I thought you Stories Space people might need some cheering up...OK, maybe not...

I do think this is a remarkable video though by Reverend Gary Davis...

I'll just add another onto this thread...

"The oldest literary magazine in America, published at the University of Northern Iowa. Interested in high-quality poetry, fiction, and nonfiction on any subject; especially interested in work that addresses contemporary North American concerns and issues, particularly with the environment, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and class."

The NAR pays $1 per line for poems or $5 per 350 words of prose (minimum payment for either genre is $20, maximum $100).

Hey Gav...I'm told there is an issue with submitting multiple entries in the contest...someone here got an error message when they tried to submit their second entry...

Not good for business...

for the "Audio Stories" category says "Free audio erotic stories". Something that didn't get caught in adapting the site maybe?

There's been a couple of places where the word "erotic" has slipped in (no pun intended)...I found that out posting the link to the last contest...

Haven't even tried to post the link to this contest yet...so, I really don't know what surprises may be in store...

or how about chaining them buck naked to the bumper of a vehicle, dragging them through a cactus field, then dunking them into a barrel of iodine?

You know, I do like the way you think Rose Girl...I do, however, think the cactus should be doused with kerosene and set ablaze if only for the added visual effect...

Btw, does anyone else think hungry Scorpions should be let loose in the cactus field? Just saying...

I'm thinking of doing a short course next autumn, partially just for the fun of meeting other writers in the area.

Actually, that's a good idea Chrissey...actually, one of these days I'll get my lazy butt to join this group since I realized recently that I'm actually in walking distance of where they meet once a month...

Oh, here we go...SageWoman is a quarterly magazine of women's spirituality..."Our readership includes women of a variety of religious faiths, ranging from Roman Catholic to Lesbian Separatist Witch and everywhere in between"...I'm just curious what a Lesbian Separatist Witch is like...pays .01 per word...

Not going to list all the rules of this except that they are looking for plays with less than eight characters..."Four plays will be selected for inclusion in a series of staged readings to be held in July 2012. Playwrights included in these readings will be awarded $250."...Interested? Check it out my friends...

Writing!

Very good Sharon...btw, Btw, Sharon and I are coming up with a plan on how to deal with plagiarists...I can't go into details at the moment...let's just say it involves flaming bear traps covered with snake venom, and hungry wolves...
The good news is that we found the forum again...there was a bit of a scare there...

The bad news is that I don't seem to be getting e-mail notifications when I get a PM here...Oh Gav...
Good Evening everyone, hope this message finds all my Stories Space friends well btw...

Just like to point out a couple of things here...first off, judging by the quality of the initial entries, I am sort of glad I'm not eligible for this one, I work here now in case anyone hasn't noticed...I don't think I would stand an ice cube's chance in Hell this time around...

The other thing I'd like to point out...since there are now four entries...yes, four...and feel free to count them btw...

But, since there are four entries...it means you can't all be winners...

The other thing I'd like to point out is that bribing a moderator of this site in the hopes of getting in the Winner's Circle is most definitely not acceptable...it is flat out immoral, wrong, and totally against the rules...not to mention against everything we stand for here at this fine, respectable hub of morality known as Stories Space...

Therefore all those gallons of ice cream and bottles of vodka will in no way assure you a place in the coveted Stories Space Winner's Circle...

I mean, you have to at least submit a story first...jeez, come on people...get with the program...
Sorry to hear that Diane...we'll keep her in our thoughts...

On another note...Oh Damn, it is Friday the 13th...

Be scared, be very scared...
My personal opinion is to opt for the "higher" ie, more "adult" rating...

For instance, I think if you have a four chapter story, and one of the chapters mentions sexual activity, all of the chapters should be rated 18+ or whatever...

Again, this is just my opinion...there doesn't seem to be a real guideline at the moment for either scenerio, so it's a discretionary thing...I guess as the site grows and these situations occur with some frequency it may have to be addressed...

So for now...use your judgement...or borrow somebody else's...whatever...

Btw...I'm not sure how much value there is in rating something 18+ as far as preventing someone, say, 16 from reading it...if anything, it may have the opposite effect and encourage underage reading...but, don't tell anyone I said that...I'll just have to deny it...
And someone in a Facebook group pointed out earlier that you don't have to figure out which forms to use these days, or download anything...there is a link to the eCO (Electronic Copyright Office)

U.S. Copyright Office - Online Services (eCO: Electronic Copyright Office)
http://www.copyright.gov/eco/

See, who says you can't learn anything on Facebook?
Hey there...hope everyone's New Year is off to a great start, writing wise, and I think it's very encouraging from what I have seen so far...it seems quite a few here are getting back into writing in a big way for 2012...

I have two goals as a writer for 2012...the first is to get more poetry published, ideally a whole book of my stuff, and will be doing what I can this year to accomplish that...

I did make a certain amount of effort in 2011 to get stuff published, and personally I think I did fairly well to that end, but really didn't make much effort to get poetry published...perhaps because there's usually not much in the way of, um, monetary gain associated with poetry publication, the thought sort of gets pushed aside...

What's changing my opinion this year is the very real and very persistent problem of people stealing my poems...combined with the fact that I believe I may actually have a real chance of getting accepted by a real publisher, based on my increased popularity as a "poet"...a term I use loosely, btw...especially as a result of the 9-11 poem thingy...

The other writer goal I have for 2012 is to get back into writing my novel...some here may have read the one chapter I have completed, Chapter 2 of all things...yeah, who says you have to write a novel in order? Anyway, some here may recall I got my computer stolen in Sept. 2010, so that sort of derailed that project...the idea of rebuilding lost notes is something I look forward to like another root canal, and I had one of those a couple of months ago, btw...

But, I really do think the novel will be worth it...and hopefully the rewards will ultimately outweigh the grief, of which there will be much...

Both of those above goals I think will be doable, btw...and if I do accomplish them, I will be sort of like...

Wish me luck here people...

Cheers,
Alan.
Yeah, I would not want to be a stone..."stoned" maybe, but that's something entirely different...

And since I am a DirtyMartini...please don't spill me either...that would, of course, be alcohol abuse...and we'll have none of that around here...

Nice poem, btw Yas...
