Here's a question I thought seeing the responses would clear up. What is a limerick?
If you go back to the beginning of the thread, there are a few posts explaining that. But I'll repeat that:

A limerick is a small poem, consisting of five lines, adhering to the rhyme scheme AABBA.

They should have a metrum that goes something like

taDUMta taDUMta taDUMta for lines 1, 2 and 5 and
taDUMta taDUM for lines 3 and 4
or
tadaDUM tadaDUM tadaDUM for lines 1, 2 and 5 and
(ta)daDUM tadaDUM for 3 and 4

Limericks tend to be on the naughty side, but we have to restrain ourselves a bit here.
Let's let go of nasty words
this is a place of joy
let's not make this a battleground
don't be that little boy
we used to be so nice in here
but bitter's now on show
I hate this nasty atmosphere
if it remains, I'll go
The night is quiet
But the noise inside my head
Will keep me awake
Yes, and Schwarzwälder Kirsch (Black forest Gateau) is one of my favorites

Should it come with whipped cream?

Who is your favorite singer and why?

Since the person before me didn't ask a question, I'm going back to this question.

Willy DeVille, because he was such a good musician, playing across the range of punk rock to classic blues and taking in some C&W along the way. He loved music, musicians, and performing, and his renditions of many of the blues classics are spectacular. His own songs are brilliant, and often very moving.

If you don't think you know of him, but have seen the movie The Princess Bride, well, he wrote and performed the song Storybook Love that is featured in that movie.

I had the great good fortune to see him perform live a few years before he died. A wonderful musician, singer, performer, he is still greatly missed, even if his musical repertoire is available.

OK, my question is - can you juggle, and if not, would you want to learn?

Ofcourse I know Willy DeVille and Mink DeVille and though he's not my favorite, I do agree with you about him.

And no, I can't juggle and I'm not sure I want to learn. I'd probably hit my head too often.

Would you miss wild animals in the circus if they were banned?

I would try the Opera. The other one I have no idea. I look for it.

Do you wait for your love to comeback, when it's uncertain about he or she coming back??

I think this quote answers that beautifully....

Do you like lots of fresh green chilli on your food?

I love them, but my stomach doesn't.

If I truly love her (which I do) and there is even the slightest chance she'll come back, yes, I'll wait.

what makes a cat special?
Both, I love music

why is this thread starting to look like "this or that"?
A sexy young woman from land's end
once pleasured herself with her hands and
she really had fun
but when she was done
she never found out where her pants went
You are not here now
But that will not douse the fire
that burns in my heart
No, really good peanut sauce has enough character of its own

What is your favorite oriental food?
Fireplace, love the flames playing around those blocks of wood

cooking on gas or electricity?
Because they're sweet and they're orange

what's the best orange colored thing there is?

A stiff one or a cup of tea?

Maybe it's just me, not knowing my english well enough, but I wouldn't dare asking that in a room with ladies present.
I'll have a cup of coffee, just like I prefer my woman, sweet, strong and hot.

Bread or cereal?

She became rude and sneered at everything she once held dear because one day someone had asked why does she care. She replied, because I am the only one who cares in a world that no longer gives a s***.

That is on my mind.

You are SO wrong...

If you keep shutting out those who would help you, care about you and want to befriend you for exactly who you are, then, yes, your cynical attitude is perfect. However, if you are going to travel through life with that chip on your shoulder you have no right to blame everyone else for how you are feeling.

In this life - as you will eventually learn - being the rebel is all well and good if you want to be lonely and isolated. The sad fact that ALL of have to accept is that we DO have to conform, whether we like it not. The art is finding the right compromise, and it takes practice and a lot of falling flat on your face before you do. At risk of sounding patronising, you are still very young and still have an awful lot to learn about life. I would ask that you don't give up life just yet and allow yourself to experience it and learn from it. and learn from your mistakes. That's the only way you will ever learn to become a part of it, just the same as everbody else has.

And, yes, I have written this to show you that I actually DO give a s***

Sorry but in the stiry you would she see she was tge one shut out by everyone else and it was the thing on my mind at the time being. So don't take it so seriously. Alright? Okay.

Rebs, you call that upon yourself, because what you write always feels so real. Sometimes you make it too hard for us, the poor readers, to see the thin line between fact and fiction.

Sorry, Paul, I disagree. Given her style, current series, plus personally referenced reflections posted here, it was clear to me that what was on Rebs mind was text and character, not personal stuff.

In no way can it be said she brought that reaction down upon herself. That is my personal opinion.

First of all, I meant it as a compliment to her skill as a writer, I happen to be a fan of her work. Second, I never said I read it as anything else but fiction, a little story, but I have read almost all her work. I merely stated, that she writes so real, that it isn't strange for someone relatively new to her work, to missinterpret it. It happened to me too once.

Paul and Andy.. I have a lot to say about this topic and I would think others do to.. can one of you start a separate thread and let's move it to there? It's a heavy subject and probably a little more detailed than the meatballs or cocktail sausages we are used to.. lol..

soooo..

meatballs or cocktail sausages?

I agree Larry. This is becoming to heavy for this thread. I've had my say about it however, and I think I'll leave it at that, for now at least.

Now that question about food was already answered, so I'll answer Andrew's "Do you like energy saving light bulbs?"

Yes and no. I like it, that they promise to reduce my energyconsumption. I don't like, that I don't really see the cost of lighting my house go down. Those bulbs cost five or six times as much as the old filament bulbs and sofar they haven't proven that they last much longer. But I'm sure they will improve, so overall I'm positive about them.

Nope, first if all, the judicial system has proven to be faulty. Innocent people have been and will be executed. There is no justification for that. And execution is premeditated nurder too. How can we condem one murder and justify the second.

It is my conviction that those who support capital punishment shpuld be prepared to execute it themselves, and with it, knowingly accept the risk, they might be killing an innocent human being. Would you do that?

I have given this a loot of thought over the eyars and my answer is an unequivocal YES.

If there incontrovertible PROOF that the killer was absolutley the person who committed the crime then that person deserves to be put to death. IF THERE IS THE REMOTEST DOUBT then, no, a full life sentence should be levied instead to allow the case to be later re-examined... I have always maintained that in cases where there is no doubt whatsoever of the guilt of the killer that that person should be executed.

The US appeals system that allows death-row inmates to prolong their lives by constantly delaying their execution ought to be swept away IF there is no doubt that the killer is guilty. It is a crazy system that condemns a killer to death than allows him/her to spend the next 10/12/15/20 years trying to overturn the decision! I am not a harsh person, but I strongly believe that where there is not a shodaow of a doubt about a person's guilt that that person should feel the full weight of the law upon them.

Forgive or Forget?

Forgive.

Let's complicate things. First of all, the system, as it functions now, doesn't require that absolute watertight proof of guilt. It only requires a group of citizens to believe in the guilt. Citizens, that often believe in a higher being without any admissable evidence. What they do or not believe depends as much on evidence as on the skills of prosecutors and lawyers. As long as a system functions like that, death as a sentence is too final and any mistake is murder too, legal or not.

A hypothetical case: a man kills another man, and he is guilty, beyond any doubt. hhe even admits that. The reason for that murder however is, that the other man in turn committed murder, proven to the first man beyond the shadow of doubt. Your view would make that a justified act. How should this be judged in the system?
