As always (well, nearly always), the snowstorm was not as fierce as predicted. We did get several inches, but no blowy blizzard craziness.
Fire is on, snow is blanketing the ground, and I was able to make my doc appointment a virtual one, so all is calm. It's a day to put on the headphones and disappear into writing for a few hours.

To expand on my ALL CAPS review of Dune 2, it’s been ages since I read the books, but he certainly seemed faithful to the vibe and the storyline. I thought the first Dune was a little slow and ponderous, though I really liked the world building. I thought it ended really abruptly too. It all pays off in Dune 2, where knowledge of that world is essential to the action and plot turns. I bet it works well to see them back to back.
I highly recommend seeing this on as large a screen as possible. Great movie. And oh, those worms!
Massive storm hit the area. Starts in about 3 hours, but the real thing isn’t until tomorrow. I have a cardio appointment. Oh joy!

I went back and finished Poor Things (Talia didn’t) and I ended up liking it. It get a lot better once she learns to talk. After that it reminded me less of Frankenstein and more of Candide. The very end with the goat was kinda dumb, but I liked it.

Still struggling with daylight savings time. Woke up late. We are about to enter a busy phase, a concert in Denver and the drive to Oklahoma for the eclipse. I guess that’s not that busy. It’s busy for us retired folks.

We had a rainy day today, and tomorrow will be windy. I love windy days. It was a good day to stay in and watch a movie. I watched Poor Things, and I am still not sure how I feel about it. It was different, and I can see why Emma Stone was nominated for an Academy Award.

We couldn’t finish Poor Things. I liked it better than Talia, but it got a little long. Emma Stone is very good in it.

I finished watching the new True Detective. It was okay, but Jodie Foster annoyed me in this series.
I rewatched the first season, and although disturbing, it was riveting. Mathew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson were both excellent. Now, I need to watch seasons two and three.
It started out so strong too! Jodie did get a little annoying. Season one was so good.

My oldest son and his wife saw Dune 2 this past weekend. They loved it and saw it in IMAX to enhance the experience. I haven't been to the movies lately. I blame the pandemic for not wanting to go out much. There is something very cozy and comfortable about being in your home watching a movie. I wouldn't say I like the price of tickets too.

If anything can get you out of the house, it Dune 2. Really good! I enjoyed Dune 1, but it was a little slow and portentous, and I was worried Dune 2 would be too. But it’s action packed and exciting and the world building is mind-bending.
In other news, I sold the first chapter of the book to a magazine! Yay! Now to sell the actual book….

Another neuro test today. Lots of getting poked with needles and shooting electrical impulses into my muscles. Fun! Actually, the last time, it was kind of interesting, and less scary than it sounds.

Gorgeous day today, though the snow is coming. But today should be fine. I should finish the Canada trip memoir - at 12,000 words it's quite the opus.
First review of Dune 2 came out and it's supposed to be really good. Now with more SANDWORMS! I am so psyched.

Well, in the first inning of the first televised Spring training game, the Dodgers scored 8 runs, and won 14-1. They're gonna be a juggernaut. Not a lot of parity in baseball these days. Sorry Red.
Sunny and in the low 50s today, so I'll get a walk in. Talia still has some work details to sweep up. I get to work on the Canada travelogue today though, which is great fun. I'm almost done!
