Well, this is my second in under a year (Scream Away The Silence from the Sound of Silence comp is the other). There might be more to come. We shall see. And some of my other stories have metal on the mental soundtrack I have for them (e.g. a couple of the Tana stories have Nightwish songs as "soundtrack" and the character of Tana was envisioned at one point as being played by their current lead singer).

I haven't read the story yet, but HEAVILY agree about writing about what you love (he said, having never written about baseball) (I do have a small but about my love of playing catch in the novel).

Hmm. So for me, that might be a symphonic metal band with a cellist and a fantastic Dutch lead singer on a fantasy quest. Though a D&D party comprised entirely of bards is likely a bit of a losing proposition. 🤣

Good day, all! Long weekend here in the Great White North but we are kind of shut in here due to poor air quality (smoke from the wildfires out West). However, I am doing some writing and listening and stuff to relax.

Putting on some Haliburton Costa Rica Azalea coffee. For teas, we have an Organic Orange Pekoe from David's and also their David's Breakfast. Pitchers are washed up and refilled with fresh lemonade and unsweet iced tea. Sodas are stocked up. For the tummy and tastebuds, we've got date squares and brownies.

Heya everyone.

The game was Big Fun. Not exactly a crisp, well-played game, but the Rockies won, with a 17-16 final score. It was fun to watch. 40 hits, 3.5 hours (and that doesn’t include the concert). The Dead cover band was reasonably good, good enough to get us dancing. Anyway, fun night.

Good afternoon. Hope all are doing well this fine day. Our air has cleared out so I can go for a walk without inhaling smoke from fires so far away I only hear about them on the news.

Scott, my husband, makes date squares fairly often. Maybe it's a Canadian thing? I modify the recipe when our fig tree is producing pounds of figs to make fig squares. I like both kinds of squares.

It is staying relatively cool here; it's a nice change of pace. I am trying to complete everything before I leave for my trip to Newfoundland on Sunday. I like to plan and organize; my husband, not so much. It will be good to get away.

I hope everyone is having a good week. I'll take a soda to go. I'll be hanging out on my back deck until further notice.

Not sure. Don't recall if I have had them in other countries. There's two types that I have had. There's the ones I think you are talking about where the dates are in a jammy layer in the middle with a crumble on top. And the ones my mother made where they were in pieces in a firm, dense cake-like dough. I have a recipe around for the latter and my wife have made it occasionally.

How is it going out there, folks? Bit cloudy and muggy in my world. Air quality is better but still a bit off due to smoky.

Fresh coffee is brewed and teapots are filled. Cold bevvies are looking good.

Toying with writing but not doing much. Too tired after work these days. Maybe on the weekend.

Weather is better. Still a bit on the hot side but not the steamy, muggy days we've had at other times this summer. The air quality isn't perfect, but better than the beginning of the week.

For me, too! I’m very interested in who the judges picked in this one! I haven’t a clue! and I’m fine with wherever mine lands. I’ll be in great company in or out of Top Ten! 😊

I have my own top 3 pegged but that's my favourites, not a guess at the results. I have no idea if the judges and I are on the same page. We'll see tomorrow, I guess.

Blue Jays – yesterday and tomorrow:

Yesterday, they beat the worst team in baseball – the Rockies – by a football score: 20 - 1. The total score for the three game series set a record for the number of runs scored in a three game set.

BUT…

Tomorrow, they'll be taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers, they of the mighty payroll. I doubt VERY much whether the Jays will set any records for run differentials in THAT set.

But it could be, perhaps, a precursor of one possible World Seris matchup.

Plus it will pit Otani against Guerro – and battle of MVPs.

It should be interesting. I just hope the Jays can take two out of three!

Okay ... Blue Jays ... Let's ... Play ... Ball!! (I imagine they've retired that song by now but it's stuck in my head for life). Absolutely not a baseball person but I'll perk up and pay attention a bit if they manage to go all the way.

I hope you all are well. I checked in every so often and read posts here to stay updated. I decided the past two competitions weren't something I could write for. I wasn't inspired by anything. I'm glad those of you who did participate seemed to have great fun. Hopefully I'll join in on the fun for the next competition.

I've had ideas for writing other stuff. A song was kind of coming into my head last night. Hopefully I'll have something written and submitted soon. I should be around more frequently and 🌹Cora's Creations🌹 is having a Grand Opening 🎉!

I am knee deep in a second draft of the novel - currently heavily reworking the last five chapters. Then, well, I guess a third draft begins. This is hard work.
