Hm. Have a fondness for both and haven't seen either live in eons. Opera.

Play a sport or watch that sport?

The old bookshop owner had something special for Dave.

Play, if it is winter, especially. More fun participating.

Running or swimming?

Running. Me and swimming had a falling out many years ago.

King of the world or modest life in obscurity?

The old bookshop owner had something special for Dave.

Dash - Writer's Block competition entry

Modest life in obscurity. The best things in life are those shared with others, but especially family.

Cruise ship or resort?

We've been doing a lot of cruise ships but I kind prefer a resort. Can just crash somewhere and write.

Zombies or vampires?

The old bookshop owner had something special for Dave.

Experiencing or writing? Not much of a choice if experiencing, but Vampires are not as difficult to eradicate. Zombies, you're simply waiting for your turn.

Satanic horror or Sci-Fi horror?

S-F horror does more for me. Lovecraft's "The Colour Out of Space" is one of my favourite horror stories and also one of the seminal works of s-f horror (alien lifeforce that arrives on a meteor wipes out an isolated farm family).

Canoe or kayak for paddling?

The old bookshop owner had something special for Dave.

Snowmobile. Winter girl at heart. Love the snow.

National Park or State Park?

I actually think that I have been to more National than State Parks in my journeys around the US. However, provincial parks up here can be quite nice, so I imagine your state parks can be, too. Still, most of the famous ones are national parks so that.

Hike or mountain bike a trail?

The old bookshop owner had something special for Dave.

Dash - Writer's Block competition entry

Some state parks are on par with national parks; Custer State Park, South Dakota is a perfect example. On parks with Yellowstone IMHO.

Hike. Like long-distance (100+ miles), multi-day (5+) with overnight camping are the best. Takes planning but worth the effort.

Oops, Meagan didn't ask a new question. I prefer hiking. I bike but prefer road biking or a good, paved trail. I leave mountain biking to the kids (my son and his wife do mountain bike).

Fishing: Catch and release or take the fish home to eat?

The old bookshop owner had something special for Dave.

Dash - Writer's Block competition entry

Catch and release. Not into senseless cruelty or killing of animals. Not vegetarian or whatever, but to fish (or hunt) just for sport isn't me.

Go to new release movie or wait until it's available on cable or whatever?

Wait for cable/streaming/online rental. I don't find much appeal in going to theaters given the cost these days. Maybe for an Avatar-type movie that really plays better on the big screen.

Drama or comedy?

The old bookshop owner had something special for Dave.

Dash - Writer's Block competition entry

Tough choice, but would lean to comedy. Not a fan of drama; in real life or in make believe.

Beach vacation or resort vacation (like Disney World)?

Beach unless I had kids of an appropriate age (or grandkids, which is more likely at my age).

Vegas for the shows or to gamble?

The old bookshop owner had something special for Dave.

Dash - Writer's Block competition entry

Don't see the allure of Las Vegas. But if I went, it would be for a show as neither my husband or I are gambler's.

We'd both rather go to Reno and Lake Tahoe though.

Take your time on Route 66 or speed to your destination on the Interstates?

(Route 66 is on our motorcycle bucket list but the kids are too young right now .)

I would like to do Route 66 someday, I think, but I'm getting a stiff and cranky for those sorts of drives. I drove a bit of it on one of my US trips. To be frank, if I am speeding to a destination in the US other than maybe Michigan or Ohio, it's usually by plane. Driving is because I want to do the scenic route.

Team sport (e.g. soccer, hockey) or individual sport (e.g. tennis, badminton)?

The old bookshop owner had something special for Dave.

Dash - Writer's Block competition entry

Team! Winter sports especially, Hockey (Washington Capitals, 2018 Stanley Cup Champions). Do like ice skating and sking too.

Gourmet meal or more simple, down-to-earth fare?

Down-to-earth. I find gourmet stuff is often a bit overrated. Our last couple days in Paris, we actually ate at a Neapolitan style pizza joint. And in Milan, we ate at this nice little diner with homemade pastas and such.

Read news articles or read science/nature articles?

The old bookshop owner had something special for Dave.

Dash - Writer's Block competition entry

I hate news articles (or broadcasts). Specially, I hate how I get 2 minutes of news and 10 minutes of their commentary. I can think and evaluate news myself. So, science/nature article which befits my undergraduate degrees - mathematics/physics double major.

Horror or Romace genre?

Historically, I've been a horror guy. Having trouble getting into any kind of fiction these days.

Spooky, eerie horror or (as Stephen King put it) go for the gross-out?

There's a reality out there somewhere where I did physics and am now a leading astrophyicist or quantum theorist. Sadly, this is not that universe.
