Oh yeah... to our humble site there Hungry Person...

We don't offer food, but we do have some good stuff to read...

I do try to keep up with posts of interesting contests and writing markets, and your contest did get posted late last year...so, like Miss Rascalness said, there should be some interest...

Cheers,
Alan.
My poem The Letter is now out in the print issue of Craig Hart's fine, cutting edge literary journal The Rusty Nail...

The Rusty Nail, January 2013 [Paperback]

I think I may have previously reported that it was in the October issue...but, I corrected that...it is most definitely in this issue...might help if I actually looked first...

Sorry, moved this post...but, trying to keep this stuff together in order not to confuse myself much more than I am now...

My poems Arrested By The Grammar Police and Steal This Poem are now out in Craig Hart's fine, cutting edge literary journal The Rusty Nail...doesn't look like they run the poems in the online edition first anymore, from what I can see...but no matter...I'm definitely in this...

Being obsessive about coffee is a disorder? I'm in big trouble.

Lol...you and me both...let me grab another coffee and think about this...
‎"Daily Science Fiction (DSF) is a market accepting speculative fiction stories from 100 to 10,000 words in length. By this we mean science fiction, fantasy, slipstream, etc. All that fits under the broader science fiction umbrella. We have a special and growing need for flash, stories of 1,000 or fewer words, and other short short fiction."...anyway, they pay 8 cents per word...check it out my sci-fi writing friends...

Yeah... Don...I wouldn't get too wrapped up in all the grammar stuff, and I don't think anyone here expects everything you write to be Pulitzer Prize material...that's what sites like this are for, really...to let us amateurs share with others...

When I first posted my first story online in 2009, nobody really noticed it...it took months before anyone commented on it...but, it didn't deter me...and writing has kept me occupied and off the streets for the last few years...

And like anything else...you get better at it by doing it...
I read recently that the average age of The Rolling Stones is now higher than the average age of the members of the U.S. Supreme Court, and hard to believe this video is almost as old as me...great stuff though...

From the Washington, DC club dates he used to do in the 1980's with The Snake Stretchers...Mr. Roy Buchanan...

Congratulations, Mr. Editor-in-Drink and best of luck with the new venture. On behalf of writers everywhere, can I now dog-cuss you as a tasteless, pinheaded idiot? That is, of course, how we writer's communicate with editors. smile

I'm kinda liking that "Editor-in-Drink" title...gives me an idea next time I get business cards made up...

And feel free to curse me out however you see fit...why, not? Everyone else does...

Moderators please speak up.

Thank you

Hey Gypsy...speaking as one of the mods here, we generally don't police the games too much...there are a number of instances in the games where somebody didn't understand the rules, or two people posted at once and referred to the same previous word in a post, etc., etc...

Often, in order to really "correct" the situation, a number of posts would have to be removed in order to delete the original offending post...we decided a while back that the games are intended for fun, and we're not going to attempt to correct it every time someone misspells a word, or uses the same starting letter in "The End Is The Beginning" or skips a number in "Let's Count" or whatever...it really is without consequence...

I think you can understand our thoughts here...thanks...
Got my first "Editor" credit recently, in a book by William S. Peters Sr...founder of Inner Child Enterprises...

The Vine Keeper

Something different for me, and the reality is I was more of a proofreader than editor per se...you don't really do editing with poetry in the traditional sense...it is more a matter of correcting certain word usages...Bill uses "it's" all the time instead of "its" for instance...repeated words, that sort of thing...one would expect a certain amount of errors in a 400 plus page book, no doubt...and I worked on this one a few days...

Btw, I got this job by spotting a couple of errors on the Inner Child site that nobody else noticed apparently...I'm great at spotting errors in other people's work, but can't spot my own to save my life...something that is not unusual...

I've been told the other day that they have a couple of more books lined up for me...so, might have a new career as an editor...not...

Damn...I have this album, on vinyl, of course...Golden Earring...and I kinda like this video, maybe it's just sentimental...
Yeah, I remember that movie Louise...Donald Duck Dunn died this year btw...

Here's an old one from Mr. Elvis Presley...

Thanks, Alan...this one sounds fun!

Go for it Maggie...you could probably even throw a rascal into the mix...

Something a bit different...here's a no-fee short story contest that must include a cat, a Rottweiler, and the phrase "it was a dark and stormy night"...$100.00 first prize...check it out my friends...
