Taking a step back several decades. One of my favourite songs from the immensely talented Mark Knopfler. Here, live in 1993 with his band Dire Straits, this is Private Investigations.

There was some video of his that had me going, "This is an audition to play Bond, isn't it?" Forget which one but it was quite a while ago.
That would be 'Millennium' that I posted in the 'What are you listening to?' thread a few days ago. See also my new Advert thread for the Café Royale ad.
They are both very tongue in cheek and Robbie possibly would not make the cut. I do think, however, that his version is very reminiscent of the Sean Connery/Roger Moore era.
I have never really listened to the Foo Fighters. However, I watched their film, Studio 666, on Netflix last night.
It is an absolute B-rated gore fest, but really funny for it. Now I am listening to their Greatest Hits album and enjoying it. I don't think I will buy it, too many 'F' bombs for me, but the music is good.
Here is 'The Pretender'.
There are topics about Music, Films, and TV shows here, but have you ever stopped to consider adverts? Over the years, there have been some really good ones. Some are even better than the TV shows that are interrupted by them. Do you have a favourite? Is there one that has always stuck in your mind as being particularly memorable?
Then post it here!
I'll begin with one that I have never seen in the UK but picked up on German TV, of all places.
I have an eclectic taste in music. Even as a youngster, I was never fixated on just one type of music. The first album I bought was in 1972. It was The Singles, 1969 to 1971, by the Carpenters (Karen was my first and only crush, and she still holds that place in my heart today). In contrast, here is a track from the second album I bought in 1973 (Being at school, money was an issue, so I have more singles from that era than albums). The Album was Billion Dollar Babies by Alice Cooper.

You know, I am a big fan of Finnish metal soprano Tarja. But, um, a dark, gothic take on "Frosty the Snowman" might be a bit much, even for me. See what you think.
It doesn't work for me. It begins well but loses the sinister feel fairly quickly.
I prefer this for gothic Christmas.
