Sorry to hear about your computer woes, gill. Hope your son gets it sorted out for you. I'm the geek in our household (20+ years working in IT) so computer problems tend to land on my plate. My son is more than capable of dealing with stuff, too, but he's too far away now to be much help.
Furnace is now on, though not running much yet. Got some yard work done including, I hope, the final mow of 2019. Definitely Fall though not a lot of leaf action around here, yet.
Time to switch to herbal tea, I guess.
High street coffee shop, because i don't think any department stores in my part of Canada have a restaurant or cafeteria any more (I'm assuming the McDs in Walmarts don't count)

Survived summer's brief (hopefully) last hurrah. Cool and wet today.
Still wrestling with my moon challenge ideas. I have about three different stories rattling around in my imagination, none of which really goes anywhere as of yet. It's all beginnings with no endings. I know it will likely involve the "dark" side of the Moon in some way and that's about it.

My hometown survived a massive student party this past weekend (long story which I will tell if you're interested). Fewer arrests and first responder calls than last year in spite of a larger crowd. Only cost us CAD$300,000 to police it *groans and looks at property tax bill*

Good morning and Happy New Week! New story is finished but I got hung up on, of all things, the one-liner. First time I've ever got into a tussle over that. I'm going to start on a Moon Challenge story this week.
Had a nice visit with some relatives from my wife's side that I haven't seen in a long time (wife is Chinese so most of her family is far, far away) on the weekend. Son reports doing well getting interviews for his next co-op/internship job. All seems well at the moment, IOW.
I have an idea and it will definitely make to 1500 words. Unfortunately, my brain is distracted right now but I hope to get started on it this week.

Looking like it will be a bit cool and wet this weekend here. Which is fine, I wasn't going to be outside much. Cleaning, having a visit from one of my wife's myriad aunts (her father was the eldest of eight siblings), and hopefully finishing my story. Finally got an ending on it that I am happy with, at least. It's amazing how much time one can spend wordsmithing a 2000-ish word short story. God help me if I ever do write a novel.SUIHs4nCCHxF2q45

). We have a couple conservation areas but they aren't that big. Even the closest provincial park is rather small and known mainly for its beach and sand dunes (it's on the shore of Lake Huron) rather than its trails. Now Ottawa, where my son lives, has Gatineau Park which is a massive conservation area loaded with lakes and trails. He goes over there to mountain bike and we've been in there hiking with him a few times.
