Run Off My Feet

Over-worked, never paid

Busy today,
Busy tomorrow,
Not free all day,
Same again tomorrow.

I have essays to write,
Rehearsals to go to,
My schedule is tight,
Feels like my life's through.

I need to research,
Develop my points,
Be left in the lurch,
Whilst a friend smokes a joint.

There's other stuff to do,
Tidy my room too,
Make myself clean (oooh),
Before I cause a coo.

There are jobs to apply for,
Or I'll face the law,
When my bills can't be paid for,
I like to observe the law.

There's a performance on Thursday,
The one in which I sing solo,
On 2nd May,
Do you have a polo?

Polo. Polo. Rolo. FOOD!
There's that too,
I need to buy food,
But I'm not in the mood.

My deadlines are all this month,
All in on the same stupid day,
I'm fed up of whoever decided,
All these deadlines were a good idea.

So if you ever wonder,
Why I'm annoyed or distant,
Just take a minute,
And realise...

I'm a busy bee,
Barely time for poetry,
So maybe you and me,
Eye to eye may not always see,
But sit here upon my knee,
And help me remember what its like to be free...
