Bill, I'm sorry the Mets waited until this weekend to wake up. Sweeps hurt - I remember the Cubs sweeping us a couple weeks ago. If it makes you feel better, our best pitcher had to leave the game with muscle tightness. Hopefully he's not injured.

Cold and rainy here today. What a weird spring. It's always cold and wet.

I've already scared coyotes out of our yard once today. They're getting bold. I scared him away by banging pots and pans. Later I am going to hang up blinky lights that are supposed to mimic animal eyes. I am also (no, I'm not making this up) going to pee along the fenceline all this week. If those techniques don't work, I want to buy a life-sized plastic coyote that is supposed to work well - you just set it out in the yard. Talia is less than thrilled by this approach.

Coffee and a handful of cookies please. A crumb for my Ant (full name Ant E Pesto) and a hug for the monkey.
The Mets are playing Bill's D-Backs as I type this - I can feel the broadcast signal ACTUALLY PASSING THROUGH MY BODY!!! But i won't be able to watch til tonight. So I'll pop in and out quick, before the score is revealed to me. Our big guy, DeGrom, is on the mound, which is the good news. They NEVER score runs for him would be the bad news.

Speaking of the Big Guy, where is Roland? Haven't seen him around for a bit. Love to talk some baseball with him.

A coffee for me, a crumb for my Ant (full name Ant E Disestablishmentarianism), and a baseball cookie for the monkey.
We all survived our Covid vaccine! 22 hours later, and all we have are sore arms. And better wifi reception!

The Mets won a nailbiter against Bill's D-Backs last night. Playing again tonight. I think the Snakes are facing the weak underbelly of the Mets rotation tonight.

Beautiful day today. I hope to enjoy it.

Coffee and a cookie for me, a cookie crumb for my Ant (full name Ant E Histamine), and if Molly would like anything, tell her she may put it on my tab.

And...Talia and I (and friend) just returned from our second Covid shots! It's feels so freeing! We're all hunkering down for possible side effects now.

I'll have a final coffee. And my ant, named Ant (full name Ant S. Ipation), will have a cookie crumb.

Hope there are no side effects .. giving you a coffee and a cookie crumb to Ant .
And Molly offering you a paw print cookie .

Tell Molly thank you. It looks deLISH!

Ant says thanks as well.

Hi peeps

Jeff what would covid cookies look like ? *Giggles*

Like this!

Mets won yesterday, and tonight we play Bill's D-Backs.

We are all getting our second shot at 1:30 today. Of the three of us, I predict I will feel the least sick, and so take care of everyone else. I'm psyched!

Since I've been disallowed from playing with the monkey (who knew rules regarding fictional virtual wildlife were so strict?) I guess I'll play with this ant on the table. Hope she doesn't go after the cookies! I'll name her Ant E. Matter.

Coffee and a Covid cookie please.

My dental appointment went fine. Yay!

Now where'd that lil monkey get to?

Jeff, you will notice after a while that Molly the Monkey sticks with Sara almost all the time. The only time they are separated is when Sara has to go out and must leave Molly behind. She will stay with me when that happens. :

I can't hang out with Molly? Sigh. Tough crowd.

Mets tied 1-1.

EDIT: Mets won 4-1.
My dental appointment went fine. Yay!

We have a very good friend coming into town tonight, so that tomorrow she, I and Talia can all go get our second vaccine shots. It's a vaccine party! After we all plan to hunker down together and help each other through any symptoms that might pop up.

The weather is gorgeous today, and will be the next couple days. Bizarrely, we have snow forecast for Monday. So you are likely getting crappy weather in a few days too, Sarah.

Mets split a double header last night. They looked terrible. Afternoon game today!

I'd love a coffee and a cookie. Any Covid shaped ones?

Now where'd that lil monkey get to?
Stuck at one age. I'm pretty happy with my situation - let's make it the exact age I am now.

Would you rather be a cat or a dog?

Happy Birthday, Scott! Getting jabbed in the arm and a takeout from your fave Viet-Thai place sounds as good a way to celebrate as any! I'll add a lemon drizzle cake to Sara's wonderful cookies to celebrate the occasion!

Thanks so much, Gill, Elizabeth and everyone. Mum is now in hospital (thankfully she's had both Covid jabs) with it being 3rd time lucky calling the ambulance out in the middle of the night! She's under investigation and the consultant is calling it a bit of a puzzle as to what is causing the severe pain. Mum will be 90 in a couple of weeks, so you can understand why I'm a bit frazzled. Everyone's kindness and well-wishes mean a lot.

Elizabeth, I'm so sorry to hear about your eye issue, which sounds very unpleasant. I do hope the consultation with the eye surgeon is helpful. Hugs to you!

So happy she is being looked after, and I hope you find the root cause for her pain.

Speaking of pain, I go to the dentist in about a hour. I'll come home to a double header and drown my sorrows in the 14 innings that follow.

Peace, everyone.

Coffee and a cookie please.
Oooh, thunderstorm. I LOVE thunderstorms.

Would you rather be too hot or too cold?

Just going to relax with an iced tea and some cookies. Cut the grass and did some other yard stuff. Nice weather for it. The breeze is a bit chilly but I was pushing the mower so the sweat I worked up kind of cancelled that out.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ya big ape!
Still cold and rainy? Check.

The Mets suffer another embarrassing loss last night? Check. They fired all their hitting coaches because, well, they can't hit.

Coyotes still sneaking into the back yard? Check. I saw one attack a squirrel last night ABOUT 15 FEET FROM MY HEAD! DURING MY CRITIQUE GROUP!!! Luckily there was a pane of glass separating us. Today I am deciding on our coyote repellent strategies. I'm gonna make a couple noisemakers out of soda cans and pennies, and set out air horns, so that we can make a ton of noise the nest time we see one.

I'm also going pour MY OWN URINE along the fenceline, in an attempt to establish territory and keep them at bay. Talia, incredibly, approves.

Time to write? Check.

Coffee and a cookie and a hug from that lil monkey and I'll be on my way.
Sorry to hear about your mom, Henrietta. I hope she feels better soon.

Cold and rainy here. What a weird cold Spring this has been.

Not much on the agenda. Have a writer's critique tonight, and one of my stories is in the hopper, so that should be fun, if nerve-wracking.

Mets won a crazy one last night. Mets and Elizabeth's Nats are tied for first, albeit with anemic .500 records. Sara's Bravos are in the basement, but the season is young. And over there in the West, Bill's D-Backs and Padres are the only winning records from the Inspirations crew. Roland, you love baseball clearly, but I can't figure out which team you are a fan of. Or are you just a fan of the game?

Other than that, write, have a lovely dinner with Talia, and watch a time delay of the game later tonight. Sounds like the framework for a lovely day.

Coffee and a cookie please!
Fish and chips. I'm not a big fan of burgers (though I do make a mean turkey burger).

Milkshake or malt?
More lawn work though I think we're done for the day. The guy who un-wintertized our sprinkler system did a crappy job - I found two sectors that need work. Grrr. Hopefully they'll come back and do the job right with no extra charge.

Occasional thunderstorms today, which is perfect lawn weather for me. Not too hot, not too much sun, an occasional sprinkle of rain to keep me cool and the air smelling lovely.

The Mets actually won a game! Lost first place, though, as well as a winning record. If we win tonight we can take the series. LOTS of bad blood between the Mets and Phillies this year.

Going to a virtual party tonight. Really don't wanna go, but I'll put in an appearance.

I hope everyone is doing well. Gill, hope your birthday rocked.

A lite beer please. And a COOKIE!
Gorgeous day, and I am looking forward to it!

I sent out two stories yesterday. Five out overall now. I am taking the day off writing, eating lunch with one of my daughters, and then going out to dinner with Talia. Looking forward to all of it. I will not sully the day by watching an other Mets loss.

My Dad's birthday is today. He died just over a year ago. I still grapple with it, though as time goes by I am learning to accept his long and gentle presence in my life as a gift, rather than focus on the loss brought by his death.

Coffee and a cookie please.
Strawberry, though not a big jam fan.

English muffin or pancake?
Them is really disturbing, but really good television. It's goes places you don't expect it to.

I love sci-fi and I love Anna Kendrick, but Stowaway on Netflix is only passable.
I don't know what was worse, the dentist or the Mets wasting anothing fine DeGrom pitching effort. How can you only allow three runs in two games but lose them both? At least they don't play tonight, which will save me the aggravation.

Gill, monkey chow is best left undescribed.

Not much else going on. I have plantar's wart I'm getting looked at today. If they freeze it off, maybe it'll be grist for another horror story!

Sunny and warm today. Should be a nice day. Writing and coffee await me.

Me and that lil monkey will be in the corner with the cookies. A coffee if you please.
Man, that monkey chow sucks! I'm back to coffee and cookies.

The Mets look awful, everyone else in the NL East looks worse. No one has a winning record in the entire division! Weird.

Writing a little today. Finishing a serious story about drug addiction that I guess is in the Urban Horror genre, then starting a goofier one about death crickets, before I go to the dentist. Wah. My evening: pain pills and baseball.

I have an idea for a story that might be a good fit for another site, but don't want to get sidetracked.

WriterGirl has an excellent first two chapters on the front page, btw.

Cookies and coffee please. And here's a dollar toward the "Sara broke the window" fund.
Thanks for the shout out Bill. Yes, I have a sci-fi story up on the front page. Check it out if you find the time. I don't live too far from the actual Cheyenne Mountain and NORAD, so I always have conspiracy theories about it swimming around in my head.

Anyway: Ghosts of Cheyenne Mountain is here - https://www.storiesspace.com/stories/science-fiction/-ghosts-of-cheyenne-mountain-.aspx

Thanks as well everyone who gave me encouragement about the novel. I am hitting the brakes a little--I think I got overly jazzed during the writer's conference and was ready to fire up all the jets and take off. But I still need to make more notes. I want to do this right. Maybe in a month or so. Soon. But not yet.

Mets play the BoSox tonight. We are still, bizarrely, in first place. We also have played 5 fewer games than almost anyone else. And Roland, don't get me started about 7 inning games. Grrr.

I think we should take up a collection to pay for the window that someone (Sara...?) broke with the baseball yesterday.

Coffee and a little monkey chow on a cracker please.
Nice to see you here Kim.

So I have the outline of a novel sitting on big sheets of art paper, mocking me, daring me to start. I'm scared to pull the trigger. I tried writing this a couple years ago and got bogged down a few chapters in, so I'm reluctant to end up with a similar fate this time. But the writer's conference has me all jazzed to give it another try. So we shall see - I've got a couple short stories in the hopper now, but after that....

No Mets baseball tonight. We play the BoSox tomorrow. That Padres-Dodgers series was epic, Larry! Tatis hit FIVE home runs in three games! Did you see his "one eyed" jog around the bases?

Gorgeous, gorgeous day today. Time to write, with a long walk later. Yay!

Coffee and two cookies, please. If that cute lil monkey would like a cookies, please give her one for me too.

Peace.

Welcome to our little cafe, WriterGirl. Please to make yer acquaintance.

After a lovely day yesterday in which we got a ton of yardwork done, today is chilly and blustery. Spring in Ontario. Gotta love it. (Or move to BC where things are bit less variable)

I see verbal hasn't been in to help the monkey finish off the cookies so I'll just grab a couple to have with my afternoon green tea.

Me and the monkey thank you for the remaining cookies, Sara (and for Scott for leaving us some)!

Fun baseball weekend, and it's so cool that we have this place to talk about baseball! DeGrom pitched a gem of a game on Friday, though the Nats humiliated the Mets the next day. Tatis, of Larry's Padres, hit two home runs against the Dodgers on the anniversary of his Dad hitting two grand slams against the Dodgers. Dodgers/Padres is gonna be a massive rivalry this year, a knock down, drag out fight for the division. Bill's D-Backs are beating up on Sara's Braves as I type this. What a great game.

Attending a video writers conference this weekend. It's pretty good - last session is imminent. I have a novel all plotted out on paper BUT I am scared to type out that first word and begin the journey.

I hope everyone had an excellent weekend.

Iced tea and one little cookie please.

Bill, your comments about the Yankees being in last place reminded me of the old Senators slogan: First in war, first in peace, last in the American League.

Oh dear. Did the Senators really have that for a slogan. Must have been before my time.

I am already feeling sorry for the Mets coming up against the mighty Nats tomorrow. I hope it's not too ugly. The Nationals have been laying back to surprise the silly Mets with their first meet of the season.

Oh, it's likely to be ugly Elizabeth. We committed 5 errors in one inning against the Cubs this week, and got swept, seemingly effortlessly.

If we win one game this weekend it'll be a miracle. They are playing so poorly.

Not much else going on. It's Talia's birthday! I've been trying to get her to pop her head in here. Perhaps soon.

There's a virtual writing conference here this weekend - it was live before and will be live again, but this year it's virtual. I expect to learn a lot - it's my first one.

Coffee and a cookie please. I'll be here writing and petting the monkey (not a euphemism).
