Well, I am back. What, no one noticed?! Your vacation from my nonsense is over until it happens again, and it will.

Roland's mind went on vacation for about a week, and it has taken a few days to recover. The LBD is in its late fourth stage and slipping into early 5th stage of the disease. I can not complain. I was initially diagnosed to enter the seventh stage in 2017, which usually ends with death in 6-9 months. I am literally living on borrowed time and loving it. Days of not really existing will become more common and last longer from now on. I went almost a month with only minor lapses, and that is unusual. BTW, the week of bad time may have started because I got dehydrated. How could that happen? I was drinking lots of tea here in the breakroom.

I have been watching many baseball games, but only the last three days are in my memory. I did go back and watch the highlights. Some great stuff like watching the excellent fielding centerfielder for the White Sox misjudge a fly ball, and the ball bounced off his head into rightfield for a three-base error. It is too early to worry about your teams' records. I do not start paying serious attention until the end of April. Too bad the Washington Senators missed several games and have had to start the season without many of their best players due to Covid-19 concerns. I was looking forward to seeing if Schwarber could step up to the next level with Washington. If he does, he becomes one of the best offensive players in baseball.

I have a significant backlog of stories to catch up with my reading; I will be starting tomorrow.

Political joke: What do you call the 50% of white Republicans who say they will not take the Covid-19 vaccine? Evolution in motion.

Till tomorrow stay healthy and happy, my friends.

P.S. My wife and I are going to watch 'Godzilla vs. Kong' next week.
Hi all.

A note for those of you from my generation, Beverly Cleary, a contemporary of Dr. Seuss, passed away Thursday. She wrote many children and teen books, including the 'Henry Huggins' series, several books based on the 'Leave it to Beaver TV show, and my favorite 'Fifteen.' I grew up learning to read with her. She will be missed.

Till later, my friends.

I'm getting pretty excited myself about opening day. Juan Soto. Just sayin'. The Nats don't always reach their potential but every year it a new start and new beginning. With fervent hope.

That is what makes baseball so great. The nature of the sport (injuries, trades, inconsistent players through a daily grind of 162 games in approximately 185 days) makes it possible for almost any team to make the play-offs.
By the end of spring training, most players do believe their team could come out on top. Here are my predictions for 2021: {projected wins - projected wins are +/- 3}

NL East - 1st Mets {92}, 2nd Braves {91}, 3rd Nationals {84}, 4th Phillies {81}, 5th Marlins {70}
NL Central - 1st Cubs {88}, 2nd Cardinals {86}, 3rd Reds {83}, 4th Brewers {82}, 5th Pirates {58}
NL West - 1st Dodgers {102}, Padres (92}, 3rd Diamondbacks {76}, 4th Giants {73}, 5th Rockies {63}

AL East - 1st Yankees {95}, 2nd Blue Jays {87} and Rays {87}, 4th Red Sox {79}, 5th Orioles {64}
AL Central - 1st White Sox {91}, 2nd Twins {88}, 3rd Indians {79}, 4th Royals {73}, 5th Tigers {66}
AL West - 1st Athletics {88}, 2nd Astros {87}, 3rd Angels {85}, 4th Mariners {74}, 5th Rangers {66}

Cubs beat the White Sox in 6 games during the World Series! (that is the Cubbie in me speaking, in reality, the White Sox will beat the Dodgers in the World Series)

My gosh... I am such a baseball geek.
Granted... but since Stanley Unwin is dead then no one will be able to understand your stories

I wish I had six fingers on one hand so I could flip-off two people at once.
I am up early this morning, so I will get the coffee and tea kettle started. Brought some donuts and bagels. The cream cheese and honey are right here too.
Got a special treat for everyone. My daughter-in-law, Melissa, made my favorite, German chocolate cake. So, everyone enjoy.
Where did all the cookies go? Jeff, you cookie bandit, what have you done?

Watching the Cubs-Dodgers game from last night. They are starting the 4th inning and both pitchers are throwing perfect games!

My two kittens, Bubblegum and Butterscotch, have learned to jump up on my lap while I am at the computer. They like to jump up on the keyboard.

Everyone have a good day.
Granted... but instead of the beautiful Venus, the doctor aboard, you will be the transparent robot co-pilot. Then we will be able to see the tremendous size of your heart as well as your brain.
Fireball XL-5 was my favorite show as a first grader.

I wish I could have an at-bat during spring training!

Granted: You are now following in the footsteps of Sally Ride, but the next space flight is one-way only.

I would take my chances.

Granted... and your box will be here for anyone desiring a crunchy breakfast treat.

I wish those days could come back once more. Why did those days ever have to go? ('I Wish' - - Stevie Wonder)
Hello everyone!

I am flipping back-and-forth between writing here and watching last night's Cubs game. Bill, there is no bigger baseball fan than me!

I'm glad Bill mentioned Landon Marceaux of LSU. Liz, being a Cajun, has me keep up with her Tigers, and he was seen as a future phenom back in his Freshman year in 2019 with a 90 MPH fastball and a good curveball. Last year he did OK but only got four starts due to the NCAA shutting down baseball because of Covid-19. He can hit 93 MPH and has now improved his slider. If he does not get hurt, he could easily be drafted this year as a junior.

Today I am starting a new routine. The weather is finally good enough for me to spend time outside on my porch, so I'll be spending 30-45 minutes a day out there reading after dinner. I am hoping it will help me relax.

I am joining Bill with my tea so he can explain the new baseball rules this year to me.
Granted... now you are capable of reading the word 'properly' as well as the rest of us.

I wish I could be an astronaut.
My usual green tea, please, and I brought a dozen glazed donuts.

After the Colorado shootings, I made my yearly pilgrimage through government and law enforcement data to remind myself how foolish America is concerning guns.
The ten killed in the Boulder, Colorada shooting increases the number of mass shooting victims in the US to 500 this year. Maybe someday, the American culture will begin to mature from adolescence.

I'm delighted to see that your recovery is going so well, Larry.

When my back flares up, I have found spending one extra day in bed prevents reinjuring or straining my back, so be careful, Jeff.

Watch over that sweet little angel of yours, Sharon; they could save the world someday. I am glad they are feeling better.

Bill, my prayers go out for your great-grandkids. Just think, someday you can tell them what it was like before the invention of fire.

I am almost through with a piece I want to share with you all. I hope I can finish it soon so that Liz can check it for me.
Granted... but you are too big to fit into the toaster; besides, you are out of butter to slather upon your brown self.

I wish I were as funny as Bill the Rumpled.
Granted... but you will be thoroughly bored.

I wish my wife would quit snoring.

Sometimes I don't think Jane knows how beautiful she really is.

...yeah, I'm soft and in love.

'Last Week Tonight with John Oliver' started their show off by mentioning Jane Lynch. The video is over 22 minutes long, but the Jane reference is in the first 17 seconds.

Hello all!

Jeff, sorry to see that your back is giving you so much trouble. Liz has had disc surgery twice. I know that back pain is terrible because it affects everything, and any movement is awful. We are both hoping you are feeling better soon.

Sharon, it is so good to see you here. I like your website, and I am looking forward to any new pieces on SS. Your work is always great.

I got a significant 35% military discount as a retiree on my MLB.com subscription this year. That saved me $44.50 on the price. Since my monthly allowance is $50, that is great. Now I can watch every MLB baseball game for the season.
I had to wait until our stimulus check of $1,400 came in Friday to get it this year. Has anyone else got the stimulus money yet from the Covid relief bill that passed?

After having a below-average weekend, I a feeling much better today. I will peruse the cookies for my sugar high and have some herbal tea.

It is so nice to spend time with friends.
It is great to see all of you getting the vaccines. We have had enough death from this. More than 2.7 million deaths in the world and 550,000 deaths in the US. (That includes more than 11,000 in the VA facilities)
I am so fortunate. We in the Lytle household have had no deaths among our family or friends. We are blessed in this regard. Yet, somehow, I have felt the misery of those deaths and cried tears for their survivors.

Sorry for the downer this afternoon. I am just finding it hard to cope with it all. I guess I am just a fool to lament the world's losses when I have so much to be grateful for.

I will have some green tea and set awhile. A relaxing time with friends will rejuvenate me, I hope.

I know nothing about the E-Book market.

How many sales would you consider as a successful release?
I am watching the Godzilla anima on NF, and Re-watching "Agents of Shield' too. Today on Disney+ the new Falcon & Winter Soldier series is supposed to start.
What’s the biggest difference between a bum on a unicycle and a well-dressed man on a bicycle? Attire.
Granted, but only with your toes and while you are sleeping.

I wish I could go to sleep on a regular schedule.

I just checked back for the past month and I have read and scored 42 stories and poems here on our site. Is that meeting your challenge, Molly? I hope to do better in the coming months. Enjoy the reading dear Inspirators.

We should all strive to do as well as Larry. I can not usually read every day, so my reading is often several days after the story available. I try to save reading for my good days so that I do not screwup the writers' thoughts and ideas.
