Just in from raking. I hate deciduous trees. And I want my teenager back. Didn't rake all that much but the bags were heavy as hell. Lucky my back is still intact.

Never seen Earl made with Darjeeling before. Usually it's Ceylonese black. Neat. Both my tea shops use organic in their Earl Greys so that's nothing special. Actually, I just got back from David's Tea with the following haul:
Cream of Earl Grey (mentioned above)
Blueberry Jam (black tea with blueberries and black currants)
David's Breakfast Blend (just a nice blend of black teas from India and Ceylon)

Actually, I have a couple favorite variants.
Earl Grey Supreme, which I buy from a locally owned shop called Tea Haus, uses more bergamot than usual for a stronger citrus flavour
Cream of Earl Grey from David's Tea, a chain that covers most of Canada and some US areas, is Earl Grey with vanilla.
However, bedtime draws near so I need something caffeine free. Lemon ginger herbal will go down nicely.

There's been a couple swings at the Time Machine since the George Pal one starring Taylor. Most recent was 2002 starring Guy Pearce but it wasn't especially faithful to the novel. Still, a good adaptation with modern fx would be welcome.
Flash Gordon. Not that the campy and silly but entertaining 1980 version doesn't have its merits, but a good, straight version would be welcome.

Was puzzling over that myself. Where I come from "Earl Grey" just means Ceylonese black tea with oil of bergamot. The tea stores I frequent often add additional flavourings to create variations, but that's the basic Earl.
'Tis now late afternoon, so a nice green will fill my cup going forward.

Not familiar with that one. The IMDB description mentions "menaced by Indians and Tories" so I worry about how to be more culturally sensitive in the handling of indigenous people and the British instead of making them the "menace". Something less black and white.

There's a lot of complaining about the number of remakes and reboots coming out of the film and TV industries these days. Some are interesting new takes on the original premise, some seem to have little to do with the original premise, some are just cash grabs that rehash the original premise. It's fairly easy to find people complaining that this or that remake should not have happened or should not happen.
Still, there always seems to be a few properties around that didn't get it right the first time or that can be reworked to fit a new era (e.g. A Star is Born, which has been remade 4 times in 4 different eras).

Hey, I could make this list easily. If I retired. And committed all my time to writing. And stopped perfectionistically (apparently that's not a real word per spellchecker) agonizing over little non-issues in my writing, turning a 1000 word story into a month-long project

Much quieter today, thank you. Wrestling with various writing ideas dancing in my brain. I have a sequel to "Night of the Wind", another story that has been bouncing around my brain for eons and never made it out (which would probably go here, it's basically a contemporary college romance with mystery or maybe urban fantasy elements), and a comp entry for another site I'm on.

As a kid, I loved the Jack Webb shows that were purportedly "based on real life". Things like Adam-12 (police) and Emergency (fireman-paramedics). They were basically just recruiting videos for the first responder services in the end. Not sure how they'd hold up if I watched them again today.
