, that date would be the perfect choice for a national day to remember and reflect on the hundreds of thousands Americans cut down by that plague. Just a thought.

Sarah's left a generous supply of fresh from the oven cookies along with doughnuts and muffins from an anonymous source. Seems only polite that I try a sampling of them all to go with my better-late-than-never coffee. Think I'll stay on a stool here at the counter in case there's an emergency call for seconds and or a quick refill.

Later, Inspirators.

Dear Bill, I love the idea of March 15th being the national day to remember and reflect on the multitude that were cut down by this Covid-19 plague. It would be nice to go National with it. If you have any high-ranking Senator living nearby why don't you drop them a suggestion. It would mean a lot coming from Rumple_deWriter.

Well, that lil monkey and I have some things in common! I love banana cookies too!

My dose of weirdness for the day: I got an email invite to a "telephonic thriller" where, if you buy a $35 ticket, you will get a phone call at a pre-determined time, which you are supposed to answer in a dark room, by yourself. It's supposed to be Twilight Zone-y and scary. I'm pretty sure it's legit, a theater is sponsoring it. I think we're gonna do it. Probably on speakerphone. smile

No Mets game today.

I am a no on the espresso machine. I am happy with the current cuppa joe.

Coffee and a banana cookie please. And one for my new little monkey friend.

Pretty gutsy to sign up for the "telephonic thriller". I have fingers crossed that it will be well done and with theater backing, it should be. Please keep each other safe.

And I vote no on the espresso machine for myself only. If someone else wants to come in and brew some, fine with me.

I am at a loss why so much attention is given to Disney's new disclaimers on some of their 'Muppet Show' episodes. It was a much bigger story when the early 'Muppet Show' episodes were given a PG rating because they contained ideas or examples that were later considered dangerous decades later, such as talking to strangers and accepting things from strangers. That occurrence received almost no news coverage in the media but was potentially much more important in content. Is this disparity based more on today's culture wars?

So much of it is going on today. Look how many people are being attacked for things that happened many years ago. Lots of them didn't think they were doing anything hurtful. They didn't know. Trying to clean up the Civil War and make it go away. Okay. Do it, but does it have to be done ASAP? Some seem to pick at every dangling string, and pick apart each person. It is just plain ugly sometimes trying to change course in this country.
Long day today. But so sunny and bright. Not too warm, and the river is still running high. Hoping the low water bridges around here aren't overflowing. Luckily, I'm on the side of the river that I don't get trapped like so many people.
So many bridges on the Shenandoah River. And some without another way out until the river goes down and the debris is cleared. Single lane bridges with no side rails so the river can flow over freely. But trees always get stuck and make it impassable. But we have like 5 days were they aren't forecasting rain and the snow is melted, so hopefully all will be well.

Flowers for Algernon made me cry.

Did I hear someone say Girlscout cookies, Roland? They are dangerous because I can not eat just one or two.

My husband and I took off to the Outer Banks for a few days to get away from everything. It was a nice break and change of scenery. We took a lot of walks and just relaxed.

My son is enjoying being out of quarantine and did manage to get in some skiing. It's a rough life.

He sent me this picture from the top of the mountain.

The view of the beach from the condo we were staying in at the beach.

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the weekend.

So very happy your son is out of quarantine and able to ski. Poor little son. Your trip to the Outer Banks made me drool. What a lovely picture. So glad you included it for my enjoyment and envy.

hi everyone
A large coffee is in order.. Rough night.. Not moving too fast today.
Today is gonna be a lazy laid-back kind of day.

*peeking in the cookie jars and grabbing a couple to go with my coffee *
We are in good shape cookie wise
*giving the adorable mascots fresh water and treats *
*Moseying over to the corner and climbing up in my favorite chair *

Stay safe everyone and enjoy your day!

Sara honey, I understand and feel for your rough night. You need to behave yourself girl. I went to a actual live lunch with 9 friends yesterday and the wine over-flowed and I was worthless for more than a nap when I got home. But did we ever have fun and laugh. Setting ourselves up for a "tea" for Saint Patrick's Day at one of the girl's house. We have to polish up on our Irish songs and dance. Wait a minute...was I scolding you for not behaving? Sorry. Hope tomorrow is full of bright sunshine and you fell wonderful again. I got a few of the "old" cookies out of the tin and am very happy.

Hi ya, Jeff. Good coffee, Larry. Now that all the excitement of getting my second covid vaccine shot, life has settled back down into the normal uproar interspersed with occasional outbreaks of tumult and shouting.

That's okay by me. With Larry's coffee, Sarah's cookies and Jeff's wit and wisdom life is good in Inspirations. ;)

Supposed to nudge 80f this afternoon. Think I'll take my coffee and cookies outside and wait for the hot time.

Later, Inspirators.

I find you are such an upstanding gentleman (regardless of sly whispers) for not shouting out about your temperature today. And congratulations on that second shot and surviving the dread of the after effects. I think it has made you even more handsome if you don't mind me saying.

New you:

What's up? Lots to celebrate on this Hump Day. For our baseball fanatics, today is the date for MLB pitchers and catchers to report for spring training. Many claim that's a much better sign that spring will arrive eventually than any groundhog foolishness.

Baseball is one of my greatest joys—the American pastoral game. With baseball's return, I hope that the world will start returning to a more normal place.

Go CUBS!!!

A cup of herbal tea and a couple of butterscotch marshmallow crunch cookies that Sara donated sounds great. I have never had a butterscotch marshmallow crunch cookie before, and it sounds like an epicurean delight.

BTW, Sara, it took 3 hours for my wife to get home on the train because of a foot of snow that had happened the night before in Chicago. I love snow!

Baseball is the best. Long live Little League to keep the baseball lovers coming. Washington Nationals are rooted for in our house.

Just a little something for those Northerners:

I have been trying to figure out which of Sara's confections I would say is a favorite. Hurts my head to think that hard. But I do agree with Scott that the butterscotch marshmallow and the lemon softies. But tomorrow it may be different. Thank goodness she makes them without any ingredients that would cause weight gain. heart

What is everyone's favorite cookie?

Well, if you really must know, it's one that I have not had in probably 30ish years. My mother (and before her, my paternal grandmother) made these wonderful cookies. They were soft, almost cake-like, with walnuts in them and had an fairly rich frosting on them. Can't even remember what she called them (should check with my brothers in case one of them got the recipe). I have not had them since she died and I don't think I even had them a lot after leaving home in '89. Serious yummies, though.

Good afternoon, folks. Sunny but cold again here. Another working day winding to a close. Kettle on if anyone wants afternoon or some hot chocolate.

Oh, if we really are telling about those delicious cookies of yore....my Grandmother in Tennessee made the best sugar cookies that were like no other sugar cookies I've ever found. Big and soft and puffy. Asked for recipe and she didn't really know. She just added this and this and this. I tried to write it down, but I have never been able to make them taste the same.

Yours sound divine with soft, cake-like, walnuts and frosting. Yummmm. I have to say though that Sara makes cookies better than anyone.

I would have to choose just one of hers.
