"When does Violence justify anything?"

There is great shame in this world,
Clouding over the earth like a shadow.
A cry for change, for a future,
Such hope, twisted into a reason.

A reason, to loot and plunder.
As those angry at life decided,
On a path of violence,
Over the path of peace.

A child was shot.
Color, race, and religion,
What does that mean?
The police make mistakes too.

Violence bred by violence.
No one is going to be the better man.
No one is willing to stop and understand.
Both sides were wrong here.

And yet the violence continues.
A store burning to the ground.
People tampering with the firefighters.
Because they are helping the police.

They will swear up and down,
They hate police.
But it is funny how they change.
When they finally need them.

So to those now rioting in Baltimore,
No one here condones your actions.
Violence is not the answer.
You riot just to loot your community.

To the police who stand brave.
I commend you for your patience.
With the violence others would react already.
We all hope for peace one day.
