We just binged a handful of episodes of Based on a True Story. Kaley Cuoco is really good, it's a great show.

I have just started watching a Belgian 'Thriller' on Netflix called, Into The Night. It is getting more ridiculous by the episode. I'm not sure I will get to the end. Ok, I know it's entertainment, but I do like stories to be feasible, at least.

I finally finished up the final season of Succession. I think they did a good job ending it. All the characters are awful, so it was fitting that no one got what they wanted.

I tried to watch The Idol on HBO or Max as it's now called. I could not watch past the second episode.

How the Nazis Lost the War.

Nothing new, but an interesting insight into the personalities of the 'Gang of Five', Hitler, Göring, Bormann, Himmler, and Göbbels.

Succession ended really well, they truly are awful people (though I have some sympathy for Shiv). Wonderful acting.

The Idol is cringey trash. Never got through the first episode.

We’re enjoying Based on a True Story, with the ever-reliable Kaley Cuoco. Fast and funny.

Watching season 2 of Cruel Summer. It's just a teen show now, all attractive young people relationship drama. Too bad, the first season was clever and twisty.

I finally watched season two of The White Lotus on MAX. It held my attention, and I thought it had a lot more funnier and more emotional moments than the first season. I liked the characters and casting too.

Watched an interesting half hour video by religious studies scholar Dr. Andrew Henry (his channel is Religion for Breakfast) about the history of The Rapture in Christian belief and theology. While it is actually a feature of fairly modern Dispensationalist theology, he shows that there are much older roots of it.

Is anyone watching the reboot of Justified? I’m loving it- really gets the tone of the original.

Just realized that Graham Yost is involved with Justified. Cool. His dad, Elwy Yost, was a journalist and film buff who hosted movie showings on TV Ontario, our provincial educational network back in the seventies and eighties. There was Saturday Night at the Movies, which usually ran a couple full-length films, and Magic Shadows, which serialized old movies. I first saw the wonderful British kaiju film Gorgo on one of his shows, along with some other classic s-f.

I never watched the series, but it is on my list. The reboot looks interesting.

I started watching "Good Omens 2" on Amazon. I loved the book and enjoyed season one. Hopefully, they did a good job on season two.

Apparently, season 2 is based on an actual sequel to the novel that Neil Gaiman (who is no longer showrunning but is still a producer, I think) and the late Terry Pratchett sketched out but never got around to writing, so it actually might be good.

I hurt my knee this weekend, so I found Yellowjackets on Paramount Plus while resting. It is a Showtime production, but Paramount now includes Showtime. I watched the first episode and got sucked in. It's very compelling, and the acting is excellent. There will be a third season. The first season was better than the second one, so not sure what to think of another season.

Just watched the entire Lonesome Dove miniseries. It’s SO GOOD. Just watching Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall being cowboys is such a joy. I saw it back in the day. I got a little teary at the end of the third episode, but that last one is just heartwrenching. And I knew what was going to happen!

Currently bingeing on a French mini-series called (in England) Bonfire of Destiny.

It is a tale of three aristocratic women who are involved with the (Factual) blaze at the Charité Bazaar in Paris, 1897.

It is very well filmed and acted.

One is badly burned and is subsequently kidnapped by a woman whose daughter was killed, another escapes the fire only to be forced to marry someone she doesn't love, and the third is supposed to be there but doesn't go, but pretends to be dead to escape her abusive husband.

I find myself struggling to finish Fall of the House of Usher. I was all excited about it, and I think it’s well done, I’m just…unenthusiastic. Part of it is all those long monologues.

I agree. I'm watching it now. I'm looking forward to HBO's latest installment of True Detective with Jodi Foster.

I finished watching the new True Detective. It was okay, but Jodie Foster annoyed me in this series.

I rewatched the first season, and although disturbing, it was riveting. Mathew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson were both excellent. Now, I need to watch seasons two and three.

It started out so strong too! Jodie did get a little annoying. Season one was so good.

If you enjoy Historical drama, I have just watched an excellent three-parter on Netflix called Gunpowder. It is an excellent dramatisation of the plot to murder King James on 5th November 1605. For those who are unaware of what that is, it is why we celebrate Bonfire Night (not because I was born on the 5th of November, but you can be forgiven for thinking it! 🤣).

Even better, for me at least, it was filmed around the area in which I live. It also features Liv Tyler.
