It's funny... people text me when I'm editing or writing a story. I don't really mind it, but it's a pattern I've noticed. Maybe it's because I'm always editing or writing, of course.
Mini golf, even though I probably suck at it.
What is your favourite word and why?
I'm pretty sure someone like Stephen King said something like "don't ever be a writer". I can't remember the exact quote, but it was something of that ilk.
Here's a tip from me, even though I'm not "a great": on occasion, switch your mind off, get out of your own mind, take a step back and just enjoy writing; it shines through when a creator enjoys their craft. Actually, that's pretty much good life advice.
Poor Poor Pitiful Me by Warren Zevon
Hello Operator by The White Stripes, which will be swiftly followed by Kane Wo Narashite by Bonnie Pink (Kane Wo Narashite translates to Ring a Bell, in English)
My poetry is less poetry, more random bits stuck together in a semi-poetic freeform... thingy... Whether it works, well, that's debatable. Why do I do it? Sometimes when feelings are messed up, loved up or just plain extreme, poetry is the only way to convey them. I wouldn't say it's easy, just another way of self expression, really.
Giant meaty steak, please.
What's your favourite routine activity?
I've moved from Red Rain by The White Stripes to Born This Way by Lady GaGa via the songs, Palaces of Montezuma, and Bellringer Blues by Grinderman
Hello all. No idea if this is the correct place for this, but I shall say it here anyway.
If anyone wants to enlist my services for recording their stories or poems, I'm availing myself to you.
I've already recorded some of my own, Gypsymoth's and Magnificent1rascal's stuff and really enjoyed it, hence the offering to record stuff.
If you're interested, send me a PM and I'll get back to ya.
A recording of her poem entitled "Words". No, I actually am going to do that later, no joke, if you don't mind.
RRRRAAARRR!!! Will you please use punctuation? It may be a text message, but that's no reason to not use proper punctuation and spelling, especially if you've got a fragging smartphone. Also, just shush, I'm writing. Ugh, that man annoys me sometimes!
Are cliffhangers a good idea? My last two stories, I left on a cliffhanger. The first was unintentional, the second I meant.
I'm wondering if they're such a good thing or do they leave the reader frustrated? Like most writing elements, they must be carried out properly, in order to leave the reader wanting more. So what is the perfect cliffhanger? (Apart from the infamous "who shot JR?", of course.)
I'd like to see this from both a reader's perspective and the perspective of writers.
Must stop browsing, get my phone charged up, format a hard drive and stop procrastinating.
Ehn'gha (fictional city in Eternal Darkness, one of the best, most atmospheric horror games on Nintendo Gamecube)
tabernacle (that word makes me guffaw)
Interesting article. I think I've employed a few of those techniques. I know I'm quite partial to resurrecting and recycling old characters or traits.
