Yeah, cool, far out and groovy like Rump said...in fact, it's the cat's pajamas...

Where you find this thing anyway Maggie? I had no clue about this...

Are there other SS resources I don't know about? They don't tell me anything around here...
I think there's a certain amount of truth to that...I often find it easier to put something in writing than say it out loud...

Something you don't see every day...have a story illustrating the importance of cost-awareness in healthcare? Open to patients, doctors, nurses, friends, etc...$4000.00 first prize, 750 word limit...and no entry fee...go for it my cost-aware writing friends...

but at the table, I keep my fork in my left hand, knife in my right and don't switch the knife to my left hand to cut my food.

I do that as well...but, I'm right handed...

Btw...nice to hear we're not too dangerous...I was really worried there all these years...

and there is a great deal of pleasure in writing by hand, with good paper and a lovely fountain pen.

I agree, but admit I haven't done that in some time...seems most of my correspondence in the last few years has been more conducive to e-mail and the like...

Double post, sorry.

We might have to call in a moderator to delete one of those double posts...do you think we can find one at this time of night? Don't know...

I could report a few of yours for the sake of research, Alan.

Thanks...I can do it myself now, but nice of you to offer...

Because the original title of this thread says "Report Abuse"...I was looking at the "Report Offensive Post" link at the bottom above the comments...

Makes me glad I don't use my phone for internet...of course, my phone is barely sophisticated enough to make phone calls...I have trouble relating to all this fancy high tech stuff...I'm lucky I can turn my computer on by myself...
Does this actually say "Report Abuse" or "Report Offensive Post?"...I'm not sure I see what you're referring to, and I just logged out and tried it...

I was going to report one of my stories as offensive...just for the heck of it...
Cool...looks like I now have two poems coming out in the premier issue of eFiction Magazine Humor edition, edited by Holt Hunziker, and the premier issue will be published December 21, 2012...the day the world is supposed to end...again...so, don't know if I'll actually see my poems there, but "Political Banter" and now "Poetry Contests" should be in it...if the world don't end that day...

Proem isn't used much anymore, at least in my circles, so it seems an odd choice for inclusion in the word cloud.

Can't recall the last time I used poppet, caterwaul, or fattish either...interesting that the word "future" is included...

Apparently there was no future before Chaucer...
I had no idea he invented Twitter...the man truly was ahead of his time...

Interesting collection of words he got there...a "proem?" Is that like a prose poem or something?

If not a recipe category, how about a forum topic?

We had discussed this, as it had come up before, and it was decided that a recipe category is not a good idea, since it's not really creative writing which is what the site is about...it would be different if the recipe is part of a larger story, and then it would go in whatever category the story itself best fit...

You could feel free to start a forum topic though...the Break Room would probably be your best bet...

Thanks for posting this Alan, but wouldn't you know it...the poems must have been written this year — which is when I started writing more free verse and less metered/rhyming poetry.

You could always lie, or say you forgot when you wrote them...you know, the old line about getting forgetful in your old age...I mean, middle age...we won't tell anyone...
"A prize of $1,000 and publication in the annual anthology of the Society of Classical Poets will be given for a group of poems that incorporate meter and rhyme. All entries are considered for publication. Society president Evan Mantyk will judge. Submit three to five poems of up to 50 lines each by January 1, 2013. There is no entry fee. Visit the website for complete guidelines."...check it out my friends...

Note also, that membership in the society is free...I just sent them an e-mail, for all that's worth...
This might interest some here..."A prize of $500 is given annually for a short short story published during the current year. Stories published “in any print or electronic publication designed for public display” are eligible. Jacob Appel, Megan Arkenberg, Kevin Couture, Jennifer Dawson, Gay Degani, Chad Simpson, and Shelley Singer will judge. Authors may submit one story and editors may submit up to two stories of no more than 1,000 words each by December 31. There is no entry fee. Visit the website for complete guidelines."...check it out my friends...

The Micro Award

Btw, reading the rules, it would appear that any story under 1k posted here on SS would be eligible...so, go for it...

Alan, did you know you are on poemhunter? I go on there to find poems that I post up sometimes...RESPECT!

Oh yeah, I posted some stuff there earlier this year...but not sure it's really worth posting more...they don't seem to get a lot of views...

Someone talked me into posting some stuff on this site as well...but again, not sure it's worth it...

Deep Underground Poetry
http://deepundergroundpoetry.com/

The only poetry sites I've found that get a decent amount of views are Poetry Craze and Got Poetry...and most of my stuff gets more views over here than Got Poetry anyway, but it's probably fairly close...PC generally gets a lot of views though...
Alright...my latest poem will be published in the next issue of eFiction Magazine...

And Mr. Martini, you know as well as anyone the value of a bit of shameless self-promotion. Just sayin'...

Yes, self-promotion, shameless or otherwise, can do wonders...though actually I've never really done much to promote my posts here, other than the occasional post on Facebook or tweet...and I don't always do that...

For instance, I have no clue as to why "Neon Sign" has almost 3k views...I know I posted the link to it in one dark poetry group over on Facebook, which has about 26 members...my guess is that somebody had to have re-posted the link in a more active group, as I know that poem seems to have a few fans on poetry sites, but where I haven't a clue since nothing shows up in Google search...it must be a closed group somewhere...

The 9/11 poem I added the tags "9/11" and "9/11 poetry" a couple of months back, so it would come up in searches more often...it gained about 700 views last month btw, shooting past "The Birthday Party" and into second place in most viewed stories here...so, there's probably something to be said for tagging as well...
