Hi everyone.
Cookies and coffee and teas abound!
I don't have much else to say. Holly (the book) rocked! See ya!
Weather is cooling off. It’s nice to feel fall in the air, though I will miss the sun, and the prime walking weather. I am going to try walking in cooler weather this year, maybe even winter walking.
FOUR baseball today, and drama in the halls of Congress. I may let my focus wander today.
Enjoy your day everyone! Thanks for the cookies Sara!
tumbleweeds
Hope everyone is well. Come stop by for a cup of something!
Writing and reading today. It is a little cool out, but I will still try a walk I think.
No baseball today. Braves and Rangers will be the teams to beat. I am picking those two for the Wold Series.
Coffee and tea are waiting. Cookies too!

I've been eagerly anticipating this series, although the trailer I saw said it starts on October 12. I enjoy Mike Flannagan's work.
It seems early, but I am hosting everyone again for Thanksgiving. My kids wanted to make sure so they could plan accordingly. I love having family and cooking, but just once, I'd like to relax and not have to plan and worry about the whole holiday.
We are doing some painting of guest bedrooms this weekend ahead of the holiday and partly for guests attending the spring wedding, we are hosting.
Enjoy the weekend, everyone. Cheers.
You are right, I got mixed up looking at the calendar. Nothing new there. Looking forward to it.
I bought a second telescope at a garage sale yesterday. Couldn’t say no. $100, for a telescope built in 1966, and a nice set of lenses. I’ll test out the optics today.
Other than that, not much going on. Glad the government didn’t shut down.
Enjoy the last day of the weekend!

Sounds like a Western? Or maybe s-f?
Memoir.
Finally saw a doctor yesterday. It was hard to get an appointment, during COVID and well past. She said, "You haven't seen us in awhile!" All seems to be well.
Today is writing and walking, and if I hit my thousand words early I'm going to the weed store to treat myself.
The Fall of the House of Usher drops Monday! I'm so psyched! I wished it dropped today so we could binge it all weekend.
I'm tired of making up tea names - someone else set up! For today, we'll have Costco coffee perking, and Snoozy Salamander and Hyper Monkey are our teas. And of course, BASEBALL COOKIES! Last weekend of the regular season...
Enjoy, all!

Possible title? 😉 I mean, it's not original (Ambrose Bierce wrote one called "That Damned Thing") but you could do much worse. 😋
So I awoke up at 2am, used the loo, and then barely slept after that. Feel like (censored) today. Don't even want to consume copious amounts of caffeine because that might disrupt me tonight.
Working title is The High Lonesome, though that will certainly change.
Off to the doctor for a checkup, which means an hour of waiting in the waiting room, which means I can kick back with the bio of Larry McMurtry. Great book so far. Might even bring a thermos of coffee.
Speaking of coffee…it’s perking, and teas are steeping. Plus cookies!

So, episode two. Drew has definitely gone completely gray and I'm absolutely here for it.
Not only that, but he seems flirtier than usual (but that might just be me).
Drew was always pretty flirty, in a wholesome, inclusive sort of way. Talented guy.
Started the new Larry McMurtry biography last night. Really good so far. After I am done I am going to read Lonesome Dove for the third time. Be lucky you don’t live with me - I talked about it all night last night. Pray for Talia’s sanity.
I am 17k words into whatever this Damned Thing is I am working on. Put it together and counted up the words.
So…presto chango… Cosco coffee is a-perking, Kitty Zoomies and Plodding Platypus teas are a-steeping, and Sara’s baseball cookies are a-crunching
Seize the coffee!
Finished Holly last night. Very satisfying read. One of King’s best in years.
Six more Mets games left. They haven’t one in a week (feels like weeks) but I should probably catch a game before they disappear for six months. Looks like the Braves are gonna be the team to beat in the postseason.
Still writing memoir, with about 20k words down. Feels like about a third of the way through. It’s hard but satisfying. When I walk I feel like I am sweating memory.
I still have that scary tooth story in the back of my head though! And a very dark one brewing, if I can figure it out.
I’d love a coffee.
I’m not that into football, but Lord, all anyone can talk about here is that 70-20 Broncos loss. Ugly, even by the standards of a Met fan.
Holly is a really satisfying read, Gil. I’ve got about 100 pages left. Great villains in this book, and a really good main character.
Woke up early for frikk mowers and weed walkers. Might as well get up and drink some coffee.
Yeah, King is hit and miss, but this one is good (Holly). It refers to some previous books (the End of Watch trilogy) but you don’t need to read them.
Spooky season is upon us! I hope we can get some spooooooky cookies from Sara. For our part, we’ll try for a scary movie in the theater - It Lives Inside looks scary.
I have no new dental adventures to report. Looking to be a good day. Coffee please!
Is anyone shocked when I say my day will once again revolve around dentistry?
Thankfully, today is just a follow-up, and things look chill. I should be home within an hour, and I have a new Stephen King to read (Holly is wonderful, a thriller, nothing supernatural so far).
So: writing and walking! Yesterday was the first day in well over a week I was able to have a day where I write and walk. I'm a creature of habit, and glad to be back to doing them.
A coffee please! And a cough Braves cookie. They are the team to beat.
Whew. I was getting worried, but my daughter’s numbness finally went away. Nerve damage was a real concern. Glad that drama is over with. Until then next one.
Therapy, and writing that is similar to therapy, is on my plate today. A warms sunny day, so I will probably walk too.
Coffee is a cookie would be awesome!
Back to the grind! Costco is perking, teas are teaing, cookies on a platter
My daughter seems to be doing okay, though there is still some troubling numbness. We’ll see. Parenthood is not for the faint of heart.
Between my dental stuff and my daughter’s, I haven’t written in like a week. I hope to remedy that today. I might be writing a book.
Enjoy your day everyone!
Clearly I was overreacting. I expected it to take 2 hours, it was over in 20 minutes. Pulling four impacted molars! The pain hasn't hit yet, but I think everything should be fine.
Still, it was nice to be the comforting Dad presence.
I'm going to eat and then take a nap. Thanks for setting up Ape. No more coffee for me.
Hey gang. My youngest is getting some serious dental surgery done tomorrow. Everything should be okay, but any thoughts and prayers and healing vibes sent our way would be greatly appreciated. I think that stuff works through the internet.
Thanks a bunch. See you on the other side of it.
Verbs
Thanks for the setup Ape. It is kinda quiet in here lately. It seems to ebb and flow though, in the past. Maybe we’ll see some new blood.
I will do my best to read anything I see posted, but I’m not always the best at doing that.
Woke up too early today. Wah. Cardiologist at noon. I am still a little sore from the DEAD PEOPLE’S BONES IN MY JAW, but I don’t I don’t imagine that will affect my heart. There is a story in there somewhere, but I’ll be damned if I can figure out what it is.
Mets are playing well, now that it’s too late.
Enjoy the day all!
Yikes! No customers! However will we pay rent next month? Turns on lights, gets coffee going first to get me going. Teas next - naughty monkey and little ladybug are out blends. No ladybugs were killed in the marking of this tea! Cookies on a platter.
I am back to normal after a couple long days. Very little tooth pain left.
Did I say my appointment was at 2:30? Tooth hurty? Get it? Hahahahaha! I love that joke.
I'll see myself out.
No one’s been in. I’ll have the caffeine elves set things up, I’m too groggy.
Had a tooth extraction and two bone grafts yesterday, so things are still pretty touchy. Gonna stay chill today. It’s gray and cool out, so a perfect day for it. Podcasts and rest sounds like the ticket.
I hope everyone has an amazing day!
Good morning! Costco is perking, Kitty Zoomies and Monkey Mischief are our teas, steeping. Monkey cookies on a platter.
Dentist later today, Normally my dentist visits are pretty chill, but this one might be a bit touchy. Oh well, I have bourbon, gummies and ibuprofen waiting. And lots of soft foods.
I’ll write a little til then. Another site might have some comp results out today, but I don’t think anyone is holding their breath.
Enjoy your day everyone. I’ll have coffee and a cookie!
Good morning all. Costco is a-perking, Kitty Zoomies is a-steeping, and Sara’s delightful monkey cookies are on a platter (except for the twelve I just chomped down)
I just downloaded Holly, Stephen King’s latest. Looking forward to digging in.
Chill weekend. Good horror at the movies - Talk to Me. The old monkey’s paw tale, scares the f out of me. Hope the movie is good.
Dental surgery on Monday. Wah. Bone graft. Should be an evening of pain, ibuprofen, and medicinal gummies. And bourbon. Lots of bourbon.
Enjoy the weekend!

I'll find something inane to watch on television
Watch the Drew Carey show!
Sunny and in the low 80s today. Love this time of year. Perfect weather for walks. I may hit 11k steps today. Depends how the writing goes.
The Mets are doing well on my Nintendo at least.
Buzzy Bee and Sleepy Sloth are the teas, the coffee is Costco, the cookies are Sara's.
Good day all!
What, no setup? Two and a half scoops in the percolator, our favorite tea blends, Kitty Zoomies and Schnauzer Snoozies, steeping. Cookies out except for the ones I have eaten
Hey Sara, you mentioned being a sports fan but didn’t even mention your Braves. They’re so good they are breaking records. Mets are too, but the wrong records.
Woke up too early. My daughter got in a fender bender WITH MY CAR, and while she’s covered I have been dealing with the logistics of it all morning. Good thing I rarely use it.
Groggy and in need of coffee. I hope everyone who sees this is well. Is anyone here?

Hard to believe it’s been an entire year since I admitted and accepted that I’ve been in love with Drew for the last sixteen years.
Plus, we’re three weeks away from new episodes (season 52; can you believe it?).
Did you ever find a new way to watch The Drew Carey Show online? I'm jonesing.

It's too hot to do anything outside today. It's going to be near ninety for the next few days. I was going to start clearing out the garden beds, but I think it can wait until more reasonable weather arrives. There is nothing exciting going on this week, just the continuing saga of aging parents (both are in their nineties now) and dealing with whatever new dementia-driven things my father wants to discuss. Sigh...
Have a good Tuesday, everyone. Cheers!
Our weather finally cooled down a bit. Sorry about your Dad. Been there, unfortunately.
I have major dental surgery in 6 days. Wah. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but my annoyance tolerance is much lower, and I think this is going to be annoying.
Today, though: write, walk, watch baseball. The Mets have a .5% chance of making the playoffs! Note the decimal. Half a percent chance.
Time to face the page. Coffee and tea are going strong, Jimmy Buffet cookies on the counter!
