A bit late with the coffee and tea today. Back at work and had medical blood work to do. The hot, caffeinated drinks are now on.

We made a jambalaya, so kind of Southern as well (though we have our spin on it).

I think Coming Out Day is celebrated elsewhere based on the tweets I've seen about it, but definitely worthy of celebration.

Of course, here in Canada it is Thanksgiving Day, where we celebrate the harvest and the CFL, not necessarily in that order.

Not sure. I've always had bacon in a BLT or a club and those usually have mayo or similar if they have a sauce at all.

Beer or wine?

Edenbridge is an Austrian symphonic metal band that has refused to sign with the big commercial labels and choose to record and promote their own work. Their singer is Sabine Edelsbacher.

Nice. And yet another strong female lead. Reminds me a bit of The Dark Element (Anette's Olzon's last band).

I have become quite fond of Brazilian alto Violet Orlandi. Her take on Chris Isaak's Wicked Game, a favorite of mine from a while back, is quite different from the original but quite good in its own right.

Good afternoon. Kettle is on. I'm making some green tea. Probably too late to put the coffee on but I'll do a half pot in case someone needs a late day fix.

Trimmed the willow by the deck today and then did some general cleanup in the yard.

I am considering submitting to one of their calls. There is an ongoing one called "Short Reads" for "dark stories of any genre" of 5000+ words. I have a mostly finished story of about 6500 words that might fit. Just debating if it is dark enough since it does lighten up a bit at the end (in the current version, I have an alternate version where it lightens up a lot).

Lissie is a better singer, so I guess her.πŸ˜‹

Rain or Snow?

Metallica Blacklist takes the 12 tracks on the band's classic "Black Album" (now 30 years old) and gives 50+ artists a crack at covering them. Proceeds are going to charity, including Metallica's own foundation. The artists range from the unexpected (Miley Cyrus doing a surprisingly good rendition of "Nothing Else Matters") to bands who are very much what you would expect on a Metallica tribute. E.g. this one, one of my favorite Metallica songs, from Swedish band Ghost.

Jazz, but could go either on the right night.

Big band or small ensemble (trio, quartet)?

About my steamy tryst with ... 😳 ... oh, about your new interest. Sorry. Carry on. Forget I said anything.😊

Anyone else for an afternoon tea?

Beach front. Waves are a much nicer sound to sleep to than traffic.

Concert in an arena or in an intimate club?

Cycle, I'm a terrible swimmer (sadly, with the weather so far today, it will be my stationary bike)

WYR swim in a pool or swim in the sea?

Unfortunately, it has it covered with a perpetual game of "insult the person above you"

Coffee is on, kettle is boiling.

Was looking not too bad here earlier but now the clouds have moved in.

Changed the ending of my fantasy story again and I think this one might stick. It is closer to what I think it should be but I did keep the previous draft just in case I change my mind again.

David Farland (pen name for Dave Wolverton and he has published under both names), a writer and writing teacher, posted this on his Tumblr. It is basically just lists of questions for each aspect of the story that you can use in looking at how your story might play to a judge or other audience. Still going through it and digesting it, but thought it might be of interest with a comp underway here. And it might be a helpful tool when you're working through a story or story idea in general. Thoughts welcome.

I AM reading through the comp entries and some other stories that have caught my eye.

Thanks Ape I got the Muppets show theme stuck in my head .

Hey, it fits with the cookie jars. Well, sort of. They are all Sesame Street muppets. But they all know Kermit. πŸ˜‹

Who wants bacon lol I have pancakes as well ..the kettle is on. Coffee is ..sort of OK, I guess I can make it.

I am partial to sausages with my pancakes, but pancakes are good any way, really.

Good afternoon. Got in a walk, though the weather is iffy. Even got sprinkled on a bit as I turned the final corner to come home.

Unfortunately, no one brought any games to play, not even a deck of cards

It's time to put on coffee

It's time to make some tea

Let's start the weekend party

In a cafe where all is free...

(sung, roughly, to the tune of the Muppet Show theme)

Good morning. Grey day in my neck of the woods but I have seen worse.
