It rhymes alright, but not enough to keep you in place
Neither brain nor name
Shall alter my game
I will not hide
But must abide
The end of line
Will still be mine
You two can battle
And make this thread rattle
If you think that's fine
But this spot is mine
Banned for bringing Debbie Harry (blondie) into this
Last, first, who cares what it's called. It's the end of this line and that's where I am now...

Thanks Maggie, until now, it wasn't clear to me, the show-all was to be the default. That does solve the issue for me. And of course I'll be patient. I understand how busy you all are and I promise you, I'll never take you guys for granted.

I am glad you do not take them for granted. They are much classier than that; mostly marble with a touch of quartz and a smattering of limestone.

Sorry, but I like to end a thread with some humor.

If I may throw in one last suggestion: would it not be better to change those buttons to Prose and Verse (or Poetry), and put songs ij the second group as well? Poems are stories too, so that name would be incorrect, and songs on the other hand, are usually poems too.
The wind is trying
To break every tree around
And sometimes he wins
When I started to write again, I didn't care. I wrote to get things of my chest and out of my system. I usually didn't even have a clue aboutr what I was going to write, it sort of just happened. I usually would not look at it twice, I just submitted what flowed out of my fingers. Only once did I edit in those days and that was, because a moderator pointed out to me, that it was really bad, and showed me, how to make it good. I wasn't looking for scores either. Even if there was only one person to read it, that would have been ok. I had shared it then, and that was the purpose. Gradually, as I wrote more, I started to enjoy the fact, that people liked what I wrote, and I started to look at my work a little differently. Looking back, I can say, that I like almost everything I wrote. Of course there are some, I like more than others. Ramble, My Poetry, Clicketyclick clicketyclack, Encore!, Eight Hearts, Tiny and Slow Motion are the ones I like best.

And for those who want to toggle, leave those new buttons where they are as an addition to all the buttons on the left.

That's exactly what we're talking about doing, Paul. I'm certain that the View All tab will be the default home page.

The tabs were added to provide more viewing options, not to exclude any category. In fact, it could be argued that providing poetry a separate page actually increases its exposure among readers who are looking for poems.

Please be patient as we work to implement the View All option. These things take time, especially when the staff is made up entirely of volunteers.

No more back-and-forth on this topic is necessary. The members spoke, and your concerns are being addressed.

We are looking at getting a third button that will allow the member to click that to have both stories and poems visible like it used to be. That way, everyone wins. Please be patient in regards to this and we will see when it can get done.

Thank you.

I still fail to see, why poetry should not be there on the homepage. The buttons on the left offer every visitor the opportunity to view the genre he likes without banning one specific genre from the frontpage. In my humble opinion toggling between prose and verse isn't bad, but first of all, let that be an option and don't give preference on the homepage to either one, and second, do it consistently. Songs are poetry too, yet that remained on the homepage.

The homepage has always been the place, where every author in every genre got equal exposure for new work. The current change tells a specific group of writers, the poets among us, that their genre is less important than the rest. Even if you choose to ignore the impact of that on current members, it certainly makes SS less attractive for poets.

Paul, poetry is not and never has been banished from the home page. Under the two-button system, it was given its own home page, right next to the stories home page. The addition of a View All button will return to the days of yore when everything was intermingled on one start page.

Those who want to see all works, whether stories or poems, will be able to. Those who prefer stories can choose that option, and poetry lovers can opt to see only poems. It's a good thing. :-)

I disagree. A website can have only one homepage.

home·page
or home page (hōm′pāj′)

1. The opening or main page of a website, intended chiefly to greet visitors and provide information about the site or its owner.
2. The first webpage that a web browser displays when the browser is opened.

Fact is, that www.storiesspace.com leads you to that homepage, and on that homepage, all genres are shown, except poetry. Why? Because that is better? In what way is it better, not to include poetry on the homepage? Only a short while ago, in another thread, it was claimed, that poems are stories too. I think, the homepage should reflect that. And for those who want to toggle, leave those new buttons where they are as an addition to all the buttons on the left. Just don't exclude a genre as a default.

A man I can do battle with and have fun with, but who will always have my back, in short, a friend
There once was a lady named Tilly
Who was happily married to Willy
Any woman can say
I'm in love with my Jay
But for Tilly those words sound too silly
Too bad your leafblower is too strong for you and sent you flying....

None of it means a thing.

Maybe not, but it did give me a smile. Thanks, I needed one
