A bit late with the coffee and tea today. Back at work and had medical blood work to do. The hot, caffeinated drinks are now on.
Quote by AnnaMayZingNice. And yet another strong female lead. Reminds me a bit of The Dark Element (Anette's Olzon's last band).Edenbridge is an Austrian symphonic metal band that has refused to sign with the big commercial labels and choose to record and promote their own work. Their singer is Sabine Edelsbacher.
I have become quite fond of Brazilian alto Violet Orlandi. Her take on Chris Isaak's Wicked Game, a favorite of mine from a while back, is quite different from the original but quite good in its own right.
I am considering submitting to one of their calls. There is an ongoing one called "Short Reads" for "dark stories of any genre" of 5000+ words. I have a mostly finished story of about 6500 words that might fit. Just debating if it is dark enough since it does lighten up a bit at the end (in the current version, I have an alternate version where it lightens up a lot).
Metallica Blacklist takes the 12 tracks on the band's classic "Black Album" (now 30 years old) and gives 50+ artists a crack at covering them. Proceeds are going to charity, including Metallica's own foundation. The artists range from the unexpected (Miley Cyrus doing a surprisingly good rendition of "Nothing Else Matters") to bands who are very much what you would expect on a Metallica tribute. E.g. this one, one of my favorite Metallica songs, from Swedish band Ghost.
Coffee is on, kettle is boiling.
Was looking not too bad here earlier but now the clouds have moved in.
Changed the ending of my fantasy story again and I think this one might stick. It is closer to what I think it should be but I did keep the previous draft just in case I change my mind again.
David Farland (pen name for Dave Wolverton and he has published under both names), a writer and writing teacher, posted this on his Tumblr. It is basically just lists of questions for each aspect of the story that you can use in looking at how your story might play to a judge or other audience. Still going through it and digesting it, but thought it might be of interest with a comp underway here. And it might be a helpful tool when you're working through a story or story idea in general. Thoughts welcome.

Good afternoon. Got in a walk, though the weather is iffy. Even got sprinkled on a bit as I turned the final corner to come home.
