Vice - Rice
Ping's winning story in last fall's "Spooky Tales" competition falls pretty squarely into what those of us who read and write on the dark side call "body horror." Here is a nice piece on the subject from fantasy writer Cassandra Khaw including a couple recommendations. They have gone there a few times in their own writing. And if talking about body horror squicks you out, there's a lovely cat pic at the end for relief (one of Cassandra's kitties).

too hot for hot chocolate at the moment.
Not here. Went for a nice long walk, but kept my coat on the whole time. Definitely chilly. Probably a few weeks yet before we're into cold pop weather unless we get an early break.
Taking a couple lemon softies with an evening herbal tea.

And what's with Elizabeth with all the cartoons and funny memes? She's suddenly turning into our resident comedian.I have remembered why I don't post much. I have already had one of the pictures I posted of you, taken off as forbidden. Makes me jumpy. Better to just watch and read.
Huh? An ape picture got taken down? Did they give an explanation?

Ape thanks for the Nathan Fillion picture
That Fillion gif is so perfect so many situations. Now I need to actually watch him in something.😋
And it's a Saturday. Sunny but a bit chilly in this neck of the woods. At least it is above 0C and there's no precipitation in the forecast for at least a day.
The coffee pot is full of some dark roast Costa Rican. Teas are Keenum and Earl Grey. Hot water is ready for hot chocolate and other fine teas. Soda and marshmallow supplies are holding out nicely, thanks to friendly Mr. DeliveryGuy.
I will make some fine coffee to go with those cookies. Jamaica Blue Mountain is one of the best they say (I know nothing being a tea drinker). Scottish Breakfast and Earl Grey in the teapots with plenty of hot water ready for other teas, hot chocolate, etc.
Two maple walnut cookies for me, to go with a big steaming mug of Scottish Breakfast.☕️

Is this the same rut I'm trapped in? Although I think mine will be deeper-for once, there's not a clear idea in my head.
I keep bashing stuff out, but none of it seems to stick so I end up deleting or archiving and moving on to something else. It doesn't help that I really want to start on part 3 of Tana's story but I am still not sure exactly how that plays out.
Coffee is brewing and there's Red Rose and Russian Caravan in the teapots. Hot water is ready and I've restocked hot chocolate, marshmallows, and the tea chest.
Later, alligators.
