You can work around those fears, even hide them for yourself during the day, but your subconsciousness won't forget them and will deal with them while you sleep. A nightmare. Although things may feel pleasant whilst part of my dreamscape, they are often to weird, to deal with in real life.
If you found out, you had a sibling you weren't aware of, and by some freaky coincidence that sibling turned out to be the current love of your life, would you still be able to love her/him like you did before you knew?
