Ah, Chinglish. Being married to someone from that country, I fully understand why they mangle English the way they do. The languages are just that different and they are applying Chinese habits to English. Still, you'd think a company selling stuff in the West could hire someone, even a well-educated Chinese person who was fluent in English, to review and fix stuff.

Didn't I see that as a gag in a comedy once (a car door not staying shut)? And they say movies are unrealistic.I don't think people under a certain age even know what 3 on the tree is. Everything is on the floor and has at least 5 gears nowadays (or don't have discreet gears as CVTs become more common).

I'd like to but I don't really have any time-related stories in my current head-list of things to write. We'll see what comes up, though. I'm working on another writing project at the moment anyway so maybe by the time it's done.

Wife is going to a retirement party for the guy who heads IT in her university faculty (she's a prof). He's been doing that gig for over thirty years now. I know because he was in that role when I went to the school 30 years ago this fall. I even went to his Hallowe'en bash.

Japanese green tea combined with roasted brown rice.
My wife likes that type of tea. I'm not over fond of it myself. Love sencha on its own but the roasted rice doesn't click with me.

That blend is still around. I think my local tea shop sells it (owner is English). Had it once but it's not quite my speed. Other than some Indian chais, I'm not crazy about spice teas.

Good morning, SS world! Just dropping by for a cuppa. Slept better last night so in a bit of a better mood. We had snow again this morning but, once again, it will be gone by end of day. Still too warm for it to last. My garage isn't going to be able to switch my tires for another week, so that's a good thing.

I have a story underway but not for here. And it may fizzle out. Also plotting out the next adventure of the characters from Night of the Wind and that's what I'll write next (or maybe in parallel).

As a kid, my dream career would have been in sciences. Paleontology, astronomy, or physics to be precise. Then I found out you needed to be good at math especially for the latter two.
Fortunately I had a passion for ancient history as well and did my degree in Classics thinking I might do archaeology or something, but stopped after undergrad and did Library Science instead. Just got tired of school and decided I wanted a marketable degree so I could get out for a while. Not necessarily my dream career but I loved books and libraries so it fit.
Now, if I was to drop everything and start a new career, it would be writing. I likely have enough savings to keep me afloat even if I don't make decent bucks at it and I have always loved doing it, even when I wasn't thinking of it as a career option.

I generally am quite pleased with it at the time I post it. However, I am hideously self-critical and tend to tear my old stories to shreds when I re-read them. Doesn't mean I don't like them. More like I wish I had spent more time obsessing over them. If I did that, though, I wouldn't have close to 50 stories between the two sites I am on.
