Tall - Tale (hah, that worked out well)
Good Morning! Happy Thanksgiving to the Canucks and anyone else feeling thankful this week.
I have got some Timmy's Dark Roast in the coffee pot, something many Canadians are thankful for every day. Teas are Canadian Breakfast (yes, my tea shop of choice has such a blend), and Red Rose.
Feeling gratitude for this little writer's community and the recent competition. Let's try to keep that momentum going.
Later, alligators.
And Christian heavy metal may seem like an oxymoron to those of us who grew up with the Satanic Panic nonsense, but Stryper actually dates to that era (started in 1983) and is still with us today (reunited in 1999). It's solid, old school heavy metal even if the lyrics are often about Jesus.
Isaiah 53:5 references the verse translated in the King James as "with his stripes we are healed" which is where the name "Stryper" comes from.
Some nice new tracks out today, but I'll highlight this one. Nightwish live, even virtual, is always a treat. This is from their Live at the Islander Arms virtual concert that happened in May 2021 and is now included on BluRay as part of a new edition of their last album, Human : || : Nature.
Congratulations to Writergirl and InThisMoment! It is a pleasure to be in such good company in the top three.
And congratulations again to all of the top ten. Some really good verse came out here and it shows in the ones who are on the podium.
And congratulations and thank you to all who entered. It's been a fun, and very enjoyable competition. I have very much enjoyed reading all the entries.
And now... It's party time!

So, today is supposed to be the big day. Nothing heard yet, but it is early yet (9:00AM here in Eastern Time).
Coffee is a Jamaican Blue Mountain. Teas are Red Rose and Lemon. Made some iced, too.
Weather here continues to be a bit unseasonably warm. Supposed to be a 60% probability of showers today but at the moment it is sunny outside and even radar only shows a few patchy showers and none close to me.
Writing is kind of stalled but I might just move to a completely different project for now. I know Verbs was encouraging me on the "kill the character" issue but I was aiming to make this a bit lighter in tone than the Tana stories and now it's one of my darkest pieces. And even the revised "she lives" version still isn't really what I had planned on. It still has a rather dark edge to it. So, back to the drawing board and in the meantime, I might try dashing off something fluffy and romantic for fun. Assuming I don't end it with the main character keeling over dead because his head spontaneously combusted or something. 😢
These five publications cover a variety of genres including horror, fantasy, literary non-fiction, flash, and more. I already have one of them on my list of markets (Nightmare).
