We are fast approaching the 50th anniversary of the first visit by humans to a world other than the Earth. On July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 blasted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida carrying a 3-man crew (Michael Collins, Neil Armstrong, Edward "Buzz" Aldrin) . On July 20, Armstrong and Aldrin descended to the surface of the moon in the Lunar Module, making history and inspiring space geeks in my generation and generations to come.

I remember watching the moon landing at my grandparents’ house. It was just after my third birthday. My grandparents had a finished basement and that room had a color television. My siblings and I were watching the landing.

I was four and, to be honest, I don't remember much about Apollo 11. Later Apollos, yes, but not 11. Guess I was too young and not the space geek I eventually became.

On holiday with my soon-to-be in-laws (and fiancé) in Wales. We watched the landing on a tiny black and white television but it was still an awesome achievement.

I was ten and watched the landing at home on a black and white TV. I had not seen colour then and so it was simply wonderful. I remember being transfixed for hours.
