Can't swim worth beans so probably not, but I would love to from the standpoint of loving aquatic life.

WYE do a multi-day back country hike?

This piece really hits all the right buttons for me. Tears happened as I listened for the first time. Composer (and conductor of this performance) is Christopher Tin. Choral group is the wonderful British octet Voces8. Lyrics are a setting of an Emily Dickinson poem.

Ugh. We had a couple light frosts already. Flurries in the forecast starting tomorrow night through to Thursday. Just a chance and we might get showers instead but ... yeah, definitely feeling more and more like winter is coming (and not in a cool, dramatic Game of Thrones kind of way; just a dull, wet, cold kind of way).

What do respirologists drink? Cough-ee.

dodges rotten tomatoes

Anyhow, our morning brew is hot and ready. It's an Ethiopian from Fire Roasted Coffee here in London, Ontario. Teas du jour are Duke of Earl (Earl Grey with Vanilla) and Irish Breakfast, also from a local shop. Hot chocolate and marshmallows are on standby.

Later, alligators.

And for comparison, here's Epica themselves with the voice of the also quite wonderful Simone Simons belting it out. She is speaking Dutch, her native language, in the intro since this is from the Pinkpop festival in Landgraaf, Netherlands.

And, yes, that is the same pianist, back when he still had hair.

More Marcela, here covering a song by the Dutch symphonic metal band Epica. The pianist is Epica's keyboard player, who was available since she was in the studio recording backing vocals for an Epica track. She really goes all over her vocal range on this one.

Mexican by birth and upbringing but based in the Netherlands for many years, Marcela Bovio is an amazing singer. I have heard her do everything from baroque arias to power metal, even death metal growls, all with equal skill and energy. She has gone from basically unknown to me to one of my top five or so singers in just a few months. This is Marcela's latest, from an upcoming EP.

Is it just me or are there more King adaptions than ever before? I'm not complaining.

It feels like it, eh. And Joe Hill (pseudonym for King's eldest son) is getting a lot out,.too. Horns, NOS4A2, and Locke & Key have all been adapted over the past decade or so. Busy family.

Never been a big fan of figs, really, but homemade fig Newton's are something I might try. Nice to hear your son is coming for Thanksgiving, Gil.

Good morning!! There is some nice dark roast Costa Rican coffee ready. Teas are Red Rose and (appropriately) Sunday Tea. Hot chocolate, with or without marshmallows, is available.

Flailing with my writing right now. Might do a poem or flash or something because my ideas on new longer pieces are so fluid, I keep stalling.

wipes sweat off brow

Fifteen cases of mini-marshmallows stowed. Hot chocolate mix replenished. We are ready for winter.

Coffee pot is full and steaming. Teapots of Earl Grey and English Breakfast are brewed. Hot chocolate and marshmallows are now available.

Good morning!

I am in an all day meeting. Upside? The venue serves a killer squash soup. Downside? It's an all day meeting.

Yes, that's a metal cover of a song by The Weeknd. With a fiddler. And I ❤️ it.😎

I spent my whole f-ing afternoon in meetings. And I have a full day corporate event tomorrow. When the (bleep) am I actually supposed to do work?

Fried for taste, but Roast is probably healthier.

KFC or Popeye's?

Buddha's Blend tea (blend of white tea, jasmine green tea, and hibiscus)

I'm enjoying the fall weather; it makes my mood much brighter.

Yeah, it's been a fairly nice Fall here, too. A bit of frost but mostly sunny and a bit on the warm side.

Good morning, all!

There's some nice fresh Jamaican Blue Mountain in the coffeepot. Teas du jour are Red Rose and Black Currant. Hot chocolate mix is now available but the mini marshmallows are leftovers from last season so you might want to let the soak a bit. 😕

Fresh mini marshmallows are coming in by end of week. I've got space arranged for them out back. If you're here when they arrive, I've labelled the shelves.

I didn't used to like pumpkin spice anything, but I've gradually come around to it for cookies and cuppycakes

Yeah, I'm fine with it in baked goods. After all, it originated in pies, right? It's the beverages that bother me.

The endless thrum of my office's stupid bloody HVAC. Let's freeze him to death, then when there's icicles on his nose, roast him alive! Yay!😨

But bribe him with cookies!

Assuming Jeff doesn't eat them all first. 😋

oh Ape its time to order MARSHMALLOWS!!!

I'll call my guy. Price per truckload has probably gone up again.

grabs a pumpkin spice and a pecan divine

How's things? Started a new story today. It's a completely new take on a sequel to the Chronicles of Tana. This version starts earlier, with Tana's daughter still a teenager and studying to succeed her mother as village healer, and has Tana in a more prominent role, at least in the first story. That would set up her becoming a priestess and the events of what I have already written.

While there were many better movies from 1989, this is a favourite poster

Meh, wasn't as good as the original but not terrible as sequels go.

Hi - never been in here before so I’ll have a seat a while. Not a coffee or tea fan, but show me hot chocolate and I’ll bite your hand off. With whipped cream of course, and no, I repeat no, marshmallows.

is it cool to play music in here, or is it a sssussshhhh, be quiet sort of coffee house, where you can only whisper to people on your table…🙃

Hey, welcome. Yep, there's hot chocolate. Marshmallows are available but optional (and Sara is always happy to have more for her.😊).

And music is quite welcome. We even have open mike nights (well, open to anyone other than me, whose singing can scare grown men and make dogs howl).

I think they all are for a while after they start walking. And some stay that way (father of a skier and mountain biker here).
