Shortbread

Ingredients:

150g Butter (the colder, the better)
150g Plain flour
60g Sugar

(Note: all measurements are approximations because I tend to bake by instinct, without measuring. Works for me.)

Method:

Preheat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas Mark 5.

Beat the butter and sugar until smooth, the smoother the better.

Gradually sift add the flour until it turns to a smooth paste. You want it to turn out slightly doughy, but sticky too and smooth.

Roll out on a floured surface to about 1-1.5cm. From here you can cut it into rounds or fingers, your choice, but remember to prick the surface.

Now put in the oven for 15-25 mins, or until golden.

Put on a wire rack to cool and watch as the nomworthy goodness disappears and you get none because your family is so greedy that they don't let you get any. Maybe whip up a secret batch for yourself and stash it away.
This recipe was shown to me by my friend, whom I call Maw, because she's like a second mum to me. It's simple and great for satisfying a craving and keeps quite well in the fridge, also it get stronger, the longer it's left. Incidentally, it's the only way I can eat banana

Ingredients:

Large tub of natural or Greek yoghurt, generally, the thicker the better.
2 or 3 Bananas, depending on how strong you want it to taste. I've found that they work best when they are just on the verge of turning black. Experimentation is encouraged with this one though.
Chocolate, dark or light, your preference, but must be refrigerated so it is hard (this is the killer app!)

Method:

In a large bowl or jug, scoop the yoghurt from the pot, chop the bananas and add to the yoghurt. This is where it gets cool. Grab your hand blender and use the attachment with the blades. Give the bananas a right good mushing and get them all gooey. Now use the whisk attachment and whisk until everything is all smooth. Put in the fridge for 2-3 hours to let it thicken, or try putting it in the freezer to make ice cream (I've never tried this, but it might just work). Once it has thickened sufficiently - if you scoop it and it runs off the spoon very slowly, it's ready - spoon into ramekins or hi-ball glasses and take your chocolate from the fridge and grate some on top. Share amongst your friends and watch their smiles. Try it with different fruit, too and different chocolate. It tastes great with a mars bar grated or blended in with it. The best thing about this recipe is that you can fiddle and experiment with it and make it your own.
Here's a chance for cooks/chefs/bakers to shine! Post your favourite recipes here. As an added challenge, if you want, you could write them in the form of a poem, but only if you want. The ethos of this thread is just sharing recipes and giving tips. I shall share my recipe for a good cuppa tea later, when I'm at home and can access the file. Have fun recipe fans!
Thanks, I probably will do that sometime soon, though I don't have my own recipes to hand just yet. P'raps when I'm back on the mainframe.

I've already brought this up with admin, but thought I'd get some feedback from the general populace. I was talking to a friend and we hit upon the idea of a recipe category, we thought, seeing as there are a lot of cooks/bakers here it'd be a good idea. So what say you? Is it a good idea? If not a recipe category, how about a forum topic?
Lemon Meringue Pie

What music really makes your toes tap and your head nod without you even thinking about it or realising that you're doing it?
I write for me, mostly. It's a good way to declutter my nutter, so it helps me cope with life. I don't share everything I write because some of it is just for me. The things I do share, I think other people of a similar bent may enjoy and part of my raison d'être is to bring happiness or entertainment. Complete honesty here: I do get a kick out of people enjoying my writing, but as I chiefly write for myself, I wouldn't say it's the be all and end all, though it is nice to be acknowledged, even of it's something as simple as "I like your writing". I suppose, for me, it's quite a selfish reason, but it does boost my confidence if someone gives me positive feedback. Besides, sharing is a nice thing to do, ain't it?

I think I rambled and repeated myself a bit. Whoopsie!
Flockynockynihilipilification - to render something as useless and can also be spelled floccinaucinihilipilification, but I prefer the first spelling.
Beef, of all kinds: minced, steaks, you name it, I don't wanna be without it.

Do you own a kilt? If you do, are you a "true Scotsman"?
I've just installed it on my ancient, well loved phone, which is getting a little slow nowadays. It seems to work pretty well and is quite fast, but the audio doesn't seem to work. That's probably my phone though, it's a wee bugger at times. Kudos to y'all!
