*looks in the cookie jar and sees nothing but crumbs... Refilling it with cookies shaped like pumpkins and turkeys and chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter and banana cookies *

Hello everyone! Good to catch up on your news!

Thanks for your refills of the cookie jar, Sara! Glad the Nutcracker rehearsals are going well, Larry, and hope your wifi is getting sorted Bill!

No Thanksgiving this side of the pond. However, I am going to a wedding tomorrow, which is suitably celebratory. It's the son of close friends getting married and I know all the family very well so it should be a great day. So looking forward to it!
Get-togethers of family and friends are so much fun, Cynthia. I know you will have a good time at the wedding.

We will be off in a couple of hours, driving into the south and perhaps a slightly warmer temperature. But we still need to brew so coffee.

Safe traveling, Larry.

Safe wedding reception dancing, Cyn. Also and in addition, congrats on your publication news. Tell us more. ;)

Posted something a bit different in the Calls for Subs forum. This time it's a list of sites looking for book reviews. Check it out.

(slurp) Larry, he did right by the coffee. Anybody else need a cup or two of HOT: java, tea or coco?

A large coffee pretty please it's cold outside

The wedding sounds like great fun Cynthia!
Have fun at your sister's for Thanksgiving Larry
Bill what kind of trouble are you causing in the valley of the sun for Thanksgiving ?

I'm going to a good friends house for Thanksgiving since I don't have any family locally friends take turns adopting me for the holidays.
So I'll do some baking to take to the feast tomorrow.
I'll make a pecan pie from a family recipe
And I'll take some cookies too... Red velvet and white chocolate chip cookies
*checking the cookie jar *
*Puts out treats for the little critters*
In the meantime I'm hang out in my favorite chair.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Coffee's on as is hot water for the tea and coco crowd. At no additional charge, I've donated a giant, economy size bottle of a leading antacid for the benefit of all, especially those who over indulged even more than usual. ;)

Seems like the weather's pretty crappy over most of the US of A. Y'all be careful out there.

Happy Thanksgiving to y'all
Have a great day and be safe
And those who don't celebrate Thanksgiving ..enjou your day and be safe
That bottle might come in handy Bill
A large coffee while I wait for my friend to pick me up

*sits out treats for the little adorable critters *
The cookie jar is full of goodies

have a great day

Have a great day, all.

So cold today. It is not even Winter and I am already so tired it.

Heading home tomorrow.

Here's hoping Larry gets home safely and in time for the celebration of the birthdays of Louisa May Alcott and C.S. Lewis. Okay, to be honest it's just a suggestion some planning session for such an event might be in order. ;)

Coffee's hot as is the water for the tea and coco crowd. No pushing and shoving, please. There's plentry to go around, probably.

howdy
It's awful quiet in here today
Those are GREAT birthdays to celebrate Bill
*checking the cookie jar and refilling it with sugar cookies and chocolate chip cookies *

Good evening here in the mid-west. I just arrived home from our short trip. I'm making some dinner. While that is cooking I'll have some tea here in the coffee house.

It's good to remember the arrivals of celebrated writers on the scene. I'm posting a picture of Alcott and Lewis, each. Personally I've enjoyed Louisa May Alcott much more than Clive Staples Lewis, but it is just a matter of opinion.

Very happy to be home and here with online friends.

Haven't read Alcott. Not a fan of Lewis' apologetics but do enjoy his fiction. He's not a favorite like his buddy J.R.R. Tolkien, but I have enjoyed what I have read of his novels.

Hope you got home safely, Larry! Glad all my American friends enjoyed their Thanksgiving. smile

Morning all! I'll grab a coffee to wake me up!

Thanks for your interest, Bill and Sara! It's a longer short story (15,000 words) in the Christmas themed Gay Regency Romance genre (not obscure then!) And I'm just going through the final edits with the very patient editor I've been assigned and it should be ready in e-book form for a December 18th release. All a bit surreal really!

The wedding was simply amazing. Full of fun and laughter and a very special day. The reception venue, Bellingham Castle, was stunning, a proper fairytale castle complete with the nicest, most welcoming staff, plus a resident black cat called Duke and an Irish wolfhound.

Morning and/or afternoon to our Cyn - in a manner of speaking. ;)

Please keep us posted vis-a-vis your Christmas themed, gay, Regency, romance. Not sure I've ever read one before so I'm looking forward to giving yours an indepth perusal.

(slurp) Most potable coffee.

:glass8:
Good day to one and all. So tired from the traveling and the crowds. So nice to be back home in my warm little lair.

Nice cuppa coffee today.

Speaking of Regency Romance novels, do they include novels written during the Regency period that include romance. Like Jane Austen's novels? Or are they, or do they include, modern-day romance novels set in the Regency period? Enquiring minds want to know.

Oh, I always love the little treats you set out, Sara. And so do the coffee house mascots.

All of the above, Larry. The term can refer to those romances written in the time of the Regency (Jane Austen's, for example) as well as any stories set in the Regency but written later.

Glad you are recovering from your trip!
hi everyone
Cynthia I'm glad the wedding was fun and had a fairytale castle reception!
Hi Bill staying warm in the valley of the sun ?
Scott I have yet to finish a JRR TOLKIEN Book I've tried really hard .
Larry glad you are home... And I'm happy you and the mascots love the treats

It's too cold out there. About 35F/2C degrees temperature. Good thing we have hot coffee and tea to keep us warm here.

Long week with really little to do. Shopping perhaps tomorrow in hopes the temps will rise.

How's by y'all? Me, I'm still basking in the glow from LSU pulling off an undefeated season that included a long-time coming win at 'Bama and last night's 50-7 revenge for last year's seven overtime loss at Texas A&M. smile

Temp-wise, it's a tad chilly but not cold down here in the valley. Current temps are in the mid-50's with the high expected to be somewhere in the mid-60's. Before snowballs of envy start heading this way, please recall the temps down here during August when it was approximately twice as hot, if not hotter.. ;)

Larry and Scott have got me to thinking (don't laugh, it happens - sometimes) that a thread about unfinished books might amuse some SS-types. Any suggestions would be both a blessing and something of a surprise.

Sara, here's you a big mug half-filled with hot chocolate and topped off with a double-handful of mini-marshmallows. BTW, the coffee's not bad, especially when mixed with equal parts hot chocolate and brandy. Just a hint.

Hi, Bill. I have actually seen a thread in the forums asking people if they have ever not finished a book and asking for reasons. I am not sure if it was here or "another" site. I may check both sites and see if it has been done before. If not, it's a great idea.

Starting to make tea, now. It is too late for coffee.

It's cold out there and I am off to read scamps Adventures to my littlest fans who have pretty much demanded a tale today.

Stay warm everyone I'll check in later.

Lucky little ones! What a treat for them, Sara!

Bill, I'm with Larry and think an unfinished book thread is a fun idea!

Ginger and lemon tea would do nicely on a chilly night here.

I just found a thread here in our forum here started by Circle_Something. I will post it here and perhaps we could point it out for others to comment on it.

https://forum.storiesspace.com/yaf_postst952_Have-you-ever-been-unable-to-finish-a-book.aspx

I'm not sure of the protocol about starting a new thread with a subject already started. I note that Bill commented in that thread saying he could not complete 50 Shades of Grey. I also commented there that I could not complete Lord Jim by Conrad.

Tea for me once more.

The coffee is fairly strong today. But I think I can handle it.

Very little is happening around here. Just cold weather. I've filled the bird feeders, That should last for a week or so.

Thanks for the strong coffee, Larry. IMO, on Monday', strong java is a must have.

Also and in addition, thanks for bringing that 'unfinished books' thread back to life. It was fun going back over all the previous posts. For a brief moment, I was marveling at your being able to recall a thread from back in 2012. Then, upon further reading, it was revealed that the thread had re-emerged back in 2015 and then 2018. Me, I'd be challenged to recall that 2018 thread so you still get a gold star or two for your memory and good deed. ;)

Time for a second cup of today's brawny brew.

Yummy, gingerbread. Someone brought a pecan pie to work today and that's my dessert crack. Can't resist the stuff, though I did manage to keep myself to one sliver.

And a tea to go with the gingerbread.

We went out to see a movie yesterday afternoon. That was the first time I've been to a movie theater in years. The movie was Knives Out. It was good. Well done. Entertaining. I'm glad I saw it on the big screen.

Now it is time for morning coffee. It is tasting good.
