The Elements of A Novel
-----------------------
"I wish I'd known about this sooner. This site was set up by Peder
Hill to take you through the process of writing a novel as he wrote
one. The site is excellent and well worth a visit no matter where
you are in your novel writing."

This is a great site for all potential poets. It contains advice
on all types of verse forms and help for anyone starting out in
poetry. It covers such a huge range of forms that any poet will
find it useful.

A song inspired by the famous Mutual Of New York building sign which stood at the top of 1740 Broadway for about 40 years...

Wouldn't it be nice to look up at a sign and come up with a hit song that made millions over the years?
Ha Ha O-Pink...

Btw, I've been having this darn problem with my computer...think it may have caught a bug...

Quote by Lisa

I like that!

Figured somebody would appreciate that...and it's funny how true it is, at least for me...I've been known to put friends, neighbors, relatives in stories...sometimes by name...

Nothing bad though...

Are you thinking about giving it a try?

Who me? No...I just thought it was more "interesting" in a humorous way actually...though I have written a 6700 word story in a night...

Not sure I could imagine writing a novel in three days though...
Yeah, you read it right...I've said before, don't normally like to post contests with fees...but, this one is really special...

So...you've been sitting with that unfinished novel on your hard drive for the last three years...and you think NaNoWriMo is a bunch of crap, nobody can write a real novel in a month...

Well...how about writing a novel in three days? Oh yeah...check this one out if you think you're good...

I'll have to say, if you win this one you are good...you deserve a special badge that says "Writer" or something... You really do deserve it...

Got something with a Brooklyn bias? The Brooklyner is looking for stuff for its inaugural issue...

I know there's at least a couple of New Yorkers here...show them Brooklyn's in the house...not every day you get to get in on a magazine's inaugural issue...

Check it out...here's the link...

Oh, I think this one will be a real change of pace for some of you...and I'll leave it at that...

How about writing for a Christian Kid's Magazine aimed at 6 to 10 year olds? Hmmm...that could be a challenge...

Get paid in the process...here's the link if interested...

You know Alan, I love that you post these links for submissions and competitions. They are so helpful.

Thank you so much Louise for your kind words...it means a lot that people appreciate it, or that they even bother to read any of these postings in the first place...

Btw, I post these links over on Facebook as well...which you already know of course, my FB friend...but, I also post links to submission calls of a more, um, "adult" nature that I can't post here on this fine, family oriented story site...

So, if anyone may be interested in the additional links, feel free to add me over on FB...I'm there as Alan Jankowski...you'll recognize several of my FB friends there from being over here on SS anyway...

Yeah, I think it's nice that people here are taking the opportunity to actually send stuff in to some of these submission calls...hey, you never know and it's nice to actually make a few bucks from something you do for pleasure anyway...
I know Lisa just added a thread where you can post links to stuff you sold, or links to your own blog or site...as long as it's not a competing story site, of course...

I know I managed to sell a few stories this year, and I know I'm not alone in that respect here on SS...I know of at least two others here who have sold stories this year...

Hey, you may not become the next Stephen King or J.K. Rowling, but I can tell you for a fact that it feels good when someone drops a few dollars into your PayPal account for something you had written anyway for the fun of it...

Who would want to be the next Stephen King anyway? Having to answer all that fan mail all day...jeez, I'd never get anything done...

Again...best of luck to everyone here on Stories Space in all you do...
Cheers,
Alan.
I submitted two stories to this site, my latest contest story and "Love Conquers All"...

Not sure what all the advantage is, they don't pay, but apparently their site reaches millions...so, there is potential fame involved...if not necessarily fortune...

I should probably edit the original title of the thread...but, I think there are contests and possibly other potential income possibilities...too much reading at the moment...

Just want to point out that if you do submit to here, if you're like me you'll find that their automated submission form does not want to accept any of the ordinary known file formats...just e-mail your story to the editor...the e-mail address is on the site...a Word doc is alright...

They wrote me back and said that was fine...

Thanks for all the hard work you've put into posting these opportunites for us here, Alan. It's really appreciated.

Did you say "hard work" Lisa? Lol...I just post stuff as I come across it...I think I've said it before, but I want to show that there are quite a few opportunities out there for writers to make money these days...there was a recent article that said basically that there has never been a better time to be a writer, and with the explosion of the internet, there are more paid writing opportunities than any other time in history...

I want all my writer friends to take advantage of these opportunities...and when they get that first multi-million dollar publishing deal, hopefully they'll remember who it was that posted those first writing opportunities that gave them their start...

Hint, Hint...

That is wonderful Miss Sharon...Congratulations...you'll have to tell us all about it one of these days...

Perhaps even write some good stories based on this new inspiration.JeV6XepqWX4RrvgJ

On another note...this may be of interest to some...I think they take submissions, heck, they must...

This may be of interest to some here...Calliope's Closet is "A site in celebration of contemporary women writers with a focus on poetry, fiction and artwork."...oh wait, it says that on the link below...never mind...

Interesting, and short, little article in Bizcovering that someone posted in a writing group over in LinkedIn...for anyone thinking about entering the writing field in any form...here's a quote...

"So, as many prospective writers and publishers have already found out, now is the perfect time to start or fully launch their writing careers, if they ever really wanted to do this for a living. One of the reasons why this is the perfect time to really work on your writing, and getting published is because due to the constant and growing request for online work such as writing, many writers are finding out that it is easier than ever to make money from this job."

Cool! I just sent off a submission. Thanks for the link!

No problem Linda...I try to post a variety of contests and submission calls here, to reflect the fact that there is quite a variety of opportunities for writers to make a few dollars here and there...

Just, when you become rich and famous, remember your Stories Space friends...
This may be of interest to anyone out there with an e-book...it was posted in C Hope Clark's newsletter, and if she put it in her newsletter and on her Fundsforwriters.com site, it must be good...frankly, I can't say enough good things about her and her site...everything she puts on there is useful, and she respects a writer's time and realizes that writers have other things to do than read blogs...things like actually writing...

Here is the link to the article on e-book promotion...I assume it's good, don't really have an e-book myself, so I haven't read it...
