"Where Writers Win's Ultimate List of Book Review Websites"...a pretty decent list, in spreadsheet form...

A lot of lists of review sites I've seen are not particularly up to date, like most of the links above, but this one looks pretty good...check it out my published book-writing Stories Space friends...

Well...it looks like the cover has been revealed for Twist of Fate, the anthology put together by Indies In Action to help victims of the Oklahoma tornados...

I'm proud to say that a number of my author friends contributed to this great cause, including our very own Maggie Rascal and Hulya Yilmaz...I have a feeling there are more contributors from here, but details are a bit sketchy at the moment...stay tuned to these here pages for more details as they unfold my friends...

Quote by DianaShallard

Has anyone else wrestled with this quandry? Or am I perhaps being naive and/or greedy to assume my work should be earning me something. Maybe instead I should just be happy to share it...

No, I think you're far from being greedy or naive...I think it's natural for someone who has been writing for any length of time to want to progress, and take that "next step" so to speak...and that would normally involve submitting their work for publication...

When I first started writing back in April 2009, I posted everything I did on writing sites like this one...after about a year and a half though, in September 2010, I decided to give getting published a shot...and yes, the fact that I had posted over 100 stories and poems online definitely put me at a disadvantage...

My advice would be to not post your story here on SS if you think it has a reasonable shot at getting published, and it sounds like that is one of your goals these days...

You can always post your story here on Stories Space after it comes out in a book or journal btw...usually there's a contract involved that might grant the publisher exclusive rights for maybe a year or so at most...but, after that, you can do whatever you want with it...

My poem The Squall is among the selections, and other Stories Space members are contributing as well.

Good for you Maggie, and congrats to you on both your acceptance and decision to contribute to a good cause...

Yeah, I have an idea for a poem for that antho, but not sure I'll get it done on time...been distracted by a lot of real life stuff as of late...I'm not even sure what the deadline is, but the good news is that it's one of those poems that could be used elsewhere if I don't get it in on time...

I did manage to mail out three paperback copies of my book to the Authors for Oklahoma thingy though...
With a bond that will never be broken,
Damn, this Elmers Glue is really good,
Can't seem to separate these two boards,
Just hope I never again need this wood.
I guess my days as a member of polite society are long over...some would argue that were over before they started, but no mind...

Anyway...good post Maggie...and yeah, Stephen is usually good for some sound advice...and this article is no exception...who am I to argue with Stephen anyway?
Just sort of bumping this one...note that I am now Featured Author of the Week over here, and btw...I know I mentioned it before, but there is a cover contest going on...it'll be going on all year btw...so, if you feel real generous today, you can give my cover a nice, fat, juicy 5-star vote...you have to click on the green arrow next to where it says "Image Rating" in order to vote...I know that's not immediately obvious, but such is life...

Feel free to enter your own covers btw...eBooks are welcome as well...I forget what you win...I think it's a year of free publicity or something, which could be potentially lucrative...

Yeah, got this notice earlier today...and another Badge should be forthcoming soon...

I usually write the piece first, not always though...and not sure if anyone who's read my stuff noticed, but the title is nearly always contained in a line of the story or poem...
Lois Winston posted this article from from her blog earlier today over in my LSF group...

What makes a bestseller? Why does one book take off while another equally well-written novel never gets noticed? It's the capricious nature of the publishing industry and the life authors have chosen--a topic often discussed and grumbled about when authors gather at conferences and conventions. Here's a couple of ways for published authors here to help out the tornado victims in Oklahoma...in both cases, the proceeds from the book sales are going to The Red Cross, which has established a special fund...

Here's the first...I only have a Facebook page right now, but will update here as I become aware of anything else...

Author Shelly Arkon is looking for book donations, including eBooks...I'm going to see how many copies of my own book I can stuff into a padded envelope, and mail it off tomorrow...after I sign the books, of course...

If you have any questions about this one, you can contact Shelly directly...her e-mail is: [color=darkblue]

Alternately, you can contact her through Facebook...

This event is for those who support the effort to create a charity anthology for the victims of the Oklahoma tornado, which devastated Moore, Oklahoma on May 20th. Inspired by the effort of authors and artists worldwide who created a charity anthology for the victims of Sandy Hook, we are now organizing to help support the victims in Oklahoma. "Angels Cried" is the name of the Sandy Hook charity anthology, and several hundred dollars have already been donated to help that cause.
The members of Indies In Action are currently seeking others who have poetic submissions or art which can be compiled to create a quality anthology to raise funds for the victims of this tragedy. All proceeds will be donated to the May Tornadoes Fund, managed by the United Way.
If you are interested in learning more about our previous effort, you may do so by visiting the link http://indiesinaction.blogspot.com/ . If you would like to contribute to the effort, please do so by joining the Facebook group Indies In Action at the following link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/IndiesInAction/
Be sure to indicate in this event that you are requesting authorization to join. It is an exclusive group, and we are selective about who we authorize to join. Thank you for your support, and please be sure to invite as many people as possible. I am particularly interested in hearing from people who live in Oklahoma, or who have witnessed tornado activity. This event ends on Sunday, June 2nd. At that time it is expected that we will also end submissions to the anthology. Please post if you have any questions.
To myself I cannot be untrue,
But some days I'm not so sure,
There are times I'd like to escape,
Just pack up and head out the door.
Missed this post for some reason...thanks for sharing Gypsy...

Maybe I should try my hand at intergalactic fame and fortune...
And cry for everything I lost,
Though that never seems to work,
It only leaves tear stains on my shirt,
And makes me look like a jerk.
