The happiness you get from a simple strike.
Do you write down the things you need to get done, stuff you might forget, things you should do?
I have one such list; I mark the important dates on my table-top calendar, in my diary, as well as in the notes in my computer.
I made it a habit to look at my 'To-do' list every day, keep adding to it until it gets longer and then strike them down or delete them once the thing is done or work is completed. It gives me a sense of satisfaction to strike down anything on my list; I feel it is my accomplishment. Be it a small thing, but the sense of happiness you receive on achieving the impossible makes you a winner.
I feel everyone should do this because only when you write down your list of things to do will you ever accomplish them. There is a simple joy you receive from knowing that you can achieve it too. I sometimes wait to get to my work table and open the computer to strike down the one or two on my list because the weekend made me work extra hard to accomplish it. Once you do this, you will feel lighter, and the mental load you have will be cleared. You should be your own cheerleader before anyone else.
If you did not write them down, everything will live in your head, tangled and scattered. Once it is on paper, things will be in order and become easy to sort and conquer. Another psychological or scientific explanation behind this is that each time you strike off something, your brain releases a tiny burst of dopamine.
What is dopamine? A hormone often called the "feel good" chemical that motivates you to keep going.
It acts as the brain's reward centre, regulating pleasure, motivating us to push ourselves further until we reach the goal.
This little habit can shape and define you, help you stay organized, putting you in control above all. Breaking down all your tasks into simpler steps keeps you grounded, reminding you that every little step counts towards achieving a bigger goal.
Anyone can do it, all it needs is a piece of paper, a pen and a whole lot of confidence. Each small strike takes you closer to your goal, which will eventually lead to your happiness. These small wins are necessary in life to reach bigger and bolder accomplishments. You will feel disciplined and grateful towards life. You will finally feel the purpose of life, with these tasks and achievements.
Try it, you will be surprised at the results!!
