There should be one more, but for some reason my entry attempts are not going ahead, and I'm even being asked to verify my pen-name. Something funny somewhere, since I submitted a story just a fortnight ago without this palaver! I wouldn't care they must know that it cannot be a threat to any of the current excellent entries!

Maybe message Molly to see if she can figure out what's up?

Coffee steaming in the pot

Tea is also brewed and hot

In the fridge the iced tea waits

For when the temp gets us irate.

(yes, that last line is pitiful but I used up my poetic muse on my entry)

Good morning. Sorry I'm late but it is a workday. The comp is looking nice right now. 11 entries. Hope to see more soon.

Back to trying to write stories again. Not sure why I am flailing. I've got lots of ideas jotted down in my OneNote notebook but turning them into actual prose, versus a bunch of bullet points, is proving challenging.

Vacation looms for this ape. A couple weeks off work with a driving tour to some parts of my country I have not been to before as part of it. So I'll be scarce for a couple weeks at the end of the month and into the start of October. Still around for another week, though.

11! 11 beautiful poems! Mwahahahaha!

(Lightning and thunder)

Dare I hope to see us make 20?

I am sure some mod can just grin and ... 😎 ... bear it (yeah, you saw that one coming from a mile away, eh)

I'm currently waiting for my new epi-pens to arrive so that I can go pick up my new vials of serum. I paid for the damn things, but my current epi-pens are expired. So, the ENT won't let me have the vials until I have an unexpired one in my hand and the company that sends my Auvi-Q is behind in sending my new pens. It's annoying because these pens were ordered nearly 3 weeks ago. They should have arrived in plenty of time.

God, and we are complaining about how long it takes some stuff to arrive. At least what we are waiting for isn't potentially life-saving, just annoying to not have. Hope they show soon.

Just finished The Hobbit trilogy. I'd never seen them before. I really enjoyed them but couldn't help feeling that some of the scenes were specifically designed to promote a computer game. Now I have to watch The Lord of the Rings.

I'm kind of boycotting The Hobbit trilogy. There is absolutely no way on Earth that book should have been made as a trilogy. It would have been perfect as a single 2-3 hour movie, maybe a duology at most. There's an animated version by Rankin-Bass from the seventies that captures the book perfectly, not scene by scene (it actually cut a lot for length) but in spirit.

Here's hoping my entry into the comp is approved.

Woo hoo! More poetry!

EDIT: Two more, actually. Yours is up and so is one from Fluttered.

Currently enjoying Austrian-based symphonic metal band Visions of Atlantis. A bit lighter and more fun than Nightwish (who were definitely an influence on VoA) but still solid musically, too.

Oh, it's awful. I still liked it though. So weird and bad I couldn't look away.

I find over-the-top, bad disaster flicks entertaining but definitely ironically. The only one of Emmerich and Devlin's flicks I would actually call "good" is Independence Day and even that is because it seems to know how goofy it is and revels in it. Just look at Brent Spiner's performance and tell me he was taking it at all seriously.

Never found Drew especially adorable. Funny as hell, but more like a wise-cracking uncle than adorable. But I'm not you, eh. 😊

Coffee is brewed,

And there's pots of tea,

To perk up the day,

For me and thee.

Still lots of time to work on those poems, folks. Six in already and we want company!! 😋

starts trying to find his access point so I can steal Internet

Yeah, it's a bit of a pain when you've already written the poem in another program (I generally just write then directly in my writer's notebook in OneNote) and are just pasting it in rather than writing it in the editor, but it does the job.

I had the dream from hell last night. Just after two, I dreamt very vividly that someone, or more likely something (it was indistinct but felt monstrous), stormed into the room and attacked me. I awoke in a panic and took nearly two hours to calm enough to go back to sleep. Was still a bit jittery when I awoke this morning. Better now but I missed two hours of sleep, which has repercussions of its own. If I was Stephen King or H. P. Lovecraft, there would probably be a story coming out of this but it's too soon and too intense for me to try that right now.

My poem is now in draft here, meaning it will go up today, most likely. Not necessarily what I would have written given more inspiration, but my muse seems to have taken off for a late summer vacay. Need to have a word with her about that.

Coffee is on and teas are Irish Breakfast and Lemon. Hope you don't mind that I steeped them a bit strong. Need the caffeine (see above).

Later, alligators.

FYI, I always say this, but comps are a good opportunity to get the word out about the site. I have tweeted about this one, posted about it on the site I run (I have an ongoing thread where I muse and update about my writing), and posted it on another site I am on where there are some aspiring poets (and one even said he might do it). That's about it as to where I can appropriately promo the comp. There's a couple other sites I am on regularly but don't promo my writing on.

(oh, and I did post about it on <redacted> since we have some folks there who are on here but don't come by often)

Where are all of the writers? I'm not seeing any poems for this competition. Am I missing something?

Well, there's yours and Ophelia's. Mine should come soon. I've heard a few others say they are coming along. I've put a bug out over there so we may get some coming over. It hasn't been up long (a week tomorrow) so give it some time.

Mets are back in first place

Robot voice: Does ... Not ... Compute.😜

Yeah I don't follow baseball but I know they had a bit of bad rap for a while.

Unfortunately, most of them involve rubbing mud and spit on the affected body part

Pot full of coffee

To wake you up,

Another of tea,

For those who like that.

Time to get going

In this brand-new week

May you find whatever joy you seek.

Yes. My new gimmick. I'll write my Inspirations intros in verse this week in honour of the comp. And, by the way, there's two entries so get in there with your likes and comments. See the comp thread or comp page for the list

This mention of poetry was like evening moths drawn to a flicking candle Molly. And what Dreamcatcher (Larry) is the first to enter!!

Actually, Ophelia's came first but whatever. We've got two poems up is what matters. And Dreamcatcher is back.

I have one that might be ready, but I am a bit unsure about it and took a stab at a new one yesterday. Should have something up this week in any case.

I have a name stuck in my head that I want to use for a character. I have tried sticking it into a number of stories, both for here and there, and nothing seems to fit. But I keep wanting to have this character. She's been a college student, a high school student, a businesswoman, a home care nurse. But none of the stories seemed to have legs. So now I am left with trying to figure out who she is and what is her story. Grrrrr.

But I do have a poem finished. Not sure if it is "the one" yet, but it came out better than I expected. Still toying with another idea.

Coffee is in the pot and there are Red Rose and Earl Grey in the teapots. Iced tea is refreshed.

It's cooler today but humid with a lingering, but small, risk of showers. Overnight and tomorrow is when the rain is supposed to happen in earnest.
