So cold. Just walked Victor while he was dressed in his red hoodie jacket. Productive visit to the great outdoors.

One last cuppa java for me today.

hi peeps
It's 38F here on my little mountain and I don't wanna go out.
Time to bundle up like an Eskimo.

Victor is not feeling well this morning. He was not eager to go out for his walk. He finally did his duty but is now cuddled against me acting blue. I'll have to watch him today.

The fresh coffee is brewing. I'm waiting for a nice cuppa java soon.

Today is a break day. No rehearsal. Tomorrow is final dress and then we begin the performances. I'm not pleased with a device I use as a prop for selling scarves on the street. But, I'll just have to use it as it is.

Hi you two. It is late but had to check in. Hoping Victor has bounced back. It was a first trace of snow on the grass this morning. But sunny and very cold all day. I've been trying to check online to find jokes. Short ones. For our Christmas lunch Friday. A small group of 10 - 12. Oh, I love my girlfriends! Got to go and see if there are some friends that need a post on their profile. Hugs.
Victor seems in good spirits this morning. The weather is not too bad, about 44F/7C degrees out there. Yesterday afternoon his Mommy took him out to the state park and he ran and played off-lease till he was exhausted.

The coffee is hot if anyone needs a perk up.

hi everyone
Elizabeth Pinterest usually has party ideas and games and jokes
Larry I'm happy to hear Victor is in good spirits .
*fills the cookie jar with Christmas sugar cookies *
*sits out treats for the little adorable mascots *
A large coffee would be great I need a perk up I've been dragging all day.

Did I hear someone say cookies? I'll help myself to a few. I had a mini panic attack when I realized Christmas is less than two weeks away. Hopefully, I can get everything done in time.

Christmas Eve, we do an appetizer only dinner for family and friends. Everyone brings their favorite one. That might be my favorite meal.

Finally got our tree up. We had to give up having real trees when our kids developed allergies. We upgraded our artificial tree this year, the old one had to be twenty years old. It's much bigger than the old one and looks more like the real thing. It is prelit as well. No more fighting with tangled light strings. I love turning off the room lights and watching the tree lights with my glasses off. The blurred lights are quite beautiful and soothing.

It looks something like this. Now I need to decorate it. That is slated for Sunday when I get back from visiting my Aunts in Philadelphia.

I hope everyone is doing well. I know I am in the minority but I love the cold weather so the cold windy day here is perfect for me.

I'll have ginger ale.

That's a lovely tree, Gill. We finally donated our last artificial tree to our small local library for display.

Tonight is opening night for The Nutcracker: A Kansas Ballet. I am hoping it will see a solid performance from everyone.

The coffee is not bad today.

I have been debating my tree this year again. We are away over Christmas so it seems a bit pointless now. It would only be up for maybe 3 weeks of which we would be away for like 10 days. Should have done it at the beginning of the month. I know why my family wants to get away. They need the sun and warmth and Christmas is one of the rare times they are both free (wife is a prof, son is a student, at different universities). Even winter break won't be an option next year because son will be on a work term so no break for him. However, I kind of miss an old-fashioned family Christmas at home. We have not really done that in years. Even when we host extended family, that hosting is about the extent of it. Oh well, I'll survive, I guess. Not like this is the first year we've done this.

Anyhow, writing has been happening, though not for this place. I may rectify that in the New Year, however. We shall see.

Tea time.

The old bookshop owner had something special for Dave.

Howdy peeps
A late drop in for me but I have COOKIES!
*Christmas cookies in the cookie jar again*
*special treats for the little critters *
Scott enjoy your vacation it sounds like a good time.
Larry that was sweet to donate your tree to the library
Gill that tree looks pretty

Me I'm not so sure about a tree.. I have a tiny little tree that is pre-lit and have mini ornaments for it that sits on my table. It's just big enough for one person. And since I don't have family near I usually get kidnapped on Christmas day to go to someone else house for dinner and presents.

Sara is always keeping everyone, including the mascots, happy with her snacks.

We took Victor out to the state park yesterday. We walked along the 18 hole disk golf course with Victor off leash so he could run back and forth all he wished.

Last night was opening night for the Nutcracker. It was a sold-out house. I think the whole run will be sold out.

hi everyone
I love making people and the mascots happy with my snacks
Speaking of snacks there are chocolate chip cookies in the cookie jar today
*sits out treats for the little mascots and checks their food and water dishes *
A large sweet tea pretty please.
That's great that Victor got to go to the State Park for doggie fun
That's great that the show was sold out
Happy Saturday peeps

Sara, I agree that you are the original animal whisperer. They love you. Now, humans sure love the special pampering you do every day. I am glad you are going to to and celebrate Christmas with friends. Nice not to have to work too hard by yourself. And there is nothing like friends.
Hello, everyone! Nice to pop in and catch up with all of your news!

It's a damp and chilly Sunday here and I'm danced out after Saturday night, per usual. A coffee would do very nicely! smile
Good morning, all. I checked the weather forecast this morning and it said a 90 percent chance of snow. So I looked out the window. Oddly enough there was snow. Victor was none too happy. We walked about two houses down and he turned about and headed home. He was having none of it.

The thing is this afternoon we give a performance of The Nutcracker. We will get home after the sun goes down and there will be snow on the roads. If we are lucky it will all get cleared off as the day progresses.

Fresh coffee is brewing. Hot water is ready.

The coffee is good this morning. I took a little spin out on the roads to pick up prescriptions at the pharmacy, just in case of worse weather later on today. Just a couple of blocks away from home I saw the first car off the road with the police car there. Must have been driving just a tad too fast for the snowy conditions.

I see my first junco of the season is on the thistle bird feeder. I haven't seen a junco in a year. But this snow has brought him to my feeder. I'm glad I filled them just a couple of days ago.

Hi, Everyone. Once again, thank you all for your messages of condolence.
My Mum passed just two days before hubby and I were booked to leave for Disneyland Paris. After some hesitation as to whether we should go, we were encouraged by my siblings that we really should go, since there was nothing that would change over the next few days.
We drove down to the South of England last Sunday and then took the ferry across the channel on Monday. The drive through France was a nightmare having opted to avoid the Toll Autoroutes. Although somewhat tired and subdued, we did enjoy the four days we had there, perhaps a little less than had the circumstances been different.
Nevertheless, we returned home yesterday, doing the total 500 mile trip in one go, opting to pay the almost Twenty Euro toll for the considerably better journey and including a 150 minute ferry crossing in gale force winds and heavy tides. To be honest, I was fascinated by the waves crashing over the bow of the ferry and against the huge glass windows of the restaurant. I even liked the resonating boom of the waves breaking against the hull.
Rested today and tomorrow, back to real life and sorting out various things for the funeral and Mum's estate.
Life goes on...

Good thing I baked extra treats yesterday.
*checks on the mascots and gives them treats *
I don't blame Victor for not having any of that snow business
Stay warm and safe in the weather Larry
Anna I'm glad you tried to enjoy Disneyland Paris.
Elizabeth thank you .. Ive always loved animals
Cynthia you need to relax.

I'm spend what's left of the day curled up under my favorite blanket
Happy Sunday folks

Morning to all Monday Mourners.

All of yesterday's warm thoughts and kind comments by Sara, well, me too.

I'm back from the VA computer training camp and will be here for awhile. My wife, who has dementia, fell in the bathroom of our assisted living facility and hit her head. She's been checked out at the ER but For the last few days, she's been hurting. The good news is this morning she's feeling mo' better.

BTW, my novel here at SS, 'More Than Just a Kiss' is the story of how we met.

Anyway, now that she's back to bossing me around, I slipped in here, made a pot of strong coffee and once I've gotten a double-handful of Sara's goodies (so to speak) I'll get down to verifying some of the recent submissions - I promise - honest. ;)

Great coffee, Bill. Nice to see you back.

That falling down is a terror for us older folks, I know. I had my fall about 5 years ago in the bathroom, just as your wife. I passed out and fell. My wife had an ambulance there in a flash. The hospital never came up with a good reason for why I fell. It must have been simple dehydration. The lesson is "drink lots of water", in addition to our coffee, of course.

Winter is truly here in the mid-west. I need to go out and shovel some snow this morning. I also need to get more de-icer for the walkways.

So sorry to hear of your wife's misadventure, Bill. Good that she is recovering. Falling was the greatest fear we had about my Mum. Over the past twelve months, she had several and the last one is what put her into a nursing home. She also had dementia and after each incident, she would remember nothing of it saying, "So people keep telling me but I don't know anything about it."
It is good that you are with her, Bill and I send you both my very best wishes.

So, about that coffee...

You are very welcome, Sara. I'm glad that I could be of service.

May I join you all with a double espresso, please?

Is it still Tuesday? It is? To quote Winnie the Pooh, "Oh, bother."

There are several new stories by folks who have either just arrived or haven't been around for some time. If you get a chance, please check 'em out.

I'm beginning to wonder how the mods and other 'old hands' here at SS can encourage these newbies to do the 'read, vote, and comment' routine on stories posted by others. IMO, it's the best way to get other writers to evaluate your work.

Any suggestions would be mucho appreciated.

Coffee's on and, if I say so myself, it's not too bad.

Good coffee, once again, Bill. I've been checking out every newbie that shows up. Some write work that I simply don't understand. Others I like and make comments. Others I try to give encouragement to that is not really appreciated. I so seldom get any of them to check out my work. A few do so. I must admit that. But most of the readers (and we get lots of them) simply don't want to give us any affirmation. I do appreciate the readers who give my work a glance. It is nice.

Need to go shopping today. I'm glad to see the sun is melting a lot of the snow and ice out there.

howdy peeps

But I did bring treats

The contended sounds coming from somewhere under the counter are, if I'm not mistaken, coming from a victor stuffed with Sara's goodies.

Larry, it might be time to remind Yaz and Maggie about this problem in a Mod Forum post.

Coffee pot is rinsed out and waiting for morning. Y'all stay warm and have a good night. ;)
