About

I am a weak individual who was bullied into joining this site. You know who you are; I think i do now! I have been lured to the light side in the hope that my sullied soul can be saved by SS. I can't at the moment see myself as writing anything, but we'll see. I'll try to be honest, not easy as it goes against my career, and hopefully constructive. I have sensitive thick skin, so kick back if you think you need to - i may bruise easily but hey they make nice patterns and cheaper than tatoos and I can spell bruises confidently! And sorry, i'll find a better pic later, but lets currently pretend i was innocent once.

Interests
music, politics, the real world, hiding from it, getting old

Favorite Books
for consistency i ought to repeat those of the dark side - Devil on the Cross, Dice Man, The Fallen, Ginger Geezer, The boy looked at Johnny. That's still a lazy list and i'll return and populate it. Ah another key book - the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists

Favorite Authors
Oh look, part of the honest kick is that i don't read enough, and at times at all. I can look back and say Sartre and Camus and Orwell when i was young and impressional, then a dabbler in virago reprints, nowadays I find myself trying to get my head round the wealth of african novels.

Favorite Movies
Bad Timing, Apocalypse Now, La Bete, Last Tango in Paris, 24 hour Party People (1st half), Touch of Evil, Kane obviously, La Nuit American, Delicatessen and Blue Collar should be in there somewhere as well, oh and Cinema Paradiso, and sod it, wots wrong with TV - Decalogue, Wallander, Boys From the Black Stuff, and Paris, episode 6, Dead Men Don't Kill - someone find this please, probably best 48 mins of american tv ever! Now there's a claim!

Favorite Music
Too much to list, to little to recognise probably - key influences in no particular order, Robert Wyatt, The Fall, Jonathan Richman, Velvet Underground (those two just go together so easily), Lee Perry, The Congos, Joe Turner, The Specials, Joy Divison, John Lee Hooker, Ali Farke Toure, Elvis Costello, The Raincoats, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Remmy Ongala, The Things (one single geniuses), James Brown, Lyle Lovett, Richard Thompson, Dr Feelgood, and the Sex Pistols. Beneath that is a ton of world, reggae, punk, garage, doowop, rockabilly, r&b, soul, pop and other stuf that all makes it a better or worse place depending on what mood you want! Er yeah, maybe it is a music site that i really want!
