In Love We True Completion Find

What means this palpitation in my breast,
This savage wild elation in my mind?
What power is this O'er my soul impressed
That my sentient will is undermined,
Leaving me prey to inchoate desires,
Feverish with overwhelming yearning?
Can this be love that has lighted such fires
That my very soul with lust is burning?
Against this force, I have no sure defence,
And a thousand darts loosed from Cupid's bow
Have pierced my flesh, sweet injuries from whence
Bright new flowers of blood bloom red and flow,
Pale tribute to she who has me in thrall,
Whose beauty demands I offer my all.

Tossed about by the waves of emotion,
The frail barque of my soul cannot deny
The siren song of such extreme passion,
And like a victim of the Lorelai
I am doomed to be wrecked on the shore.
Impelled by irresistible power,
I must accept whatever lies in store
And willingly embrace this fateful hour,
Joyful in my surrender to its charms.
My life is no longer mine to control,
And peace will only be found in the arms
Of the lady who has stolen my soul
Casting her net about my beating heart
To bind me with cords that nothing can part.

The night brings no respite from my torment,
And lurid visions fill my fevered brain.
I pray to the gods of love to relent
And grant me resolution of this pain.
If only I could know she felt the same,
Matching my passion in equal measure,
Comprehending the same breathtaking flame,
The fluttering heart and sudden seizure
Every second she senses I am near.
Oh for a sign she shares this malady,
The divinely intoxicating fear,
From which no doctors art can set us free.
Only communion with my heart’s desire,
Will ever lave this sweet, exquisite fire.
