I am missing my sandwich and drink

Ahhh, Mr. Scooter...just want to say we received your claim form regarding reimbursement for missing or damaged items as a result of the upgrade...

Just want to say, there is no way that the "estimated value" of your missing sandwich is $9859.95 USD...

I hope you're not trying to bilk this fine site out of funds by filing padded damage claim forms...I'll just pass it along to upper management and let them deal with it...
Let's see here...we have Yas saying that writing makes her sleepy, and others complaining of insomnia...hmmm, maybe there is some lesson here...
Oooops...yet another "not good" thingy...

When you click on the friends icon on the upper right, the list of friends is not in alphabetical order as it should be...

Not good Gav, not good at all...
I know this is something that will only be noticed by that elite group of highly trained individuals known here as "moderators" but the appearance of a story when logged in as a mod has changed...where the name of the person who verified the work in question used to stand out in big bold letter it is now relegated under the heading of "Story History"...

I was trying to figure out who, if anyone, had verified your poem Gav...and it took me a while to figure out it was Miss Yas...

Personally I think you must have bribed her with a big bowl of ice cream to get that one passed through...but, I could be wrong...but, I doubt it...
Quote by Sherzahd

Odd? You need to be more specific, because with Mr. Martini around, there is always something 'odd' happening......

I heard that btw, Miss Yas...there must be some other Mr. Martini around, because obviously you're not talking about me...why is your ice cream missing? Lol...

Um, getting back on track here...obviously the "Popular Tag" and "Popular Search" fields are missing on the front page...

I'll be back...I've just begun to start looking...
I'd like to note that I did get the e-mail notification that Lee had posted a new poem, btw...since I am "following" him...and I know, following Lee can only lead to no good...but, yeah...it was only till much later that I realized the poem never hit the front page...

And, um, a big round of congratulations is no doubt in order Mr. Gav...I see you did indeed make the illustrious Stories Space Top Author List...a well-deserved honor if I've ever seen one, btw...

It's amazing how stressful times like these can inspire one to write poetry...and I'm sure this will no doubt be a sign of things to come...in fact, I can hardly wait for your next masterwork...

Remind me to add you to my "Following Authors" list...
OK, I found my screen name on the author's list...and it looks good, except my average score dropped...haven't figured out yet if someone gave me a bunch of 3 votes in the last 24 hours, but I'll try to figure that out...

Also...I see that my stories are completely out of order on my page...the ones from December, 2010 seem to show as the latest...

+ The #Stories - Avg Score - #Views buttons on the Authors Listing Page no longer work.

Well you did ask and I'm only trying to help

Oh yeah...just stopping by to say the same thing...I just got on here, and that was the first thing I checked...I know that if I click on "# Stories" I should be on top with 83 and close to 16k views...

That was supposed to be my easy way to check things...but since that's not even working...jeez...

I'll be back...and nice poem Gav...
Btw Gav...we thought maybe you should have a lucky rabbits foot for good luck...

Seemed like a good idea at the time...though the rabbit apparently doesn't think so...he does not look happy at all...

If there's anyone I would want on the moderating team of a site thats about to have a major site upgrade, its YOU Alan!

Thanks Gav...I think that's a compliment anyway...

Btw...our badges will be safe, right? I mean...I really don't care if I lose my stories, or my pictures, or my friends comments, or even my friends...

But my badges will be safe...right? Just asking...

It is vital we discover any nasty bugs before we upgrade any further sites.

So, I gather that Stories Space is the Guinea Pig here? I see where we rate...

When you say "data loss"...you mean like people may lose their stories? Might be a good time to remind people to make sure they have back-up copies of anything they have posted here...I've heard a few disaster stories in my time on story sites...
Here's a contest some here might have a really good shot at...the idea is to come up with the worst opening line of a fictitious novel...and don't look at me btw...

It's not often where writing bad is a good thing...

The Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest

Where “WWW” means “Wretched Writers Welcome”

http://www.bulwer-lytton.com/

Go for it my friends...and show off that first prize trophy with pride...
Looks like this contest is back...

"Entries are being accepted for the A.Vogel Dormeasan ‘Write a Short Story for Bedtime’ competition 2011. Prizes are £500, £300, or two of £100 each. Entry is free but confined to UK residents aged more than 18 years"...Can you write a bedtime story? I don't mean a story that takes place in bed...clean up your act, my friends...smile

A lot of these contests just come around every year...and since I've been on Stories Space a year now...hard to believe, I know...will it will be in two days anyway...I'm starting to see stuff come up again, so I'll try not to start a new thread, just add to the old one...if I notice...
Oooops...C Hope Clark posted an "Addendum" newsletter with the following note...

Excuse me for interrupting your day. I've learned that since I first researched Gallant Greeting Cards, a market listed in the October 7, 2011 FundsforWriters edition, they have temporarily ceased accepting submissions due to a backlog. To replace that market, I include the following additional greeting card markets. Thanks.

Here's a greeting card company in Edison, New Jersey looking for submissions...heck, I can practically walk to this place...

Designer Greetings - Home
http://designergreetings.com/pages/jobs.html

Actually, I am about a five minute walk from Edison, NJ...maybe I'll go bug them...doesn't say what they pay for stuff, though greeting card companies generally don't pay a whole lot from what I've seen...if they take you on a staff writer it's different...

I think I had posted something in the forum somewhere before about writing for card companies, but can't remember at the moment...
A wise word of warning in C Hope Clark's latest newsletter...

"Aspen Mountain Press is having organizational issues which
will most assuredly spill into its chance of future existence.
Employees are quitting in droves, so you might hold off
pitching to this publisher. Read the details at Writer Beware:"

http://accrispin.blogspot.com/2011/09/FbzibIqebDgejIeh

You probably don't have to actually read the details...but, you get the idea...
The latest high-class, tasteful publication to feature one of my masterworks is the Muscatel Lines...I mean Muscadine Lines, my bad...they proudly feature my contest winning story "The Birthday Party" in their fine Southern journal...

Muscadine Lines: A Southern Journal; Kathy Rhodes, Editor; Online Literary Journal
http://www.asouthernjournal.com/index.htm

Btw, I stole this...I mean found out about this journal from Mr. Rumple's profile page...and you have to have some connection to the South in order to get published there...so, if you read my bio you'll see that I apparently spent time in the South...

Or was that did time in the South? Sorry, I get confused sometimes...

Sitting in my computers class. I am soooo not happy to be in here... Stupid class and lack of attention span for it. >.<

Think I may have found a real viable alternative to taking classes for you Wash Away...

I got this in my e-mail today and thought this was rather amusing..."Buy Fake College Degrees Online"...you know, you could probably work at most jobs twenty years and nobody would know the difference...

Reminder that DWB is currently looking for holiday stories for the upcoming season...Christmas 2011, Valentines 2012, Easter, etc...they're not looking for anything else at the moment...

But, they are accepting short stories up to 5k word count with those themes...
http://www.dancingwithbearpublishing.com/specialsubmissionscall.htm

I sent them my Christmas story "His Christmas Wish" I posted here last year...it's also a reminder to myself that I really need to start writing it down when I send a story off somewhere so that I don't send the same story to the same place twice...

And yes, I did do that not long ago...don't ask...
On behalf of the Stories Space Team, I would just like to personally extend a warm welcome to our newest member RantingSenior...

I saw that his mom had packed him a nice lunch when she dropped him off this morning...so, I assume he'll be staying here a while...

I just have a sneaking suspicion that this represents a new dawning in the history of the written word...but, it's just a hunch...

Welcome Lee...
