Last day of my daughter's trip, and the weather has FINALLY cleared up. After they got a motel my daughter asked, "Do you want me to tell you the truth about how bad the roads are?" It's the kind of question that lets you know the answer before you've heard it. And the answer: the roads were TERRIBLE yesterday.

Back at work on the Western. We'll see if I remember the vibe I had going.

Coffee and tea, and cookies for thee! Stop by for a cup!

I’m watching the little car icon cross the US on a location app as my daughter moves to the East Coast. It’s nerve wracking, if exciting. They got caught in a blizzard in NE Colorado and I found them the last room in a motel in a little tiny town. They are making good time today.

I’m doing a final edit on the WIP before it goes to a developmental editor next week. Also nerve wracking. Though I do think I like the book.

Coffee is a-coffing, Kitty Zoomies tea is steeping, and there are some delish cookies in the tin.

Enjoy the end of the year everyone!

Thanks for the cookies Sara! I'll have one with a cup of that Las Chicas.

My daughter and her family are moving to Maryland, driving and a pulling a small trailer, just as a blizzard settles in between where they are are where they have to go. Send them prayers and wish them safe travels - it's gonna be a long 3 days watching the little car icon move across the map of the US on Life360.

Had an excellent Christmas. I hope it treated everyone well in here as well.

I'll have some Christmas Blend and a candy cane, Ape.

That snowstorm never materialized, but it's cold and windy out, and the fire is going, so we'll not go anywhere. I don't fully embrace Christmas, but I do enjoy it. Home and hearth, family and friends, love and loss and hope, all rolled into one crazy ball. If you find Christmas difficult, be kind to yourself today. Let it be just another day. If you embrace Christmas, I hope it brings you joy.

Me, I'm somewhere in the middle, as usual. Merry Christmas, Stories Space family!

Anna, I always told my kids that Santa was a quantum soul, in all houses simultaneously, a cloud of possibilities that only collapses when someone wakes up and sees him (like Cindy Lou Who) (who is no more than two).

Getting a tad of the Christmas spirit, I guess. Writing a going full steam - I wrote an entire chapter yesterday, and should pin down a second one today. It feels really good.

And I am way behind on wrapping presents. I am really bad at wrapping presents, but I enjoy doing it. Relaxing and mindful.

Tea is tea-ing, coffee is coff-ing, cookies are waiting to be eaten. Happy holidays! Enjoy!

Ooh, tumbleweeds….

Costco is a-perking, the Kitty Zoomies tea is a-steeping, and Sara’s delicious cookies are on a platter.

Didn’t sleep well. Going out for FroYo with daughter and fam in a bit. Then write, and try to fit in a walk. We are get another winter storm this weekend, so I want to get one in before it hits.

Pretty boring day. Carp the boring diem!

Hey all.

Red, yes, I think that was a joke. smile Glad to see your wife has her sense of humor. Anxiety is hard, I occasionally battle it myself.

Starting to get back responses from the readers of my WIP. Exciting and a little scary. Today I am returning the favor and doing some critiquing of my own.

I don't know if I've mentioned this, but it looks like my daughter and her family are moving to Maryland next month. I think it's a good move, and I am optimistic, but I will miss her. That sound you hear is my heart breaking, just a little bit. We've never been far from each other.

Anyway. Time to get to work. I'd love a coffee and a cookie, if any are left in the emergency tins.

Carp the diem!

Appreciate the setup, Bear. And Costco coffee! My favorite!

I will miss the Bear and Girl stories, but I look forward to seeing how you finish the tale. Nice work.

Red, that sounds frustrating. I’ve had a few go-arounds with doctors myself. My heart goes out to you and yours.

We had the company dinner for Layla at Tucano’s last night. A great time, but man I had a meat coma afterward. I’m not used to eating that much red meat, and I pigged out (heh).

Warm sunny day today. Should be the perfect day for a walk. Most of my Christmas chores are done (except wrapping!) so I can chill out and relax into the holiday.

Carp the diem everyone!

Good morning everyone!

That narwhal did indeed show up at Elf: the Musical this weekend! He even showed up for the curtain call. It was pretty funny. Very sweet Christmas show. It was fun to take my daughter.

Going to a fancy dinner tonight for Talia’s work. It should be a very good meal. After that, a pretty chill schedule til Christmas. Yay!

Coffee and teas and cookies are ready for SUDDENLY EATS ALL THE CHRISTMAS COOKIES IN A FIT OF COOKIE-PHILIA!!!

Time to write. Carpe that crazy diem!

My youngest daughter is turning 21 today, so we are going out to celebrate in a bit. Pizza, a bookstore, a glass of legal wine, and then Elf: the Musical. I hope that narwhal from the movie is in it.

Chilling until then. I hope everyone is well.

I posted today but forgot to hit Submit. Suffice it to say the teas (Sleepy Siamese) and coffees (Costco) and the cookies (Sara!) are all waiting!

Worked on the Weird Western and took a long walk. Picked up an ice cream cake for my daughter's birthday tomorrow!

Enjoy the weekend!

Hi peeps

Chilly day here so let's get the tea and coffee going.

*the coffee pot and tea kettle are clean and ready for today's goodies

Today's coffee is Cafe du Monde dark roast and the tea is red rose and kitty zoomies .

putting out the baskets of cream and sugars and the containers of lemons and mini marshmallows

checking the cookies still in good shape

The treat today is beignets

giving the adorable critters fresh water and treats

Pouring a large mug of hot chocolate with a mountain of mini marshmallows

Quiet day at home I hope but who knows ..

Beignets!? Beignets!? I’ll have four! Love those things. Thanks for setting it Sara!

So I woke up with some of the lyrics to Puff the Magic Dragon in my head and had to look them up? Does Puff die at the end of that song? He slinks back into his cave and ceases to roar! What a sad song. Really evocative.

Done with the book. This draft anyway. Heavy sigh. Back to the Weird Western I guess.

The weekend approaches! Enjoy!

Cat is going to the vet today. Gonna be the usual struggle getting him into the cage. AND we will be doing it while yet another snowstorm hits. This one is predicted to just miss us, but it should be unpleasant.

Finished the last chapter of the current WiP yesterday. So now I am REALLY done. Feels good.

A cookie and a coffee please.

I find myself struggling to finish Fall of the House of Usher. I was all excited about it, and I think it’s well done, I’m just…unenthusiastic. Part of it is all those long monologues.

“Grammar is a piano I play by ear, since I seem to have been out of school the year the rules were mentioned.” - Joan Didion

Nicaraguan dark roast from Las Chicas it is! Thanks for setting up Ape. Gonna miss that Brazilian Chihuahua.

Red, you might need to learn to work while surrounded by chaos. I am trying to learn to write even if in the middle of a hurricane.

I’ve been lazy about walks, because it’s cold out. Wimp! Not doing it today though, my cutoff is 40 degrees and the high is expected to be 38. Writing and cats today.

I’d love a coffee and a Christmas cookie!

Into the 'Dead Zone' once more--Where is everyone? I know Christmas is coming and time is precious, but just a couple of words--too much to ask? I'd better heat the water and make some beverages. I can't find Ape's cache of rare teas, but I have some spare Special Earl Grey from just up the road. Found a packet of Brazilian Chihuahua coffee under the counter--Don't know how long it's been there (packet is dusty, but sealed) so I'll give it a spin.

I know very well that Christmas is coming because my dear lady becomes 'Bossy lady' and has asked (ordered?) me to tidy up the room I call an office. If you've seen the opening scene of 'CATS' you'll know what a state the office is in.

Now, do I wait for the water to boil or should I get back to that rewrite with which I am struggling. ("Is it more important than the state of your office?!!!) Who said that?

See you later.

Thanks for the setup Red. That Brazilian Chihuahua coffee sounds like it’s worth a taste. I like to stare mindlessly out the window as the coffee is brewing, but that’s just me.

Talia’s home! Talia’s home! Nice to have things back to normal. Wish she didn’t have to work today.

Tagging an extra last chapter onto the work in progress. Day two of that is today. Looking forward to it.

A coffee and a cookie please,

“All you have to do is write one true sentence. Write the truest sentence that you know.” - Ernest Hemingway

Thanks for taking care of the coffee Red.

I am readying the house for Talia’s return, cleaning and listening to the radio. That’s my day. Sounds boring? It is.

A big winter storm is moving in. Kind of nice to see the snow coming down lightly as I clean. Occasional white snow devils formed by the wind.

I’d love a coffee.

Thanks for setting up Sara.

The real question is if I go see Godzilla tonight. I may, though the focus is on writing and walking (63 degrees!). After that, I am going into a cleaning frenzy as Talia comes home this weekend.

Nothing much else going on. My life is so boring.

I’d love a coffee and a cookie!

I last heard from Elizabeth in march of this year. I will drop her a line. I hope she is well.

Sunny and in the mid 60s today. Lunch with my daughter, maybe a stop at the weed store after. I will try to fit in a walk, but it’s looking unlikely.

The Western is coming along weirdly but well. Should be short - I’m thinking 5000 words. I’ve never written one of these before.

I hope everyone is doing well. Coffee and tea and cookies are ready and waiting! In honor of Gill, Kitty Zoomies are our special teas blend today.

Oh, enough of the miseries--and on with this historical piece. The rewriting is much more enjoyable than the original was, mainly because, although some characters and incidents will change, I know exactly where it is headed.

Good to hear you are rewriting, and that it is going well. I find that rewrites are often like that, you know where you are going and can fine tune things with more confidence.

A small group is all we need to keep the fires burning, Red. I’ll always try to stop by for a quick cup, though I am less reliable on weekends.

Might sneak out and watch Godzilla Minus Zero in the theater today. Looks really good. You seeing it, Ape?

Coffee and tea is out. Our popular Kitty Zoomies tea is steeping. Coffee is the same old Costco crap. And Sara’s cookies!

Just watched the entire Lonesome Dove miniseries. It’s SO GOOD. Just watching Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall being cowboys is such a joy. I saw it back in the day. I got a little teary at the end of the third episode, but that last one is just heartwrenching. And I knew what was going to happen!
