Thanks for the set-up.
Good game last night, but the Mets lost. I am a masochist, so I will watch again tonight. Pain, thy name is baseball.
At least the comp entry is almost done. I'm not sure it's good, or even on-theme, but I have the ending. After throwing away my first 3000 words anyway.
Warm, sunny day today. Same old thing. Write, walk, supper with daughter, game.
I haven't sold a story in forever and it's beginning to mess with me.
At any rate. Coffee and a baseball cookie please.

We need some rain here so I will eat a couple raindrops and see if that works some kind of magic.
It's working here - big afternoon rains here, every day. I can dig it, though it's interfering with my walks,
Sara, not looking forward to the Braves taking on the Mets. It might be a bloodbath.
The comp entry...it's, um, going. Lots of work involved with this one. Not a good sign or a bad sign...sometimes good stories come in a flash, sometimes they take work. I too won't read a thing til I have an entry.
Coffee and a baseball cookie please.
Thanks for the setup. I was getting tired of that brown sawdust from Costco.
Rainy weekend, but we've emerged unscathed. Mets, not so much: swept by the BJs! At least they don't play today.
Hitting the comp entry today. At least it's shorter and makes a little bit more sense this time through. It's a cool day for a walk, and I'll have to dodge rainclouds, but I'll probably get one of those in too.
Coffee and a cookie please!
Thank God, I was getting sick of that Costco dreck. Appreciate the setup.
Same ol, same ol. This comp entry won’t behave, and it’s wandering away from the theme. Just gonna keep driving it toward the ending. Talia has had a long work week, so we are gonna kick back and relax tonight, and perhaps all weekend.
Weather is warm and cloudy. I got caught in the rain during my walk yesterday. It was (mostly) fun. It may happen again today. Mets play James's Blue Jays tonight. Identical records.
Coffee and a sun cookie please.
Okay, Costco Select coffee, Kitty Zoomies and Drowsy Doggy teas, a plate of fine cookies (munch, munch).
I filled out my All Star ballot this morning, Sara. Mets won last night, but the Braves are probably the best team in baseball right now.
No Talia Thursday, lunch with daughter, work on the comp entry, walk, watch the game. My life is so predictable.
All for now. Coffee to go please!
No one has been in for 24 hours!? Must be that nasty Costco blend. Here's a blend I call Monkeyshines, picked by actual monkeys off the coast of Madagascar. Tasty! No monkey poop was involved! I promise!
Plus, the ever popular teas: Kitty Zoomies and Drowsy Doggy. There's an old SNL skit about Puppy Uppers I'm trying to remember, but cannot.
Anyway. Time to write. I think I found the ending to the dog story.
Coffee and a flag cookie please!
First one in! You know what that means!? COSTCO COFFEE!!! Plus the ever popular Kitty Zoomies and Drowsy Doggy teas. And Memorial Day cookies!
Today: finish a story about dogs that turn suddenly intelligent. The opening is good, I've got no ending. Then back to the comp entry I guess. Also walk! Also watch baseball! And the Succession conclusion!
We made more progress on our Friends Lego set! We get to build Monica next!
Seize the week everyone. A coffee and a cookie please!

No time for Myths and Monsters for me. About to take Mira further on her escape to England.
And here's the reason why:

Red's three-part "I Am Viennese" is, incidentally, wonderful.Thank you , Verbal
So glad to hear it, Red! It's a great adventure.
My M&M is veering off course a bit, but I will try to figure out a course correction as I garden this weekend.
No big plans. I'll grill salmon/chicken and read and write and walk and watch baseball. Pretty much all I ever do. Not that I'm complaining. I know this sweet spot won't last forever, so I am doing my best to simply enjoy it.
Have a great Memorial Day all.
Coffee and a cookie would be swell.
The Mets actually won a game!
We had CRAZY clouds here yesterday afternoon, though thank goodness it didn't translate to severe weather. Cloud TV! We should have a similar warm/stormy afternoon today. I really love living here. I'll try to post a pic - hope this works.
Gonna tack another thousand words onto the comp entry today. Thing're getting weird, folks.
Coffee and a stormcloud cookie please.
Costco coffee! Today is my day!
No Talia Thursday, and I am having lunch with my daughter. I will work on the comp entry some. The Creeping Phlox and Tadpole Summer are finally done. I submitted them to places yesterday. I really like those two, though neither were easy. I haven’t sold anything in awhile. Sigh.
That crazy smoke finally cleared out, behind an intense rainstorm here. Hope you Canadians are okay.
Mets lost again. Tonight we try to avoid being swept by the lowly Cubs.
A coffee and a cookie again.
Thanks for the set-up Ape.
Finished the tadpole story and I think I like it now. I also finished a story about a sinister form of Creeping Phlox. It's pretty weird.
Today I will take a shot at a comp entry. 10,000 words is a big sandbox. I'm not sure where I'm going, but I think mine will take place on the moon.
Dying for some coffee. And exactly three cookies please. Don't let me have any more.
Ping! Join us for a cup of coffee, you magnificent bastard, and tell us what you are cooking up for the comp.
Crazy smoke from you Canadians in Colorado yesterday and today. Gives the sky this weird hazy glow. I stupidly went out for a long walk yesterday and felt crappy for several hours afterward. Gonna try to stay inside today.
I think I finally finished the tadpole story. I really like it, but it needs a lot of work to get it into shape.
Red's three-part "I Am Viennese" is, incidentally, wonderful.
I have a goofy sci-fi idea forming for the comp. We'll see what blooms.
Coffee and a mortarboard cookie please.
Fun Sunday! Lotsa yardwork on a warm sunny day, and the Mets swept a double-header! Five wins in a row. (Sorry Red.)
Anyone sick of me talking a out this dumb tadpole story has got to realize it's worse having to work on the damn thing every day.
Should be a pretty chill day today. Time to get at it. Thanks for the set-up, a coffee and a cookie would rock.

Good morning. Kind of grey and wet where I am. And I am a bit grey myself. Feels like a migraine looming.
Anyhow, I am here to put on some hot inspiration for those daring to write about myths and monsters and whatever else folks are putting down in bits and bytes these days. Coffee is a Jamaican Blue Mountain. Teas are Assam and English Breakfast. The pitchers of iced tea and lemonade are washed and refilled.
Have a nice weekend.
Myth and Monsters is your baliwick! You have to enter!
I will, though I have no idea with what. A spectacularly lazy day here at Casa Verbal-Talia (Verblia?). Raining and drizzly and cold and dark. What's more, we were supposed to go to a "mixer" in Denver tomorrow, but neither of us wants to go, so I think we're on the verge of blowing it off. This prospect delights me, guiltlessly. Lazy lazy lazy!
Anyway. Still editing this dumb tadpole story. It DOES have a monster, but sadly no myth.
Coffee and cookie please.
Hey! New comp! Right up Ape’s alley, I would think. Really not my strong suit, but I bet I can come up with something.
Rainy and cold here. I’m picking up my electric mower today, after getting it fixed for CHEEP! So cool to not have to buy a new one. I am expecting to mess up my back getting it in and out of the car.
Still wrestling with this weirdo tadpole story.
Cookies look awesome. Molly, did you make coffee whe you popped in with your announcement? sigh Puts on coffee and assorted teas: Drowsy Doggy and Zoomie Kitty.
Enjoy the day!
Good morning everyone. Dozy Doggy herbal tea and Kitty Zoomies black tea are our specials, along with Costco in the percolator. And all the cookies on a fancy platter.
Therapy today, and getting my horribly cracked windshield replaced today. Safelite repair, Safelite replace! You can HEAR the jingle.
Hey, the Mets actually won a game last night. It took them extra innings to do it.
Enjoy the day today everyone.
Still rewriting the tadpole story. I have a bunch of dumb plot stuff I keep having to mess with. Lots of errands today, so I won't have a ton of time.
Sunny, warm day, though, with afternoon thunderstorms - my favorite kind of day.
Hoo boy, are the Mets sucking right now. Sorry Red. And...I see Red has part three up! Looking forward to it.
Thanks for the setup Ape. A coffee and a watermelon cookie would be swell.

Having completed my over-extended involvement with my latest tale, do I now sit back and consider whether I should write any more since each new venture takes longer and is no longer effortless? I could read more (a long delayed pastime) OR with the sun shining and the boxes of seedlings screaming to be planted, I could crawl (not rush) out of my easy chair and do some gardening.
Decisions, decisions! Maybe a cooling iced tea and one of Sarah's tempting pineapple cookies will help me make my mind up.
I loved the first two chapters of this Red. Well told, and absolutely riveting (and timely) subject manner. I'd love to see more.
Sunny warm day, and few errands. I'm rewriting my killer tadpole story today, after it was savaged in critique group last night (actually they were very nice).
Talia is trying to convince me to grill salmon and chicken tonight, and I am more than happy to comply. Yum.
Coffee and a Flamingo cookie please.

Nope, that's The Beast From 20000 Fathoms, based on his short story The Foghorn (the original story is basically one short sequence in the film). That's one of the best pre-Godzilla kaiju films (1953) and is credited as an Inspiration for the first Godzilla film.
Good morning all. Coffee is brewed, teapots are full, fridge has fresh cold bevvies. Hope you're enjoying your weekend. It is lovely here.
Yep, you are right. Both great movies.
In critiquing mode: did novel critique this weekend, short fiction critique tonight. After that I hope to get around to Red's three-parter, I am Viennese. I'll get back to writing someday this week.
Rainy weekend, but things are nice today. Enjoy the day everyone! I'd love a coffee.

One monster, admittedly rather similar to Godzilla in some respects, that I keep coming around to is Gorgo. Terrific British kaiju movie about a mother monster rampaging through London in search of her child.
Loosely based on a Bradbury story I think. Great old movie. I was thinking maybe they found themselves INSIDE the movie The Giant Gila Monster
