Based on the King novel or the movie? There are differences. Or something else entirely and I am leaping to a wrong conclusion based on you being psyched for it?

Based on the book. We made sure it wasn't a musical first. smile

Thanks for doing the setup, Ape. Hope you are recovering nicely. Sounds like a nice break, actually, if it allows you to write.

Yeah, Talia is a keeper. I’m doing okay, but I was a little freaked out for awhile, and she was the key to my staying calm. She is good for me. This has been a hard few weeks.

Anyway. Writing calls. Coffee too. And the World Series starts tonight, albeit between two pretty boring teams (though our fearless leader Rump was a big D-Backs fan if I recall).

We are seeing the play Misery this weekend. I’m very psyched. Good scary Halloween fun.

The wind is howling, and this weekend should see our first snowfall. Enjoy the weekend folks!

presto chango I wave my hand and setup is done by magic! Costco coffee a-perking, our Ashberry Ape and Bilious Banana blends of teas are a-steeping, and Sara’s spooky cookies are on display.

Therapy day today, AND a doctor visit! Fun! And writing, writing, writing.

Can I just say I have the best wife in the entire world? I’ve been a bit of a mess, but I’m doing better, and she is just unflagging loving and strong. I’m lucky to have found her.

Okay, stuff to do, so I will see you later. If anyone shows up here today…

World Series should be interesting this year ... Arizona Dbacks vs Texas Rangers . Both haven't been to the world series in several years .

The tickets at Chase Field (home of the Dbacks ) are pricey (350.00 for nosebleed section) mad but the seats are selling out fast no way I'm paying that much .

I wanted Phillies/Astros. sad But you know me, I will still watch.

I've only been to one World Series game, and it was pretty fun, even if the Mets got crushed by the Yankees.

Cool comp up at another site. Entries for DAYS!

Coffee is perky, teas are steepy, cookies are plated. Come on in!

Walks in, waves hand and presto chango! Ape has already done the setup!

Still a little foggy, but trying to crawl back to normalcy. Write all day, and I will skip the walk. I have an MRI tonight. You'd think they could schedule these things at normal times.

Still enjoying reading Lonesome Dove. One of the Great American novels of the 20th century.

A coffee and a cookie! Go Phillies!

EDIT: Sara came in and did the set-up while I was rambling on. Yay! I'd love a ghosty cookie! Sorry about your Braves.

Not quite. If you regress, you are that age mentally, although biologically, you are usually much older. It's usually a way to cope with things like trauma but some people like to do it just for fun. My story features the latter and has the two main characters in a loving relationship - one is regressed and the other is their caregiver.

This sounds interesting, and I would definitely read it. Make sure you mention when it goes up!

Let’s assume Ape’s last setup is still in effect. I’d love a coffee and a cookie.

Talia had never heard of B Kliban’s Cats comic book! Anyone else remember that? We bought it on Amazon and are now reading a few each night. Cool book!

Health issues still in the air, but we are working on solutions. I’m pushing hard toward the end of this book, but I am going to try to get in couple anthologies with: a weird horror western, and a ghost story. So lots of writing I am behind on.

I hope everyone is well.

Thanks for the setup, Ape, and thanks for the healing vibes Red. Still not doing great, but I hope things will turn out well. In better news, I am almost done with a (short) book. End of year definitely.

Still haven't read the newest stories here, but I will. Life is busy right now.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

I am so using this as a title someday (if you don't beat me to it). Though "Great Googley Eye" would be a terrific band name, too.

You may not have my title until you pry it from my cold dead fingers. smile

I hope everyone is well. Busy times here at home. A nagging health issue is complicating our lives. We hope it resolves itself.

A coffee would be great! Thanks for setting up Ape.

Finally back in town. The weather was perfect, and the eclipse was awesome - a perfect circle hanging in the sky for 4 minutes. Both Talia and I said at the same time it looked like a googley eye. The Great Googley Eye of God!

Looking forward to more spookiness from Ape and Molly, but right now I am kinda exhausted. I hope everyone is doing well. The comp on another site looks crazy fun.

Coffee please, if there is any. And a black cat cookie!

I'm reading Larry McMurtry:A Life. Just got to the part where he is writing Terms of Endearment. Then I am going reread Lonesome Dove for the third time.

Thanks for setting up!

Busy day today, we leave for Albuquerque tomorrow for the eclipse. About to meet the cat sitter! 😺

Wish us clear skies! A coffee to go would be nice.

Lawn mowers on the block woke me up early. Happens every Tuesday. Looking forward to winter just so I can sleep in. Grumpy and sleepy.

Getting ready to the big eclipse trip. We leave in two days!

I hope everyone is well. Coffee would be great.

Spent the weekend with a pinched nerve and a numb leg. I have never been to a chiropractor before but I think I am going to try to find one today.

Sucky way to start the day. Should be a fun week - I have a story coming out in The Black Beacon Book of Horror and we are off to Albuquerque to see the eclipse on Thursday - but it’s starting out annoyingly.

Thanks for the setup Scott. I would love a coffee.

Hi everyone.

Cookies and coffee and teas abound!

I don't have much else to say. Holly (the book) rocked! See ya!

tumbleweeds

I hope everyone is well.

Coffee and teas are waiting. Cookies too!

Yay, someone else did the setup! Huzzah!

Yeh, Jaws 3D is as bad as the original Jaws is good. The USS Indianapolis speech alone is worth the cost of admission.

Cooling off today! Nice crisp Autumn day. All pumpkin-y! I hope winter cold is still a few weeks off.

Enjoy the day!

Weather is cooling off. It’s nice to feel fall in the air, though I will miss the sun, and the prime walking weather. I am going to try walking in cooler weather this year, maybe even winter walking.

FOUR baseball today, and drama in the halls of Congress. I may let my focus wander today. smile

Enjoy your day everyone! Thanks for the cookies Sara!

tumbleweeds

Hope everyone is well. Come stop by for a cup of something!

Writing and reading today. It is a little cool out, but I will still try a walk I think.

No baseball today. Braves and Rangers will be the teams to beat. I am picking those two for the Wold Series.

Coffee and tea are waiting. Cookies too!

I've been eagerly anticipating this series, although the trailer I saw said it starts on October 12. I enjoy Mike Flannagan's work.

It seems early, but I am hosting everyone again for Thanksgiving. My kids wanted to make sure so they could plan accordingly. I love having family and cooking, but just once, I'd like to relax and not have to plan and worry about the whole holiday.

We are doing some painting of guest bedrooms this weekend ahead of the holiday and partly for guests attending the spring wedding, we are hosting.

Enjoy the weekend, everyone. Cheers.

You are right, I got mixed up looking at the calendar. Nothing new there. Looking forward to it.

I bought a second telescope at a garage sale yesterday. Couldn’t say no. $100, for a telescope built in 1966, and a nice set of lenses. I’ll test out the optics today.

Other than that, not much going on. Glad the government didn’t shut down.

Enjoy the last day of the weekend!

Sounds like a Western? Or maybe s-f?

Memoir.

Finally saw a doctor yesterday. It was hard to get an appointment, during COVID and well past. She said, "You haven't seen us in awhile!" All seems to be well.

Today is writing and walking, and if I hit my thousand words early I'm going to the weed store to treat myself.

The Fall of the House of Usher drops Monday! I'm so psyched! I wished it dropped today so we could binge it all weekend.

I'm tired of making up tea names - someone else set up! For today, we'll have Costco coffee perking, and Snoozy Salamander and Hyper Monkey are our teas. And of course, BASEBALL COOKIES! Last weekend of the regular season...

Enjoy, all!

Possible title? 😉 I mean, it's not original (Ambrose Bierce wrote one called "That Damned Thing") but you could do much worse. 😋

So I awoke up at 2am, used the loo, and then barely slept after that. Feel like (censored) today. Don't even want to consume copious amounts of caffeine because that might disrupt me tonight.

Working title is The High Lonesome, though that will certainly change.

Off to the doctor for a checkup, which means an hour of waiting in the waiting room, which means I can kick back with the bio of Larry McMurtry. Great book so far. Might even bring a thermos of coffee.

Speaking of coffee…it’s perking, and teas are steeping. Plus cookies!

So, episode two. Drew has definitely gone completely gray and I'm absolutely here for it.

Not only that, but he seems flirtier than usual (but that might just be me).

Drew was always pretty flirty, in a wholesome, inclusive sort of way. Talented guy.

Started the new Larry McMurtry biography last night. Really good so far. After I am done I am going to read Lonesome Dove for the third time. Be lucky you don’t live with me - I talked about it all night last night. Pray for Talia’s sanity.

I am 17k words into whatever this Damned Thing is I am working on. Put it together and counted up the words.

So…presto chango… Cosco coffee is a-perking, Kitty Zoomies and Plodding Platypus teas are a-steeping, and Sara’s baseball cookies are a-crunching

Seize the coffee!

Finished Holly last night. Very satisfying read. One of King’s best in years.

Six more Mets games left. They haven’t one in a week (feels like weeks) but I should probably catch a game before they disappear for six months. Looks like the Braves are gonna be the team to beat in the postseason.

Still writing memoir, with about 20k words down. Feels like about a third of the way through. It’s hard but satisfying. When I walk I feel like I am sweating memory.

I still have that scary tooth story in the back of my head though! And a very dark one brewing, if I can figure it out.

I’d love a coffee.

I’m not that into football, but Lord, all anyone can talk about here is that 70-20 Broncos loss. Ugly, even by the standards of a Met fan.

Holly is a really satisfying read, Gil. I’ve got about 100 pages left. Great villains in this book, and a really good main character.

Woke up early for frikk mowers and weed walkers. Might as well get up and drink some coffee.

Yeah, King is hit and miss, but this one is good (Holly). It refers to some previous books (the End of Watch trilogy) but you don’t need to read them.

Spooky season is upon us! I hope we can get some spooooooky cookies from Sara. For our part, we’ll try for a scary movie in the theater - It Lives Inside looks scary.

I have no new dental adventures to report. Looking to be a good day. Coffee please!

Is anyone shocked when I say my day will once again revolve around dentistry?

Thankfully, today is just a follow-up, and things look chill. I should be home within an hour, and I have a new Stephen King to read (Holly is wonderful, a thriller, nothing supernatural so far).

So: writing and walking! Yesterday was the first day in well over a week I was able to have a day where I write and walk. I'm a creature of habit, and glad to be back to doing them.

A coffee please! And a cough Braves cookie. They are the team to beat.

Whew. I was getting worried, but my daughter’s numbness finally went away. Nerve damage was a real concern. Glad that drama is over with. Until then next one.

Therapy, and writing that is similar to therapy, is on my plate today. A warms sunny day, so I will probably walk too.

Coffee is a cookie would be awesome!

Back to the grind! Costco is perking, teas are teaing, cookies on a platter

My daughter seems to be doing okay, though there is still some troubling numbness. We’ll see. Parenthood is not for the faint of heart.

Between my dental stuff and my daughter’s, I haven’t written in like a week. I hope to remedy that today. I might be writing a book. smile

Enjoy your day everyone!

Clearly I was overreacting. smile I expected it to take 2 hours, it was over in 20 minutes. Pulling four impacted molars! The pain hasn't hit yet, but I think everything should be fine.

Still, it was nice to be the comforting Dad presence.

I'm going to eat and then take a nap. Thanks for setting up Ape. No more coffee for me.
