We are looking at getting a third button that will allow the member to click that to have both stories and poems visible like it used to be. That way, everyone wins. Please be patient in regards to this and we will see when it can get done.

Thank you.

Thank You Blue for that information. As usual, you were very helpful.
Yes, this site can change anything they wish on the appearance or rules of Stories Space without any consultation or approval by the members. It is owned and the owner or their representative have that right.

I can tell you from first hand knowledge that every Mod on this site (except maybe me, I think benevolent dictators are great) greatly appreciates the input and desires of the members. There are many discussions on ideas and inputs by you, the members. I admired the work and efforts the Mods where doing for us, but once I was in their circle I got to see the full extent of their dedication.

This issue is not being ignored. Recently we have had a big influx of new writers (very good ones too, I must say) and stories/poems. At the same time we had a shortage of Mods for various reason, including myself for a few days. (Sorry about that, not my choice) The Mods that were available were very busy doing their primary responsibility, getting your submissions posted. I will look into what specifically is going to be done and post my finding here on this thread.

Thank you for your patients.
This is strictly a speculative thought. It would need to go though the powers that be to see if it were possible and acceptable.

1) No Moderator will get any additional work unless they volunteered.

2) A single person be picked to run this who is never allowed to vote.

3) The person running the voting would pick five volunteers to vote on stories/poems for one month.

4) Writers could submit only one piece total, either poem or story, not one of each.

5) At the end of the month, the five voters would list their picks of the top six poems and a separate list of top six stories. The lists will be ranked first through sixth

6) The person in charge will tally the votes; 10 points for first, 7 points for second, 5 points for third, 3 points for fourth, 2 points for fifth, and 1 point for sixth.

7) A list would be posted (probably on the forum, but possible on the front page) of the top five poems and stories by total point value.

8) Any story receiving ten or more points or that is listed on four voters' lists and does not score high enough to make the list will receive a honorable mention.

9) Writer of top scored story and poem may, if they wish, be a voting member next month. The person in charge will then pick volunteers to fill out the five person panel.

10) A voting member may submit an entry, but may not vote for themselves.

11) No voting member may be on the voting panel for six months after serving, unless they are rated number one for a month. Only exception is if no other qualifying volunteers are available.

12) At the end of the year, each monthly winner will be voted on in the same manner by a separate panel of ten voting members for the stop poems and stories of the year.

I think this would work well. Give a lot of opportunities for participation as both writers and voters. It should limit favoritism, though I think there is no way to completely do away with it. By limiting it to only one piece per writer it should give more chances to some of the less experienced writers as many writers on here are good enough to qualify in both categories. This way there will be ten different Stories Space members recognized each month. I think the biggest key is high participation as voters. If we could get enough voters, the number of voting members could be doubled, if so honorable mention requirement would need to be adjusted.
In the third chapter of Love's Transition, I wrote a sentence describing the main characters mouth when she woke up in her hospital room.

'My mouth felt like it was full of dessert sand, dry and gritty.'

How do you feel about feedback you have gotten here for writings you have posted?

Always appreciate it. I have learned a lot from the insightful feedback and comments that I have received.
The only complaint I could have is that I do not get enough constructive criticism.
I sometimes think friends hold back concerned about my feelings. They seem to forget that friends to not hold back the truth.

Would you rather received helpful criticism in the comment of your writing or in a PM.

Have you ever had a concussion?

Yes, obviously. I am married.

What one ailment do you have that you would like to get rid of?

I agree with you. Poems are important too.

I agree. Presently there seem to be far more members whose main interest are the poems rather than the stories. We need to keep that in mind.
If there was a third button for everything at once and it was the default setting, it would start the way it was and give the option to look at poems or stories separately.

Perhaps there should be three buttons on the front page: New (Stories and poems, like the old-style front page), Poems (New poems only) Stories (New stories only).

I think that is a good idea.

Back to my question: What is the number one chore you would happily never have to do again?

Dishes - I really and truly hate washing dishes.

BTW it is wonderful to exchange differing points of views with an intellect individual and look... no insulting innuendoes.
Maybe instead of giving up the Mars mission we can take the money from military expenditures instead.

If you could give up eating or sleeping without affecting your health, which would you pick to do without?

Do you agree with the mission to Mars, would it not be more to the point to spend all those Billions on fixing this planet?

Spending those billions to fix this planet would be far more to the point, in my opinion.

What is the number one chore you would happily never have to do again?

No, I do not think so.
The world would be bettered much more by the advances in science from overcoming the technical difficulties of the proposed mission plus there is no way of even guessing what leaps in knowledge may occur from what is learned there.
The advancement of science for the sake of science is always expensive with no apparent monetary benefit, but the advancement of knowledge can lead to vast improvements in our daily lives.
The mission to the moon made a huge impact in the daily lives of billions of people. It kicked the advancement of electronics and computer technology ahead two decades.
The Apollo spacecraft was the ultimate in computer tech at the time, but within a decade you could buy a calculator for $100 that had more than a thousand times the computer power.
There were huge advancements in understanding the human body under extraordinary environments which lead to advances in medicine.
Humankind is curious for a reason. Increasing knowledge is more valuable at enhancing our lives than anything else. The millions whose lives you may improve now, would turn into billions with the advancements possible.
I have lived long enough to see what the 'Race to the Moon' caused. The same questions were raised then and I have seen the results of those advancements. They were worth ten times what we paid or even more.

Would our world and daily lives be better if science advance much slower? (about 10 times slower; example going from black and white TV to color took 130 years instead of 13 years)

Would you join the colonization of mars, knowing that is a one-way trip?

Hell yes, in a split second. Sheldon and I could share a tent/room. It has been a lifetime dream to go into space and explore the universe, as least our minute piece of it.

I fasted for six days once. Only water. The last two days were easier than days 3-4.

Would you rather have a glorious, yet painful death in public, or a quite simple death alone?
Rednecks that like turning their steering wheel in only one direction. BTW there are tracks that are driven clockwise. (right-hand turns) At least there used to be a few years ago. My family are NASCAR nuts, I am the 'weird' one.

If a woman (or a man) has silicon implants, when she goes to very great heights, will her bust size increase? At extreme attitude, could they explode?
Back to the Future Part II (1989) BTW tis was Elijah Wood's very first movie. He played a boy playing video games.

Yes I do.

Is darkness the absence of light or is light the absence of darkness?
Quote by Dreamcatcher
Actually, light does have mass.. if it inhabits space it has mass.. whether it is relevant mass is another discussion.. so I would pat him on the back..

No, but I can write on a vap/chalkboard while facing my class.

I have a friend on this site that believes the crazy idea that photons have mass. He is very smart and well educated, but must have forgotten this.
(he believes if it inhabits space it has mass, despite the fact that photons do not interact with the universal Higg's Field)
What should I do? Ignore this foolishness, encourage his out-of-the-box thinking regardless of how fantastical it is, or just put him out of his misery?

Same ?

I know. I left the door open and you had to walk in.

The same thing I did when I originally found out, tell no one.

My oldest son (he is very smart) tried to explain to me a crazy idea that photons have mass. No matter how much I showed him how the science worked, he would only believe this fantasy was true.
(he believed that since light has momentum, it must have mass)
What should I do? Ignore this foolishness, encourage his out-of-the-box thinking regardless of how fantastical it is, or just put him out of his misery?
