Well, my 'really big' news is the slight alteration on my sig line. (Larry's taco tag inspired me, so to speak) ;)
Good coffee - great carrot cake. ;)
Larry, glad you liked it.
But in fact it is far from great dancers just doing what they love from home.
It is an incredibly sophisticated, choreographed performance of professionals exercising their profession in order to keep themselves disciplined, sane, alive and optimistic. It is also quite interesting and adds depth to this work, that it is performed against the score for Romeo & Juliet, of Dimitri Shostakovich. Watch it again and consider the music and the story line, juxtaposed with the choreography and shifting scenes.
The director of this is a renowned French film maker.
My entire professional working life has been in the arts - I know so well what this represents, and how essential it is for the performers to maintain their discipline and physical levels of excellence.
It is also essential because art is not performed or presented in a vacuum, whether it is dance, music, writing, etc. Art is an interchange between the artist-creator and the audience, no matter what the medium.
As I said, culture is not cancelled. Arts and culture are as necessary as ever, in fact, even more so, in this time of world wide pandemic.
I'm glad that the arts community in your area is forging ahead, best of luck to them, and all artists in these times.
Latest virus news here is that Ontario's new model shows that things have peaked in terms of the broader community, but the situation in long-term care facilities (aka nursing homes) is not so hot. Still curving upwards. Which, sadly, appears to be the case in Quebec as well. So, things are looking up save that there needs to be a real effort in that sector.
On top of all the Covid trials and tribulations, Canada had its worst mass shooting in history over the weekend in Nova Scotia, which is really the last place I would have expected to see something like that happen (my beloved spouse lived there for 2 years just before becoming Mrs. Mendalla so I know the place a bit). 19 dead, possibly more still to be found. Shooter was eventually taken out by the RCMP (they got their man as always) but not before he took killed a 23-year veteran Mountie who was a mother of two and wounded another Mountie. Info on other victims is still coming out but we've got teachers, nurses, a family of three whose lockdown kitchen parties had gone viral on Facebook, and God knows what else. The last time we had a shooting of this scale, 1989, I had just graduated from my Masters program and started my first career.
Okay, enough glum news from North of the border. Anyone got some nice kitten videos or something to raise the mood?
I shall join the one above me in a lemon ginger tea.
Sonja did not have a cat. So why was this one making itself at home in her house?

The metal singer made Brenda an interesting offer, but was her interest in the music ... or him?

The inspirational coffee pot has been rinsed and filled with fresh water and some sort of coffee Scott hhad tucked away under the counter.
Those in need of some sort of condo-mints might want to check out the far right end of the counter. If that doesn't work, try the far left end. If neither one leads to success, then drink it black. ;)
Many thanks to Elizabeth for the kind comment she left on the years old micro-fiction story in my sig line.
Good evening, everyone! Hope your car is behaving, Larry! And hope your toe is better soon, Sara, that sounded painful!
I'll snag one of those delicious-sounding cookies with my lemon and ginger tea.
Coffee pot has been rinsed and filled with fresh water and the best coffee grounds Scott left under the counter. The cookie jars have enough cookies left to insure serious munching is assured until Sara adds a few more to the supply.
Glad to hear your car is in tip-top shape, Larry.
Later, y'all.
I've been awol for a bit. Grief has taken over my life. I won't go into details but losing two family members (not my immediate family) and not being able to say goodbye or be there with them was agony. I am far from alone. No funerals either.
I am not coping great so I have been trying to distract myself. I haven't had the energy to be online or interacting socially. I compulsively cook, bake, and clean and binge-watch television.
I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe. Hug the ones you can and call the friends and family you can't. You never know if it will be the last time you talk to them.
I want to bake bread but yeast is still not returned to grocery stores. I think I'll make a sourdough starter and see how that goes.
I could use some cookies.
Take care.
Gil, I am so sorry to hear of your loss of beloved family members. Please accept my deepest condolences. Bereavement and mourning are always difficult but they must be exponentially so during this terrible time.
My heart goes out to you, I hope your energetic activities are helping you to cope.
Please accept my condolences at this time, Gill. Only you truly understand how it is impacting you and your family. Just know that people care for you and are thinking of you.
Ended up nicer than expected here, so I guess I can't complain. Had my son's authentic Italian spaghetti carbonara (well, he says it's based on an authentic recipe anyhow) for dinner. Good stuff but rather rich.
Green tea and ... CARROT CAKE COOKIES?!?!?!?!. * grabs two and hunkers down in a chair *
