Anyone know a good drug that can keep me going for another 7 months academically? =P

How much money you got?

I mean, um, we don't do drugs here in the Stories Space forum...send me a PM, we'll talk a deal...

I think somebody might have changed more than one letter...uh hem...

Not going to mention any names...

Yelp...

You are correct. I think moderators feel overwhelmed seeing 12 chapters from the same author in the queue, don’t you Alan?

So, somehow you think you can fool us into thinking there's less work by just showing the number "12" instead of listing the twelve chapters...

Lol...I understand what you're saying...

Here's another contest for you NaNo people...

Another NaNo contest...for best opening line...makes me wonder how they would know if you actually bothered to write the rest of the book?

NaNoWriMo Writers Contest
http://nanowrimocontest.com/

Actually, I could probably handle writing one sentence in a month...just saying...
I was thinking about writing a story about the world ending next year...you know, in 2012...

Just not sure whether I should post it under "fiction" or "non-fiction"...

Thats a new feature, so the moderators dont get bombarded with stories for the same author. As soon as you verify one, the next one will pop up.

Say what? So, if the same author has more than one submission, it shows the number of their submissions, but only the first one is visible...

Did I understand that correctly?

Btw...are you going to be submitting any more poems in the near future? Let me know...I'll go get Yas...
Oh, this is a tough game here...

I got news for the two of you...looks like you both are losers, because I am most definitely last...

Don't make me have to lock this thread now...I am a moderator you know...

giving away trade secrets Alan?

Lol...yeah, good luck with that one...I'm sure you'll go far knowing that...
Hey Gav...this is an interesting one...

Where it says "Unverified" up on top...you know, the moderator thingy...it shows "Unverified (2)" but when I click on it, there is only one story...

What up with that? ...

This article explains how to use "lie", "lay" and "laid" correctly.

Thanks for posting this Lisa, I know I have trouble with that one...and I know I'm not the only one...

You must have read my little mind...
Really liking this no-fee poetry contest...first prize includes such tasty items as a book publishing contract and five copies of the book, radio interview and other assorted goodies...you can submit one poem, and the theme is "World Peace"...

The only winter sport i ever did was last year when i got stuck in a village pub for two days due to snow...

I'm actually quite jealous...why can't stuff like that ever happen to me?

Famous Story Published a story with over 100,000 views

*coughs* .... something that needs to be looked at ... or maybe just do away with this badge as it is very unattainable.

just saying ....

Van

Yeah, well...just nobody here would live to see it, that's all...just make sure you give clear instruction in your will that your badge is to go to your next of kin...or their next of kin, as the case may be...

A minor technicality I would say...
Looks like they accept previously published stuff as well...as long as it was not in print, or in journals...so, here on this fine site known throughout the world as Stories Space should be alright...though you may want to check with them to make sure since they mention they do check for previous publication...which is the norm, btw...

Don't try to fool anyone...just a note...

Hi Lisa,
Why don't you send a mass mailing out to all the members urging them to recruit one new member? even if only 10% did, we would have over 50 new members. WOOHOO!!!!

Wait a minute now Adele...we currently have 415 members...10% would be like 42...

Hmmm...I need to get out my calculator here...
Horse Illustrated is looking for articles about, you guessed it my friends...horses...

"A magazine directed to horse owners and riders of English and western disciplines. Espouses responsible horse ownership, from providing tips to owners on better horse care and training, to alerting horse lovers. Pays between $300 and $425 for feature articles, $50 to $200 for smaller pieces."

Who's buying? Scooter, is it your turn buddy?
There is a no-fee contest for those doing the NaNo thingy...

Submit the first chapter of your NaNoWriMo novel. We know
it probably won't be your best writing--after all you'll be busy
with an entire novel's worth of material--but the rawness is part of
the fun, and everyone will be on the same playing field.
PRIZE: $50,$25.

The cover looks great. Have you got a copy yet? I noticed the three reviews it has so far are from people who have poems in the book. Do you like the way they presented your poem?

No, I didn't get it yet...just got notice yesterday that it came out...

I would have to assume that those reviews are from people who got poems in it last year, since they do this every year...as far as I know, this year's just came out...

Ok here it is ..the bible. Reading chapters randomly depending on stories and teachings in each book. Will leave it at that

I have never had much luck reading the Bible, and I have tried a couple of times...that Old English stuff reads like a foreign language to me...

I know there are various study guides and the like...heck, there are tons of them...it is the most read book in the world I believe...I just never really had the patience I guess...maybe some day in my old age...

It's like getting into someone else's head for a little while. And I am fascinated by how people think.

A big Yes to that one...and also what Shy_Scribe said about learning about different writing styles...the only problem is that it takes me so much longer to read anything now that I started writing, especially if I'm reading something by an author I really like...it can take me an hour to read a darn short story...

And I was never really a fast reader...I was always the type that read every word anyway...just worse now...

So Mr."Socialite" are you the first here to achieve that lofty status?

No...actually I think Ms. Yasmin has me beat by a few in the friend count department...

She is truly the Society Queen of Stories Space...

Btw, if you click on where it says "All Badges" above the badge section on your page it tells you how many people have each badge and the requirements...

http://www.storiesspace.com/badges/

For instance, you'll learn that nobody here has been awarded the "Famous Story" badge for a story with 100,000 views or more yet...hard to believe, I know...
