In The Autumn

Our meeting was by chance
one like leaf falling on another
not with planned descent
but landing by the whims of fate

Unlike the transient leaf
slave to further flicks of wind
you chose to stay
engaging me

We're twins in body, you and I
our lusting carnal appetite
finding easy fulfillment
from the first

But life needs true sustenance
not just sexual sweets
it's in our hungry minds
where the battle played out

That nearly ended our dance
till we found the recipe
of opposing natures
paired like yin and yang

Today we sit together on our bench
hand in wrinkled hand
blanketed in love and memories
against the gusting wind
