Hi All.
I am curious and more than a little troubled.
According to the badge list, this site has eight Moderators although Nicola never comes here and Gav is too busy with other things.
Ok, so that leaves six.
I know Roland has his own problems to deal with and hasn't been seen around these parts for some time so five active moderators.
The point is that I posted my latest chapter three days ago, on the eighth and it still hasn't appeared.
In fact, nothing has appeared for two days.
I appreciate that I am persona non gratis so far as moderating is concerned but what is happening here? Is there no interest in the site any more?
Am I the only one who cares what happens to it?

EDIT: Correction. Yesterday, (10th) two posts of less than 200 words between them...

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." George Santayana

Good morning, Anna. I'm just going to get the coffee brewing here. The water will soon be hot if anyone wants some tea.

The weather is lovely outside today but it will perhaps be snowy on the weekend.

Anna, I have noticed that we don't always have a moderator check in every day and for someone who is submitting a story and wants to see it displayed I know that can be irritating. I'll just say that I am actually pleased to see several new people who have become members and are actually posting stories. I honestly have no idea what the schedules of our moderators are like at home and work. I am happy to have someone do the approving when they have the time available.

This has been my site for over seven years. I will keep coming back day after day. It's my gentle writing home. I don't think I've missed more than a few days in all those years. I definitely have an interest in the site and so do many good friends here. And I'm always happy to know you are still here, Anna.

Now it is time for a cuppa java.

howdy peeps
A large coffee would be great.
This morning just kind of pissed me off.. 1.the therapist I've been seeing for like forever contract wasn't renewed so the place is telling me I'll need to see one of their people and that just doesn't set well with me
2 the place where I get my propane tells me I need to recertify my tanks which they have been filling forever the "kid" that filled them said it was new policy since my tank had a dent.. And OMG it was a tiny dent on the handle and my landlord was the one who took me and she was pissed about the new policy
I asked to see the new policy and the kid tripped all over himself. So when I to settle the bill I talked to the guy who I've been dealing with for forever and he said just to bring my tanks when he was there and don't worry about it.

But yesterday was a fun day. I got my first pedicure ever it was fun to be pampered.

I have cookies for the empty cookie jars...
In Big Bird we have : chocolate covered orange cookies, pecan divines, oatmeal raisin and blueberry crunch cookies
In Cookie Monster we have : cheery cherry chocolate bar cookies, chippers (3 kinds of chips(chocolate ,white chocolate and dark chocolate) ,oatmeal raisin and ginger snaps
*gives the adorable mascots fresh water and treats *
Planning for a quiet afternoon since the weather is all rainy
Happy Thursday folks

* puts on kettle and measures out some looseleaf tea *

At least we can gather here and not have to worry about passing on anything nasty.

Hope all are well. Looks like it is going to be a rough spring for sports fans as various leagues suspend activities due to Covid-19. Mercifully, other than keeping an eye on our local Junior A hockey team, I am not one of those. At least Netflix and others of its ilk are available and seem to be rolling out plenty of new content. Best way to survive self-quarantine/isolation, I would suggest.

Sonja did not have a cat. So why was this one making itself at home in her house?

Calico Cupid - Summer Love contest entry

The metal singer made Brenda an interesting offer, but was her interest in the music ... or him?

Heavy Cello Love

The weather has changed with a cold front moving through and the temperature has dropped. It may snow tomorrow. I have the coffee brewing now. Time for a cuppa java.

Well, we just got an update to the Season Reveal event that was coming up on the 16th of March. Our community theatre announces the schedule for the coming season in early spring and it is always fun to see what the coming shows will be and start deciding which ones to audition for, or look forward to watching in the audience.

Usually, there are about a hundred souls in the theatre to see the reveal. I had it on my calendar since it was announced last week. Well, the real world has struck. Even though we have no current cases of the novel coronavirus, Covid-19, here in town they have decided to cancel the live presentation. The new season will be announced at the same time but it will be online now. Truly not as exciting, but we must live in the times.

Time for another cuppa java. The water is still hot if you prefer tea.

In respect of the covid-19 pandemic: The French government has closed day cares, schools and universities among other measures. Restrictions are placed on gatherings of over 100 people.

The photo exhibition I was invited to participate in from 28March to 5 April has been cancelled but rescheduled to September. I have been ready, with my matted and framed photos set to go for some time now.

This decision was not a surprise and honestly, it is a relief. We would have gone ahead with it quite happily, but also with apprehension. This annual exhibition draws large crowds, which is great, but in these times, is also a concern.

I have family in Italy. They are in a region that is relatively unscathed so far by clusters of people stricken with the virus. But they are in confinement, can work from home, are healthy and all right, but!!! It is a drastic but very necessary change and imposition of these health and public safety rules.

My god-son lives in Shanghai, so he was already affected, concerned and confined in what now seems like a very long past age - January, February of this year.

What's my point?

We're all in it together, all are or will be concerned in some way or another. Follow public health advice about avoiding infection or infecting other people.

Look after yourselves and those around you and still find joy in life. Go for a walk, talk to a friend, write to a family member, help a person in need.

Don't isolate yourself out of fear - life is SO much more than that!

Eat treats and laugh.

And wash your hands!

A large hot chocolate would hit the spot right now.
It's gonna be a long spring without any sports.
NASCAR has even postponed their next two races.
They have postponed the Boston Marathon too.

Today is shaping up to be a quiet day so far. Suppose to go out today or tomorrow to pick up my repaired propane tank.

It's scary out there.

But I have cookies !
Today in Big Bird we have pecan divines, peanut butter blossoms, orange fudge cookies and blueberry crunch cookies
In Cookie Monster we have : oatmeal raisin, peanut butter blossoms, ginger snaps and blueberry coconut crunch cookies

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and trying to stay happy.

My Competition Story : 💜 Milly's Adventure https://www.storiesspace.com/stories/childrens/millys-adventure-2

Thank god we can still enjoy cookies. Not sure where to start with all that is going on. I just watched a press conference where everyone who talked touched the microphone, so much for good examples. Schools and universities are closed for weeks now.

My oldest called me in a panic. He is in the final year of his Ph.D. program and at a critical stage with his research. His Ph.D. will be in analytical chemistry. Grad students even though they teach and do research for professors are not considered staff so he can't finish his work. Monetarily it is not good either. He won't get paid and his side job is also with the university. Telling him he is not alone isn't exactly helpful.

My other two are less affected. My youngest son's German girlfriend can't come to visit next month. Her university is closed so she will probably not graduate on time and not be able to move here in August as they had planned. Middle son would love to telecommute to avoid his actual hellish commute but he works at NIH and since they are a secure government facility they can't send people home with laptops.

I also have not been able to help my parents with trips to the military base they shop at and see their doctors. The first case of the virus was at the hospital on base so they have restricted access to the entire base. I need the new Real ID license. It isn't mandated until October but military bases are free to deny access on that basis. The DMV has been having computer problems so I haven't been able to get mine yet.

At least my Mom has retained her sense of humor. They have canceled all activities at their retirement community. She and friends are joking that having to stay in with their spouses for extended periods of time might not be the best idea.

Today was a good day. I brought them library books, movies food and some other items they needed. Thankfully I was able to find toilet paper before it was gone. You can't even order it online. That is crazy. There is no reason to hoard the stuff. People have gone crazy.

Thanks for letting me rant. The weather here is gorgeous, 78 and sunny. My bathroom is coming along nicely and no one I know is sick. I'm thankful for all of that.

I hope everyone is doing well and managing despite current events.

I made some cherry limeade today. I'll leave a pitcher on the counter.

Cheers Everyone!

Ranting is good! I did that yesterday!
So glad you were able get things for your parents. Library books and movies are lifesavers!
I agree people have lost their minds
Sorry to hear about your kids issues. Hope things work out for them.
Yay for cherry limeade

The rain didn't turn into snow, as some predicted, at least not in my neighborhood. That is fine with me.

Now to get some coffee brewed. The tea kettle is on as well. And as of now, there are plenty of cookies.

Howdy peeps
A large hot tea would be great.
Story time tomorrow for Scamps littlest fans has been cancelled
Since all church activities has been cancelled and /or postponed due to the coronavirus.
I'll probably email the story to all the parents so the little ones have it.
*peeks in the cookie jars * looks like we are in good shape.
Hope everyone is staying safe.
This is so scary but I'm not panicking.
Happy Saturday peeps

Yesterday Gill said her mother and some of her buddies were joking about all this forced togetherness possibly being tough on marriages. Well, I just heard that the divorce rate in China has gone way up thanks, authorities say, to C19.

My wife-unit is still in the hospital but is supposed to be moved from ICU to a regular hospital room today. If so, maybe I'll get a chance to check in on her.

We're told that into each life some rain must fall, but, at the moments, it sure feels like everybody has been left under an overactive waterfall.

Everyone is thinking of you and your wife, Bill. Please take care. It is not safe anymore out there.

Has anyone else in the States received their census form in the mail? I got my form several days ago. I need to sit down and do it. This year we are asked to complete it online. They tested that back in 2000, it seems, but just now are putting into place permanently. I will be checking diligently to make sure this administration is not trying to get the personal information they do not need.

The coffee is brewing now. The tea kettle is on the stove.

Howdy peeps
A large hot tea would be great.

Hi everyone!

Just popping on to catch up with all your news and glad that despite the stresses and strains of this virus, everyone is just about keeping okay. *hugs*

I help myself to a lemon and ginger tea and one of Sara's delicious cookies.
Just wandered in for tea and cookies.

Life goes on. COVID is making for busy days at work, but it could be worse. May be working from home eventually, but we don't seem to have hit that point yet.

I have been doing some writing but not for here as of yet. That may come. My winter drought seems to be ending at any rate.

Take care.

Sonja did not have a cat. So why was this one making itself at home in her house?

Yay my library called and told me that they would be open their normal hours!
Tomorrow might be a library trip
Stay safe y'all

I've got me here a full mug of fresh hot coffee, no sugar, so I deeply appreciate all those great cookies! What better treat can a man have than to be given a jar of cookies by a sweet southern belle?

Andy Nonymous, "They're not all for you cowboy!"
My Response: "Well I'll be gawl derned!"

Enjoy your day at the library Angel! Thank for the cookies!

Bill, I do hope you can visit with your wife soon and she recovers quickly.

Sarah, thank you as always for the cookies.

Larry, I have not received my census yet.

I did receive a juror's questionnaire for federal grand jury duty. I am all for doing my civic duty but not this one. I had a friend who did and she had to be at the federal courthouse for three days every month for over a year. That's a bit much. They can extend your time as well.

I am glad I saw my parents a few days ago and took them some supplies. They have no pretty much locked down the facility now. My dad is not taking it well. They closed the pool there as well as all the county indoor pools. He has been going swimming almost every day for forty-five years. He is going to be even more agitated now and I can't do anything to help and ease my mother's load.

I got to the library just in time as well. All libraries are closed as well as schools. In DC they have closed all restaurants and bars. Being just over the line in Virginia I am afraid that is the next step here. Restaurants can still do carry out and drive-throughs.

No more trips to see my aunt either. I think everything is closed now.

Strange times.

I hope everyone is healthy and managing as best they can.

I'm going to venture out to the grocery store tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Cheers!
The coffee is brewing. The teakettle is on. The puppy is in the window trying to see something. No one is there. Oh, there are cars driving by but no walkers. No one is out with their dogs. And that is so odd in this town. It is a dog town. There is virtually no time during daylight hours when there are not walkers, cyclers, and dog walking going on out on my street. I keep waiting to see the film crew around the corner who is making a zombie apocalypse movie.

I am in the group of old people who should be self-quarantining. I have done so since last Thursday. My wife went out to the community theatre yesterday to do some work on costumes. We got an email last night that they were closing the theatre up until the end of March. They already closed the art center. She needs to just stay at home. We are pretty well supplied normally. I just have a shortage of facial tissues. Not a worry.

We are so lucky we do not have it a lot worse. I think of all my friends who are struggling now.

Take care.

A large hot chocolate with mini marshmallows will hit the spot
It's chilly outside but the sun is trying to shine.
Pretty quiet here so far.
Talked to my mom and sister so far so good they are stocked up and hunkered down.

It's sad not to see people out and about walking.

I have cookies! In honor of Bills birthday we have sugar and frosted cookies that are also diabetic friendly
We have shamrock shaped, rainbows, leprechauns and pots of gold
*giving the adorable mascots fresh water and treats shaped like shamrocks *
Not much going on here got to the library yesterday and they just rock keeping everything clean and germy free
No plans to go out today.
Happy St Patricks Day

Everyone please stay safe

My Competition Story : 💜 Milly's Adventure https://www.storiesspace.com/stories/childrens/millys-adventure-2

Thanks for the St Patrick's Day treats, Sara! Feels very odd with no celebrations here.

Things are gradually closing down here too and I'll just do one more grocery shop before self-isolation. At least we can still walk by the sea, for the time being.

Stay safe and well, all! And a very happy birthday, Bill. Hope you get to see your wife in hospital soon.
Gill, you dear girl are the busiest person ever. I am upset that your Dad will be deprived of his swimming. And your aunt will miss you. Hoping too that your boys are getting everything figured out as best they can.
Bill, I too am hoping to hear that you got to visit the wife-unit.
I got my census done online today. Had gotten the second mail reminder and wanted to save the government sending any more.
I went to the Dollar General today just to get tissues, cold meds (husband), milk and extra cereal. No milk except Almond Silk so I got that to try. No tissues so I got him cheap paper towels instead.
Lots of my friends are already anxious at the thought of being confined to the house and hoping we can resume our lunches soon.
The coffee is ready as is the hot water. Victor is taking his 'after waking-up' morning nap. It is so very quiet outside. I need to put on some music.

Howdy folks
A large hot chocolate with mini marshmallows sounds good right about now.
It's cloudy and windy outside (yuck) so glad I don't have to go out.

Thanks for the coffee, Bill. I was a little late this morning. Victor and I had to walk out in the rain to do our business, but it all is fine now.

Now it is time to relax in place and have some of the hot coffee.

I do appreciate the kind reception of my latest little effort here on SS. It's pleasing to know your work is recognized.
