* puts on kettle and measures out some looseleaf tea *
At least we can gather here and not have to worry about passing on anything nasty.
Hope all are well. Looks like it is going to be a rough spring for sports fans as various leagues suspend activities due to Covid-19. Mercifully, other than keeping an eye on our local Junior A hockey team, I am not one of those. At least Netflix and others of its ilk are available and seem to be rolling out plenty of new content. Best way to survive self-quarantine/isolation, I would suggest.
Sonja did not have a cat. So why was this one making itself at home in her house?

The metal singer made Brenda an interesting offer, but was her interest in the music ... or him?

Thank god we can still enjoy cookies. Not sure where to start with all that is going on. I just watched a press conference where everyone who talked touched the microphone, so much for good examples. Schools and universities are closed for weeks now.
My oldest called me in a panic. He is in the final year of his Ph.D. program and at a critical stage with his research. His Ph.D. will be in analytical chemistry. Grad students even though they teach and do research for professors are not considered staff so he can't finish his work. Monetarily it is not good either. He won't get paid and his side job is also with the university. Telling him he is not alone isn't exactly helpful.
My other two are less affected. My youngest son's German girlfriend can't come to visit next month. Her university is closed so she will probably not graduate on time and not be able to move here in August as they had planned. Middle son would love to telecommute to avoid his actual hellish commute but he works at NIH and since they are a secure government facility they can't send people home with laptops.
I also have not been able to help my parents with trips to the military base they shop at and see their doctors. The first case of the virus was at the hospital on base so they have restricted access to the entire base. I need the new Real ID license. It isn't mandated until October but military bases are free to deny access on that basis. The DMV has been having computer problems so I haven't been able to get mine yet.
At least my Mom has retained her sense of humor. They have canceled all activities at their retirement community. She and friends are joking that having to stay in with their spouses for extended periods of time might not be the best idea.
Today was a good day. I brought them library books, movies food and some other items they needed. Thankfully I was able to find toilet paper before it was gone. You can't even order it online. That is crazy. There is no reason to hoard the stuff. People have gone crazy.
Thanks for letting me rant. The weather here is gorgeous, 78 and sunny. My bathroom is coming along nicely and no one I know is sick. I'm thankful for all of that.
I hope everyone is doing well and managing despite current events.
I made some cherry limeade today. I'll leave a pitcher on the counter.
Cheers Everyone!
Howdy peeps
A large hot tea would be great.
I think we need HAPPY cookies today so

Hi Larry you are right it's not safe out.
Hi Bill I hope you get to see your wife soon
It's a quiet day here and so I might catch up on my reading
No plans to go anywhere..
Happy Sunday and please stay safe !
Hi everyone!
Just popping on to catch up with all your news and glad that despite the stresses and strains of this virus, everyone is just about keeping okay. *hugs*
I help myself to a lemon and ginger tea and one of Sara's delicious cookies.
Just wandered in for tea and cookies.
Life goes on. COVID is making for busy days at work, but it could be worse. May be working from home eventually, but we don't seem to have hit that point yet.
I have been doing some writing but not for here as of yet. That may come. My winter drought seems to be ending at any rate.
Take care.

I've got me here a full mug of fresh hot coffee, no sugar, so I deeply appreciate all those great cookies! What better treat can a man have than to be given a jar of cookies by a sweet southern belle?
Andy Nonymous, "They're not all for you cowboy!"
My Response: "Well I'll be gawl derned!"
Enjoy your day at the library Angel! Thank for the cookies!
The coffee is brewing. The teakettle is on. The puppy is in the window trying to see something. No one is there. Oh, there are cars driving by but no walkers. No one is out with their dogs. And that is so odd in this town. It is a dog town. There is virtually no time during daylight hours when there are not walkers, cyclers, and dog walking going on out on my street. I keep waiting to see the film crew around the corner who is making a zombie apocalypse movie.
I am in the group of old people who should be self-quarantining. I have done so since last Thursday. My wife went out to the community theatre yesterday to do some work on costumes. We got an email last night that they were closing the theatre up until the end of March. They already closed the art center. She needs to just stay at home. We are pretty well supplied normally. I just have a shortage of facial tissues. Not a worry.
We are so lucky we do not have it a lot worse. I think of all my friends who are struggling now.
Take care.
Thanks for the St Patrick's Day treats, Sara! Feels very odd with no celebrations here.
Things are gradually closing down here too and I'll just do one more grocery shop before self-isolation. At least we can still walk by the sea, for the time being.
Stay safe and well, all! And a very happy birthday, Bill. Hope you get to see your wife in hospital soon.
Gill, you dear girl are the busiest person ever. I am upset that your Dad will be deprived of his swimming. And your aunt will miss you. Hoping too that your boys are getting everything figured out as best they can.
Bill, I too am hoping to hear that you got to visit the wife-unit.
I got my census done online today. Had gotten the second mail reminder and wanted to save the government sending any more.
I went to the Dollar General today just to get tissues, cold meds (husband), milk and extra cereal. No milk except Almond Silk so I got that to try. No tissues so I got him cheap paper towels instead.
Lots of my friends are already anxious at the thought of being confined to the house and hoping we can resume our lunches soon.
