I’m melting in Kentucky, but relief is on the way Thursday.

Pretty hot here, too. Still waiting for my new concrete driveway. Too hot to pour again (for the workers, not the concrete). Crossing fingers we get it this week.

Fresh Haliburton Highlands coffee is brewed. There's some Assam Organic and Scottish Breakfast for teas. Pitchers are fill to the tippy top with lemonade and iced tea. Soda stock looks good. Put some popsicles of assorted flavours in the freezer given the weather some of us are experiencing. There's ice cream, too.

Hey all! Haven't been around much, I hope everyone is well. We drove up into the mountains with Talia/daughter/grandson/significant other. It was big fun. It was hot as f here in town, almost 100, but up in the mountains it was cool and lovely. Took a hike, looked at some giant fossilized redwoods (Florissant Fossil Beds Park). Came home tired and watched the Mets win their 7th in a row.

Going out for steak tonight, coming home for cake. I'll write and chill til then.

My weekend was a bit depressing. I attended my aunt's funeral in Philadelphia. It was good to see my two cousins that I rarely see. But bittersweet because I will probably never visit that area again. Her house was the site of every Thanksgiving for over 30 years when I was younger. My father is the only one left on that side of the family.

The weather is exactly the same everyday. Hazy, hot and humid with a chance of thunderstorms. I'm hoping Newfoundland will have better weather when I'm there in two weeks. It will be good to get away.

It's a fascinating competition, at first I thought this might be a slightly bland topic. But I was wrong, there are so many different ideas brought to life by first rate writing. Well done everyone.

I hope you are all enjoying summer, I am much less whelmed by winter, though in the main it's been fine (after the early torrential rain which resulted in widespread flooding, including a new lake in the outback the size of France or Texas) which means cold nights and pleasant days.
